Oh in middle school we were horrible!!!! In 6th grade alone at least 3 girls got kicked out of class a day 🙂 And 2 never came to class…and the rest of us just had a party in the classroom. Somehow though we all passed 🙂

We would also play catch in the middle of class with paper balls.

In 7th grade we hung Haman and his 10 sons from the ceiling. Haman had a popcorn machine in him. Someone told the principal on us so she made us take down Haman’s 10 sons but she said we could keep Haman up 🙂 twas awesome when the popcorn came flying from the ceiling.

Thanks guys, keep the ideas coming!!!!!

There are a few conditions (sorry)

    – the ceilings aren’t removable

    – the teachers don’t drive to school normally (and if they do I have no idea where they park)

    – it can’t be anything that requires a lot of preparation time before since we can’t get to school by ourselves.

Thanks a million for all the ideas!!! We need at least double since its a double ADAR!!! 🙂

This might be long but heres my take on it:

The system is what I think causes the kids to start having thoughts against Judaism and if a persons relationship with their parents starts getting strained they turn away.

The system need to be revamped completely because its killing people. It’s turning chumros into Halachos and doesn’t prioritize the right things.

It’s NOT okay to throw a girl physically off the bus becuase you don’t want to sit next to her. It’s not okay to push in front of a girl but when she gets indignant not talk to her.

Don’t yell at a girl who’s wearing skirts above her knees to wear tights.

Attendance should not be more important than davening.

People need to learn to prioritize and get their halachos straight. And not focus too much on chumros and “thats what everyone does”

The system is strangling people, and the natural inclination of a person when they are getting strangled is to run away!!!! So why would it be any different when people are feeling strangled like there is only this narrow path:

be a kolell guy, marry a kollel guy live in a basement apartment in Lakewood have 60 kids, be a teacher… and if you do anything else then you are a bad person and going to hell.

So if I’m anyways going to hell so why should I do all those hard things? Like get up at 5:30 to daven…

It’s the parents job to show the kid that Torah is beautiful and it’s NOT the way they’re teaching it in schools.

Would they be suspicious if you came on one passport and left on another??

Also a girl going when she is 18-19 like for sem and is Israeli (born there) will she have problems?

Wanna know whats pathetic, I went to get a passport and they were like place of birth and I was like Jerusalem, Israel but they wouldn’t put Israel on so it just says Jerusalem cuz of political issues, like seriously??

It depends on each person separately. There are certain people who it wouldn’t even cross your mind to text them because they don’t give off that air and then there are others that you totally could.

If you aren’t sure if you can text them, ask them!

It was this kids great-grandmother’s 90th birthday party and he went over to her and was like, “grandma you’re turning 90? You only look like you’re 87.”

My aunts and grandmother are all like 5’8″, 5’9″ and my grandmother used to joke whenever she saw a tall guy with a short girl, that’s another one wasted. 🙂

where have all the tall yeshiva bochrim gone? Been to a wedding lately they all seem so short.

I know!!! It’s crazy. I see these little boys who look like they’re 8 but then they have hats on and I’m like what??? I’m soooo glad I’m older than them 🙂 cuz I would really love to be shorter than my husband (and I’m not even so tall)

If their pupils dilate (if they grow bigger) then its a sign they’re lying.

Also if their a righty and look to the right (I think) they’re making it up. But check that out yourself. Ask yourself a question where you need to remember something (like what did you have for dinner last night or whatever) and check which side you look up too. The other side is the imagination side

I have a friend who is friends with a mutual friend who is not that frum anymore, but is still respectful and all (like she wears a skirt when she’s at home)

But my friend told this girl that I still want to hang out with you and think you’re an amazing girl and all but when I am with you, you need to do x, y, and z. (I’m not exactly sure how she said it but you get the gist.)

Maybe you can do that, tell her I want to hang out with you and still be your friend but you can’t do x, y, z, when I’m with you.

