It was the Parents fault for allowing the kid to climb the fence. The gorilla didnt climb the fence to the humans, the humans climbed the fence for a “Photo Shot”

That being said it was a dangerous situation and I dont understand why the gorilla could not just have been tranquilzed

Do NOT bring MRE’s onto the trains without asking. It might set off smoke alams or scare other passengers especially with the smoke

Just a side note, After the wars, the Rabbanim who remained, NONE decided to rebuild in detroyed Europe. THey decided to rebuild in previously forbidden places mostly the US and Israel, but Canada and the UK.

Given that even the Satmar Rebbe decided to rebuild elsewhere after he forbid moving, its is very probable the Rav Wasserman would have tried to rebuild elsewhere as well

Its probably double wrapped airline food. Thats what cruises offer if you take a regular cruise (as opposed to a Kosherica cruise where its fresh kosher) and what you can get in disney world.

While I forgot the exact hashgacha of the ones I got in Disney world, It was a national Hashghcha (ou, ok etc) and not some local one.

A good chunk of those who perished were not relgious. Proably a majority of jews in Europe were not religious even in 1939.

I was reading a raw account (many accounts of the holocaust are filtered because the survivors have alot of guilt for suriving and their own actions (like stealing) in order to surive) of the warsaw ghetto. The writer says that during the deportations in the summer of 1942 peoples greatest fear was not only dying, but disappearing forever meaning not even a trace of their existence. In fact Yad Vashem who has tried to at least give a name to all the victims only has about 1.5-2 million of them

Your initial statement does create a problem for many

Many say what you said or similar and make it seem like Halacha and you made it seem as much.

When people find out that its NOT halcha , thats its either a chumra or someones personal opinion they begin to question other things people said

When its a Rebbe or Morah who says such a thing and the girls find out its not truth, they begind to think everything is false and question everything they said leading the road to OTD

Im not sure Rav Elchanon Wasserman really knew that the Nazis meant they would kill the jews and elimate Judaism from Eastern Europe as successful as they did. Nobody really belived they would. They just thought there was danger, but that yiddishkeit would survive

I heard a story about Rav Moshe (I could have the details slightly wrong) and Rav Shlomo Zalman

He make a Psak and wanted to know what Rav Shlomo Zalman’s opinion was on the matter. He sent a letter to Rav Shlomo Zalman for an answer. he did not receive one. Some time later he met up with Rav Shlomo Zalman and asked him why he did no reply to his letter and Rav Shlomo Zalman said he didnt remember receiving it. After some investigations Rav Shlomo Zalman found out that an askan had intercepted the letter and did not give it to Rav Shlomo Zalman

I will have to agree that the Charedi population doesnt really care what a D’L Rabbi says. Im not really sure what it will take to change things.

Im not even sure that cutting off benefits will really make a differnce.

OP The previous answer is exactly why you need to speed to a Rav and not get advice from the internet.

Your own Rav can give you advice based on your circumstances

Prof . The OP is a 15 year old who is becoming a BT living with his parents and I am guessing here likely going to Public school, throwing the entire Halacha at him is not really such a good idea, he needs to go in stages

In NY most employers are somewhat aware of some basic jewish laws and customs like leaving early on Fridays in the winter and all the jewish holidays (Succoth and Shavouth) however out of town they are not. Go to employers in Cleveland and ask them about Shavouth and many will look at you funny.

When you try to leave early on Friday or take off for Shmini Atzert, it will be alot harder (Yes its Illegal to fire someone for leaving work early on Friday, but there are ways around it)

I didnt read wikipedia about smallpox, I did a report on Edward Jenner in School once.

It was actually transportatation that spread some of these diseases especially the Plague as the Plaugue is carried by fleas on rats and some of these rats hitchhiked on the trade ships and spread the Plague (Im sure with other diseases too)

The Biggest killer of all time is SmallPox (Not the Plague). In some socities 90% of the population was killed by smallpox (Smallpox ravished Europe and the people who were left had some sort of immunity to Smallpox) When the Europeans came to the New World, they carried the smallpox virus with them and decimated many native americans.

Smallpox was began on its eliminating by the Cowpox Vaccine developed by Edward Jenner and later by vaccines that contained dead smallpox virii to elimate smallpox, the only disease ever eraticated

I think the point is when you permit too many things you water down stuff and when you ban too many things you also water down and make a mockery.

And to use the speed limit Analogy

If you make a speed limit 90 MPH most people would agree

Now start lowering the speed limit

The lower the speed limit the more people will disobey. When you make the Speed limit say 20 MPH most people will ignore

Because the author was bemoaning WhatsApp when he had an Iphone with a Prizus voice.

I dont know of Rabbanim had discouraged use of Siri or not, but they certainly should. the voice was made to be Prizus like. But I do know the Satmar Rebbe has banned iPhones and this was an iPhone, not an Android

Siri is specifically for iPhone. its that thing where you talk into the phone and it answers you (in a female voice..Almost Prizus like). It is not available for Android, I think there is something similar for Android, but its not as well known as Siri

I dont know the exact situation in Newport, but there are many times where if the stuff is not sold worse things can happen. The roof can collapse (The roof needs to be fixed and selling pays to fix the roof) The power is turn off and other expenses that need to be paid and there is no money to pay for them and in cases where there are no jews left, you just cant leave the building abandoned, you can get into trouble especially if parts of it fall on someone or homeless drug addicts decide to squat in the abandoned building and cause trouble for the neighbords

Life insurance is not a “Luxury”. A funeral costs about $15,000 nowadays and especially if the person is young you can leave the widow and orphans with alot of expenses and no money. It is almost impossible to raise $250,000 via tzdekah for a widow and orphans

I am not familiar with the current situation in Israel, but if the government says there is a High risk for forest fires, you should listen. If you dont think Forest Fires are dangerous, google Fort MacMurry, Alberta. An entire City in Canada of 90,000 was destroyed by a forest fire.

I have been in both kinds of locations OOT and in town, and OOT (OOT as a place where Shabbos is Saturday.. Some part of NY area feel like OOT, 1 or 2 shuls and no pizza stores) and while people who go to shul know each other, they lived further apart and once you walked a few blocks from the shul you didnt see shabbos anymore and it was Saturday

I do not own a pet, nor do I want one, However the post about diseases carried by them is greatly exaggerated, In fact many people are actually healthier because of their pets. Dogs especially are very social animals and crave attention. Owners of them especially those who live alone tend to have heathier lives.

Its quite soothing to have a dog jump on you to relax and be petted. I just dont want one because I am not in the mood to walk it when its 5 degrees outside and snowing and cleaning up after it

The places with cheaper housing either dont have yeshivas or have one choice of Yeshiva. I know people in Scranton are forced to send their high schoolers to dorming or to live with grandparents so whatever is saved is lost on the dorming

Kosher food is also harder to get and more expensive in more remote areas.

Even though with WhatsApp stuff can spread faster than with just a printing press, the shelf life of the information is also shorter. people move on to the next thing very quickly and people will forget quicker. its easy to bury information

Something spread via the printing press can have a very long shelf life
