According to historical reports, Hitler, Yemach Shemo, actually commissioned the Volkswagen Corporation to build cars to suit him and the Third Reich. That’s why I chose Volkswagen.

Heargod: Part of Germany’s reparations to Israel for World War II was the export of its cars at highly- subsidized prices. So taking “advantage” of this by buying a German car is the way Israelis help Germany “make good” (if possible) on reparations. This doesn’t apply to Americans buying these cars.

I’m sure that 99.99% of parents, when asked, will claim that their son is mature enough to get married. I hate to break it to them, but most of them are NOT.
I encounter Beis Medrash bochurim daily and see how tremendously selfish and uncaring they are. Parents need to have a reality check when it comes to marrying off their children.

I would venture to say that your number 1 is quite universal. All frum Jews believe in that. It’s not necessarily a Lubavitch idea.

Way too many shlichei tzibbur mispronounce Hakadosh Baruch Hu’s name. It is with a cholam (Adonai), not a cheerek (Adeenai).
I believe the tzibbur is not even allowed to answer Amen when it’s mispronounced.

It is put out by folks that have NO CLUE as to what’s going on in Flatbush. Although the neighborhood is turning more frum, they insist on TV schedules, sports “star” interviews, glorifying Medinas Yisroel and plagiarizing the letters sent in to this very Coffee Room.

This story is so upsetting to me. I empathize with you mazal77 – you are in the right 100%.

Regarding being oveir any issur, I’m sure that since we hold of Dina Dimalchusa Dina, the store owner is certainly wrong on that account.

If you could (or should) report the owner to the Dept. of Consumer Affairs is proof that he did something against the law. There are many sources in Chazal which discuss misleading a potential buyer.

I hope that you told the owner or manager that “he lost a customer, with a whole family of eye glass wearers.”

I’m sure the Artscroll folks paid a graphic designer a nice sum to come up with something pleasing to the eye, which it certainly is. Everything they put out strives to be perfect.

    147 –

I don’t think it’s right or mentchlich to deride Artscroll. They aren’t dictating anything and I would venture to say they are the biggest, most professional, most-used seforim publishers in the world.
