Both the Shulchan Aruch (73:1) and Rambam say a woman shouldn’t leave the house too much. I would imagine this ties into the reason of them not driving.

Insurance is more for men since statistically men drive more and thus are involved in more incidents. But, as deiyezooger pointed out, per mile men have less driving incidents.

Christians are worse than Muslims as far as Jews are concerned, considering Christianity’s 2,000 years of attempted genocide against Jews.

Mod 80: I don’t think it is a gezeira per se, but rather the practical realization of contemporary poskim that disallowing a physician or Hatzalah member to return home from the hospital would discourage such people from going in the first place, and thus potentially making them unavailable to save lives.

No, it’s a total bubbe maaise. And it’s not a new bubbe maaise either. I’ve heard it already almost 20 years ago.

Why shouldn’t she rush the process? It’s a mitzvah to get married, and the earlier the better. Rav Avigdor Miller zt”l encouraged girls to get married straight out of high school, at age 17 and 18. He speaks of this in his seforim.

Various rabbonim shlit”a don’t allow it in their community. Especially in Eretz Yisroel, but in the U.S. as well.

Health Insurance covers standard periodic checkups everyone should have.

Property Insurance covers hurricane or natural disasters (or a fallen tree.) It is also required to get a mortgage.

    Auto Insurance is legally mandatory.

miritchka: That is the position of those rabbonim who say to buy life insurance. I was describing the position of the other rabbonim.

I would tend to think that by far most rabbonim say to buy life insurance.

Everyone needs a burial plot. Only those who pass away young need life insurance.

No one calls it a lack of Bitachon that we own a house in CHU”L. After all, if Moshiach comes tomorrow then we won’t need it anymore.

Actually some people don’t own a house here for precisely that reason.

I would think that buying a plot is not the same issue. Everyone is niftar and needs a plot. Life insurance OTOH is generally not designed for people who pass away at age 85. It is designed if c”v someone passes away young (and still has family that needs financial assistance.)

How would anyone know the brand name of the suit you are wearing?

And since the shatnez can be removed, what difference is it that it is known that such a suit initially contained it?

    Mi K’amcha Yisroel!

This kind of “problem” would NEVER exist by goyim. Here our holy brothers are doing their utmost not to be nichshol in arayos. They are averting their eyes to not look at the opposite gender. They are moving far aside not to even inadvertently come too close to the opposite gender. They are not going in a 30 second elevator ride to avoid even the slightest possibility of wrong thoughts even.

A pruste goy? Punkt farkert! Could you ever imagine any goy anywhere going to these lengths? Not in a million years! They would be davka looking, twinkling the eye, coming closer, and if there were two elevators going up simultaneously — one with a businessman and one with a girl — which do you think he is taking?

Rabbosai, this inyan gave me a much needed needed reminder of how thankful I must be every morning, and how much kavana I must have, when I make that brocho of Shelo Asani Goy.
