That’s totally shtusim. It is a popular misconception, but a misconception nonetheless.

April 8, 2018 9:01 pm at 9:01 pm in reply to: Is it reasonable to tell a 21 yr old boy to date a 24 yr old girl !!!!!! #1503747JosephParticipantIt isn’t any different for a 21 year old boy to date a 24 year old girl than for a 24 year old boy to date a 21 year old girl.
JosephParticipantEven highly respected gentile scientists dispute the notion that climate change is man-made.
JosephParticipantHow degrading for a human being to have to scoop up from the streets a dog’s waste. Fech. It is sub-human.

April 8, 2018 3:01 pm at 3:01 pm in reply to: Sick and tired of spoiled cholov yisroel milk #1503581JosephParticipantWhy isn’t Pride of the Farm sold in America’s biggest kosher market – New York?
JosephParticipantWho gives a hechsher on these Matzahs?
JosephParticipantCTL: NYC Goyim are very big on having dogs. City life apparently poses no obstacle to their dog ownership. Compare that to the dog ownership rate of their fellow New Yorkers who are frum Yidden. It is like night and day. Whereas a significant portion of NYC Goyim and irreligious Jews are pet-owners, religious Jewish New Yorkers in the five boroughs have an insignificant rate of dog and cat ownership.
JosephParticipantRY23, I must commend you for recognizing that the level of a dog is low and that lowering oneself to love a dog as one might love a child is a matter of lowering oneself. This is indeed the point that needed to be brought out.
JosephParticipant“I also have 5 TV’s. Last year I had 2 of the most loving German Shepards puppies”
Dogs, TV… exactly my point.
“My dog loves me (as all dogs love their owners) unconditionally without judgement…”
Try loving Jewish children instead of dogs.
“who happens to be more frum than you can ever hope to be, and I don’t even know you… As a matter of fact, I think these dogs had better Midos than you!”
That’s it with pet owners; they admit they don’t even know someone yet make all sort of judgemental comments like whose more frum and has more middos than someone they don’t even know.
It comes from loving an animal instead of a Yid.

April 4, 2018 1:27 pm at 1:27 pm in reply to: Can a “Kosher” Restaurant Advertise it also is “Halal” #1502909JosephParticipantWhile many Muslims rely on kosher food to meet their halal requirements, Jews cannot use halal food and assume it’s kosher (as someone implied above.)

April 4, 2018 8:45 am at 8:45 am in reply to: Can a “Kosher” Restaurant Advertise it also is “Halal” #1502713JosephParticipantMidwest2, like YitzchokM pointed out what I said about Christianity and Islam is exactly correct about those gentiles. But it, obviously, isn’t the case for Jews — for whom both are A”Z.
The Rambam’s Psak, as noted above, is what we rule with today. The vast majority of Ashkenazic poskim didn’t address the issue altogether due to the Church censoring of Seforim. Imagine the consequences should a Sefer published in Europe have stated what the Rambam paskened about Christianity.
In any event, the Noda B’Yehuda, one of the Ashkenazic greats, explicitly rules that shituf is pure A”Z when practiced by a gentile.
April 3, 2018 4:49 pm at 4:49 pm in reply to: Can a “Kosher” Restaurant Advertise it also is “Halal” #1502618JosephParticipantThe Rambam paskens that Christianity is A”Z whereas Islam is not.
April 3, 2018 12:16 pm at 12:16 pm in reply to: Can a “Kosher” Restaurant Advertise it also is “Halal” #1502555JosephParticipantJewish shochtim in Eretz Yisroel used to say Allahu Akbar each time the shechted an animal in order that they could sell the meat to the Arabs, since that is an Islamic requirement for Muslims to be able to consume the meat.
JosephParticipantCreole Hebrew, which the Zionists call Ivrit, is much more objectionable as it is a corruption of Loshon Kodesh. And L”K should not be used as an everyday street language for speaking the most mundane and low forms of speech.

Make the Bris in shul on time IY”H, serving Matzah, wine, grape juice, Pesach macaroons, kichel, etc.
JosephParticipantOwning a pet is not a yiddishe thing.
Our thing is to have children.
JosephParticipant“You’re considered a shomer chinam so have to take care of the goy’s pet”
You’re saying if a Yid is a “shomer chinum” for a goy’s pet, he can feed chometz to the pet on Pesach?
March 30, 2018 5:06 pm at 5:06 pm in reply to: What if I don't want to buy back the chometz from the goy? #1501939JosephParticipant“Joseph
thanks for not asking your same “question” a third year in a row.”
ubiq: I was counting on you this year. Thank you for obliging! 🙂
As far as the rest of your question, don’t the rabbonim doing the sale with the goy make the transaction legally binding under the local/national laws?
JosephParticipantPersonally, I set my pet loose and just get a new one after Pesach.
About the rabbis answer, if you sell your pet who will feed the pet its chometz food, now that the pet is owned by a goy.
In any event, what kind of rabbi is this where he has congregants that commonly have pets, so much so that he has to speak in shul about this question? Very few frumme Yidden have pets.

Do you think it would be a good thing or even an okay thing if everyone chose, like you have, to not vaccinate?
