If one is getting stressed out over college, how will it be handled in the real world like when a client demands something in 24 hours or you will lose the account.

You need to learn how to handle stress better

There are plenty of people with no degrees who make good money and there are plenty of people with a degree who dont make any money

However if you take 1000 people. More of the ones with a degree will be making more money than ones who dont

I am not a navi, But for those who say “Hashem will provide” I can pretty much gurantee you will not be getting a job as a Brain Surgeon without a medical degree.

Many good jobs will not let you in the door without a degree. its true you might not use the degree, but without experience you need something to open the door and the degree is it. You need that BA to get the door Ajar so you can get it.

And to play devils advocates lets take worse case scenerios. Once you get the degree you always have it , it never goes away. maybe today you dont need it, but you never know about tommorrow and many jobs give you pay increases with degrees

As far as I’m aware, none of the members of the American Moetzes have ever assered the Internet.

One of the Rabban listed previously is Rav Malkiel Kotler. He was one of the Rabbanim behind the internet asifa.

I dont know if he is behind this event or not since it was only posted here by an anonymous poster

The Charedim joining the army is a red herring, the Army doesnt want them

The whole issue is about Working and government Handouts.

This tehillin is a prayer against working and contiuning to get government benefits

All I can say is if the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah support the Atzeres Tefillah we must go because if not we are going against the Gedolim which is big aveira. If you have an issue with this than go visit the Gedolim on the Moetzes & discuss this issue with them privately. Hashem gets very angry when people rip Gedolim.

The Gedolim also told you to get off the internet and you did not listen.

If this photo is 10 years old as has been suggested. It would seem that this is not the Halacha as it was not repeated.

As suggested this flight was detoured to pass over the cemetary, I am sure this has happend again in the last 10 years yet nobody has worn a plastic bag over their head

I will predict what will happen. The secular media will have mixed reviews. The Jewish Week, et al, will say how bad the chareidim are. The Yated, Hamodia, et al, will say what a kiddush Hashem it was.

There will be at least three threads about it in the CR, with many saying what a chillul Hashem it was (fill in the names of your favorite cynical, MO leaning posters), and many saying how wonderful it was (fill in the named of your favorite frummies, most of whom will be Joseph).

I agree 100% with this observation, except all the non Charedi will call give it a bad name and the Charedim will call all the critism Torah Hating Anti-Semities who want to destroy torah from the world

hey guys, the ones speaking out against this tefila gathering or its venue, are speaking out against the greatest gedolim in america who called for it. are you aware of this point?

That is no argument, Which Gedolim are for this event?

And I am sure there are Gedolim who are against this event as well.

They want it covered by the Media. If they did not they would have told Rabbanim privaely for everyone to say Tehillim in their own Kehillas at the same time (Perhaps via Phone or Simulcast).

By Getting a Permit and having a large outdoor event it will be covered by the media.

When one sits in a Succah when its Pouring, Its considered to be a Chassid Shoteh. So one doesnt have to go to such extremities to be a Chassid Shoteh

Many here do think this is a Chilul hashem are saying this man is a Chassid Shoteh. Its certainly within Halacha to say someone is a Chassid Shoteh especially in a case where most agree this was a little extreme

Are you even willing to consider the idea of Chassid Shoteh.

What would someone have to do to be a Chassid Shoteh?

Is it possible the man is simply a Chassid Shoteh and misunderstood what Rav Elyshiv said.

Its certainly possible that Rav Elyshiv said the plane is not good enough to avoid tumah and some sort of personal ohel is needed. Its also possible that he did not mean covering oneself in a plastic bag and that was this individuals “solution”.

in reply to: Are there too many seforim being published today #945314

Most seforim are Self-Published meaning the author pays all expense related to publishing the book . if the publisher had paid for the expenses alot less would be published.

Many other times like Feldheim will publish the book for free, but the author gets no money. I dont know about CIS or Art Scroll. I had a relative who had a book published by Feldheim and I was shocked they were not paid.

There are too many out there as the market is somewhat limited for them There are only so many people buying these books and there is only so many book these people want (How many inspirational books do most people have in their libraries)

I created a work of fiction and passed it to Haaretz, the Gothimist , All the “anti-Semeic ” Blogs and the many other posters who who also seemed to think it was based on a Tshuva by Rav Elyshiv (or maybe his son as suggested)

I am so amazing, Its amazing all the falsehoods one anonymous poster can come up with on a blog

So why is it a problem in Israel , but not a problem at LaGaurdia Airport, Plenty of Charedim use LaGauadia Airport (It might be a problem at JFK too, but im not sure) . The Flight patterns over LGA go right over several jewish cemetaries

Why is this only a problem in Israel?

Why isnt a problem in NY

There are quite a few cemetaries in Queens near LaGaurdia Airport and the airplanes go over them

There might be others elsewhere as well.

One might be joking but the reality is people are saying “Bring Joy to Torah and Mitvos” and come up with all these ideas.

But all it takes is one YOU ARE LATE FOR DAVENING , NO PARK FOR YOU

or you cant play with your friends because you have to watch your baby brother

Or the kid plays with his favorite electronic toy on Shabbos , gets yelled at and has it taken away for all your efforts to blow up in smoke

Dont make things like shabbos a “punishemnt” yelling at them SHABBOS SHABBOS for example

and that Hashem is going to send you to Gehenim for every minor infraction.

Dont overly force them to do things. Its not terrible to go outside and play instead of learning 12 hours a day

People like to live with like minded people. People who have the same general outlook on things . While they may not agree 100% on things, they generally will agree. People you will go over to each others houses, Have your kids play with their kids etc.

It is sinas Chinam to say I wont live with THOSE people. Like the poster who said If you want to live like a Nochri move to Teaneck. However its NOT Sinas chinam to say I want to live with these people. ie I want to live in an area with lots of Chassidish velt, lots of Shteibels. Yiddish widely spoken. etc.

Decide who you want to live with, not who you DONT want to live with

There is a big differnce between The Churban Bais Hamigdosh, The Spanish Expulsion, Chelmiski and the Holocaust.

The diffence is nobody rembers or knows anyone who was a victim of the former tradgeties, but most people know survivors of the Holocaust and there are picures as well.

When you say something every day it unfortuantly gets Jaded. If we leave one day a year to remember, It becomes somehing more thought about.

The Maharal Im sure was a great Anuv. What do you think would be his reaction if he could come alive today

He is probably the most famous Rabbi of the Central/Eastern European Era. He is not famous for any Sefer or Pshats, He is famous for making a Golem. He is one of the most famous residents of Prague, In fact so famous there is a statue of him in the City hall, Probably the only Rabbi to have a Statue in a European Capital City Hall.

    What would be his reaction?

In Prague the Golem has become big business. They sell statues of the Golem everywhere, they give Golem Tours (Its a Ghost / Haunted / Golem Tour) and there is even a treif restaurant with the name Golem.

If they would ever open up the Attic to the Starnova Synagogue they could charge huge sums to visit and it would sell out

It might very well be true that Ravs Kook view on womens is closer to Satmars than Dati Leumi (for example), but thats irrelevant in the debate as once you bring up his name only one issue matters and thats all that most think of his opinions