    1. I don’t really see people get bullied but I would probably stand up for the kid being bullied.

    2. I would just say I made a mistake, you’re right, I’m wrong. But not make it that serious.

    3. Freak out (I never used to but something really scary happened and since then…) and say some Tehilim (it physically calms you down, trust me I have experience 🙁 ) say its probably the wind but not be able to fall asleep.

    4. never happened yet (don’t drive) but I’d probably leave a note with my number.

    5. Just gradually lose touch with the person. An idea, be like oh, I’ll think about it.

btw how does this test your courage??

Ha, I just learned this 🙂

So basically it’s completely muttar (I don’t know which Rishonim say this). It might be because wine can be 1/6 (that’s why blended scotch is ok) and also something about the flavor, I think.

    I don’t envy you believer. That’s a tough situation.

How about telling her that you think she is still a good person (leave out the bad choices thing) and it’s hard for you not to be friends, but you are scared of getting influenced or something like that. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT TELL HER IT’S CUZ IT’LL RUIN YOUR REPUTATION!!! That would totally not be good!!!

Ask her what to do about it? Like I still want to be friends with you but when you do x, y, z it bothers me…(choose what you like) so what can we do about it.

    Good Luck!!!!!

Appropriate use of all-caps. very good.

“is praying for the Jets to win, acceptable?” by sayin this sentence it shows whats important to you in life.. i personally would pray for things such as health, family…and ect..but if thats what you feel is important in life so go ahead and daven for them.

I was waiting for someone to say that. 🙂

“Never trust a poster by his posts.” I enjoy watching a sports game but I have way more important things going on in my life than that. I was just wondering if it’s weird. When I pray I pray for better things, like my health, my family, my friends… I was just curious to see if it was considered a bizayon or not.

It just so happens to be that this thread is sports thread, and the Jets won a major game YESTERDAY, it’s not like we’re talking about it a week later or whatever.

(I’m talking for myself here. I don’t know anything about the other posters obsession.)

The clock in my parents room is half an hour fast so that when the alarm rings my mother knows she still has half an hour.

The clock in the car is 10 minutes fast so we could all freak out and are like, we’re leaving late again, and then it’s like nope we have 10 more minutes.

Its annoying sometimes but at the same time I totally understand it why people do it.

Take it from a kid who’s been in both types of school: there is much less competition in a school with a dress code than a school with a uniform.

When I say dress code I mean an actual one, like you can only wear a button down shirt, no words…

    There is barely any competition!!!

GeshmakMan – your sounding like Joseph.

But if you are serious, what is wrong with it?? You don’t understand it, great! Nobody is forcing you to. Don’t watch. Spend your time doing other things instead.

    What’s wrong with sports?

Seriously it’s one of the most kosher entertainments out there and it does teach you stuff too. Ok so you can argue for a guy the cheerleaders in football, but seriously unless you’re a Dallas Cowboy’s fan you barely see the cheerleaders, except if the ball goes by them (this is on TV of course). S

So you can daven, that your team may their ball never go out of bounds and may they never have to run into the cheerleader’s area and instead just get touchdowns.

    I mean seriously!

There are so many things you can learn from sports. Teamwork, work ethic, determination, never giving up hope….

I was at a school that had a uniform and it was great, wake up five minutes before carpool and throw it on. And when I spoke to people that didn’t have a uniform, I was incredulous, like how do you decide every morning what to wear?

But uniforms also make times where you don’t have to wear uniforms fashion shows. Like by Chagiga and things everyone is looking at what everyone is wearing.

At the school that had a dress code instead. Before I went I was nervous like everyone is going to notice when I wear something again and all. And I thought that there’d be tons of peer pressure and who wants to get up earlier to chose what to wear…

But once I went I was like nobody notices anything anyone else is wearing except to compliment it since everyone is wearing something different. And you’re not the odd one out.

Btw, I think cardigans and sweaters are way cheaper than uniforms.

If you don’t want your husband to propose to you and you’d rather do it through a shadchan, then by all means, do that.

But that doesn’t mean that its wrong to propose per se, (like tons of people here already said) they way some people do it may be wrong but that doesn’t mean its inherently wrong.
