If this will be of any chizuk- I know of a young couple that got married and had two sons in fairly quick succesion. Then nothing…and nothing …for a long time. Of course they ran to specialists,etc. When their younger son was over seven,they had healthy twin girls!!

I just noticed this thread,and I’m surprised that no one mentioned this helpful hint. If you mix the medicine into cold Kedem concord grape juice,the bad taste is masked.It works beautifully.

To Shprintze- I find it so very sad that you don’t know all that you were asking about.Covering knees and elbows is basic halacha.Covering toes is a machlokes that most communities are makpid on. PLEASE get yourself to a seforim store and buy a copy of “Halichas Bas Yisroel- A Woman’s Guide to Jewish Observance”,by Rav Yitzchok Yaacov Fuchs. In Volume One there is in-depth coverage with detailed footnotes of halachos of tznius. I think you (and many others!) would find this very enlightening.
There’s also the idea of Olam Haboh in the frum world,that the others participating in the sport don’t have.Do you have any idea how beloved in the eyes of H-shem you are by following your Rav’s psak? You should express your frustration and get it out of your system,then try to think outside the box to see what you possibly ~could~ do.

There is an excellent Artscroll English sefer “Mourning in Halachah” that contains a tremendous amount of halachos and minhagim.For anyone in that situation it’s a must-have. That being said,you must have a Rov to ask shailos to,as there are many situations that can’t be covered in a book,and there are many situations that can and do arise that need hadracha from a Rov.
And how will that help if you have the top bunk?(P.S.-It’s spelled “containers”.)

If I was brought up in a non-religious home (I was), and later in life (as a teenager)became acquainted with frum Jews (I did),would I care to find out what it’s all about? YES.And would I make the drastic,life changing decision to become frum? YES! Boruch Hashem! And it’s obvious that a number of other posters here (and at least one mod)also said Na’aseh V’nishmah at one point in their lives.

I am quoting from the sefer “Halichas Bas Yisroel”- “In some communities,it is customary for brides to cover their hair before the wedding ceremony to ensure that it will be covered at the moment of marriage.Elsewhere,brides cover their hair after yichud.Still others wait until the following day to cover their hair.”There are 3 footnotes in the sefer that bring down exactly where each shitta comes from,and they are all valid,major poskim.Feel free to look it up.
Pac-Man-You should know that there are different “shitos” regarding covering the hair. Some davka hold that the kalla should have uncovered hair by her chasana (to show that she is a besulah),and that she is not mechuyav to cover her hair until the following morning.
There is a wonderful frum organization dealing with brain injuries called BINA.
Here is a tried and true recipe that looks very plain,but tastes delicious. Preheat over to 350.Oil a 9″x 13″ pan. Mix together: 3 eggs,1 cup oil,2 cups applesauce,2 tsp. vanilla,2 cups sugar. Then add in 3 cups flour,2 tsp. baking soda,and 2 tsp. cinnamon. If you like raisins,you can mix in 1 cup.Bake 45 minutes to an hour(until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean.) Enjoy!

READ TO YOUR KIDS!!! This is one of the best ways to develop closeness with your kids. Read to them something that’s of interest to them.The book could be a story,factual information that’s interesting,whatever they like.Then talk with them about it-“How would you feel if that was you-would you act like so-and-so in the book did? “. Reading to your kids(whether age 2 or 10) is a springboard for talking with them about just about anything.

To Oomis1105(and everyone else)-I don’t think that a pidyon haben is so rare. in my family,my oldest daughter gave birth to a girl.My next five children all were zoche to make a pidyon haben!I’ll admit,that was not typical…
