I dont always hear the phone, so I tell people to send me a text. as I check the phone periodically.

Also sometimes when I am buying stuff I am not sure about, Ill take a photo and send it off to the expert in that area. Ive managed not to buy things that would get returned and save the store lots of hasssle.

One of the reasons we have more leisure time is electricity.

Most of us have never really been to a place with no lights, Its really dark and even a lantern doesnt really help much.

today we can do anymost anything a night as we can do during the day so you can do things at night that you didnt have to wait until the next day to continue

    Its not just the yeshivas

The government is saying if you dont go, you will not get government Benefits like Food Stamps

And yes the Charedi leadership could just take this road. Neteuri Karta and the Edah HaChadis do this

Rav Avigdor Miller was against vacations. The american style kind where you go on a cruise or a tour or something.

Also No Rav says its permitted not to get a Bris if its forbidden.

The Psak about not paying taxes is only an opionion . Others hold its permitted to pay the taxes (Or a Service tax – otherwise known as a draft)

I ask Charlie, zd, and Avi: If you lived where it was illegal to do bris milah, and you had a son, would you do it, and if so, open or clandestinely?

You can easily go to another juristiction temporarily and have it done where its not illegal. IE its illegal in NY, just go to NJ or CT and have it done.

In theory, I wouldn’t pay, although at best it might not be a chiyuv to pay, it would never be assur to pay even at the cost of being jailed.

If your Rav says its Assur to pay, its Assur

Not even a shilah. If you can’t follow a country’s laws, you go somewhere else!

You are in effect saying that secular law supercedes halachah.

So what would you do if your rav poskined it was Assur to pay taxes to a treif anti-torah Medina

A draft or Civil service IS a tax, however instead of paying money, you pay with your labor.

You live in a country you have to obey the laws of that country. If you dont like the laws get them changed or move to a place where you do like the laws.

    Theoritical question

What if your Rav Poskins its assur to support a treif Medina and pay taxes

Do you follow your Rav, or do you pay the taxes

How would you like it if people vandalized Charedi entrees or delcared them as “fan Pages” (You have to write entries critically, not as a fan) which can get them deleted

Why not first decide who made the letter and who signed it instead of “Rabbanim”

Its possible that FM made this up or took some Rabbi nobody ever heard of who made the letter

    Dear Parents,

We are writing to you in the matter of utmost importance. The dangers that face our children today are well known.

It has come to our attention that Motzei Shabbos has become a time of sakanah and Yeridah for teenage boys and girls in our neighborhood. Avenue J and Avenue M and other avenues have become places where a Ben torah and Bas Yisroel should not be found.

We find it nessasary to notify all parents of the mesivta of Flatbush. Our Talmidim are not allowed on these streets on Mozei Shabbos. Any talmid found on these streets will face serious consequences.

Let us work together to see nachas from our children. and Bearaz hashem will be be priviledge dot see Moshaich in our time.

(I dont know how to get Hebrew Letters so I changed that part)

There certainly is an attempt to whitewash history. Romantisize over the past and what was done.

The pictures of the wives with hair uncovered are real, the pictures of the gedolim without bears are also real .

And life was not better in the Ghettos, Not everyone was religious and jews have been going OTD since the Judges

There were several reasons why it became easier in the 60’s.

the #1 reason beyond all was the 5 day work week, without this becoming the norm most people would not be religious. This did occur in the 30’s but because of the depression and WW II its effects were not immediately seen.

Most Charedim will not credit the civil rights movement, but that was the second most important reason. Before the civil righs movement one could not easily state your rights. You could not declare you wanted Kosher food or not to work on Holidays nor could you state your inention to be differnet. When African Americans declared their civil rights others (including jews) were also able to declare their rights as well

This whole cell phone converstion is not Halacha, its a chumra.

Its not inconsisant at all to say that too many chumras lead poeople over the edge, It clearly says you are not to veer from the torah from the left or the RIGHT

    >em> There is gross failure to meet the needs of talmidim who do not conform, whether by providing or accessing services, or by having individual attention for each and every talmid.

Non-conformism is severly looked down upon. If someone cant be a learner, but they can play the trumpet. Its looked down upon and the person might have to leave to be a trumpet player (or any art form like Painting etc)

The government money comes from Other Taxpayers, It is not Manna from heaven. Now if you want to argue that the original owner got from Hashem, that is fine, then convince them to give to Charedim and not their own personal choice of Tzedkah

    WOW

The problem is the Charedi world does not take critism, They assume all critism is an attack on their lifestyle.

Its true some crisim is an attack , but not all of it.

Its important to listen to at least some of the critism and realize its not all an attack and there is real chizuk to be had

There is nothing wrong with being educated and it irks me to no end to see the poor quality of education in he Charedi schools.

Unfortunatly in the Charedi world alot of bullying goes on to each other (The Schools are used as the bait) and people fall into line even when they disagree

I am aware of that opinion. But it flies in the face of Chazal who say he was in Paroh’s court of 3 advisors
