Table games […] represent a social contract between players.
In the name of creating fun, everybody agrees to follow some rules,
but also that they’ll care about the nebulous concept of winning, they’ll
be quiet when other people are taking their turn, they won’t leave the
table, they’ll lie, pay attention, think quickly, adopt a character, or
establish some value in winning as a team, or coming second, or… beans*.
[…] A board game is a glass palace of social cues.
    -Quintin “Quinns” Smith

*Probably a reference to popular bean-farming-themed card game Bohnanza.

He means that a clock set to the wrong time will always be wrong.
(A “slow clock” refers to a clock set to a time earlier than the actual time,
not a clock that takes longer than 24 hours to run through a day… wait,
that wouldn’t be right twice a day either. What did you mean?)

To walk a dog on Shabbos one must be a talmid chacham; yet you don’t see a talmid chacham owning a dog.

Well, they are traditionally poor. : )

A dog is a low animal. Would you have a pet pig?

What makes an animal low or high, and what are
some high animals that make suitable pets, Joseph?

The Gemara says that one must not keep a vicious dog in one’s house.
There’s an inference to be made there.

like tumah (maybe you have to wash your hands after touching him)

Live animals do not convey tumah. (You do need
to wash your hand after handling a pet, though.)

Some distinctions need to be made:
Chassidus, the movement created by the Baal Shem Tov
Chassidus, the set of teachings, which includes teachings found elsewhere
Chassidus, the way of life of certain Jews today
Chassidus, the trait of Chazal’s “Chassid” (as explained in Mesillas Yesharim)

Indeed, Joseph, why would a girl meet a boy? It seems like highly questionable behavior!

You end up with stuff like this, though:
The pregnancy amulet is a unique kit with a ruby stone, carnelian, ‘even tekuma’ and a magnet that draws and strengthens the pregnancy. It hangs on a silver chain because silver is kabalistically associated with mercy, in contrast to gold which signifies judgment.

(It’s “zircon” [which, unlike cubic zirconia, is found in nature].)

[A] pearl can cause a baby to be born sooner… women wear a ruby
against their skin to prevent miscarriages, if I’m not mistaken, and these
things have their source in Gemorrah and are NOT pagan.

I’d like a source for that pearl business – Google isn’t showing me anything
like that (not that that’s conclusive evidence). The even tekumah is
in the Gemara. It seems to be identified by different sources as ruby, carnelian,
and aetite (also known as eaglestone).
I don’t think the concept of stones having powers is a pagan one.

Are you going to point your finger at someone sitting in a wheelchair and say, yes, I know that it was best for you to suffer in pain your whole life and not be able to walk like a normal man?

Perhaps it’s not something you should go around saying to afflicted individuals…
But if all Hashem does is for the best, then yes, that must be the case, and you know it.
You don’t know why, of course, but you know. (If you were a rabbi, and a wheelchair-bound
man asked you, “Is this really what’s best for me?,” what would you tell him?)

    To address the original question:
What are the criteria for a watch or cuff links? Are signet rings okay?
I don’t think there are criteria within item classes (I could be wrong, of course).
Signet rings are presumably permissible to wear, but not, I suspect, on Shabbos.

Perhaps the Gemara is telling us that an issue with a man’s appearance
would not be enough to make his wife demand a divorce from him,
and that is why it doesn’t matter whether she sees him first?

“A bochur is permitted to request a woman’s photo, but a woman shouldn’t
be doing so because men weren’t created for beauty but women were”

This sounds off to me (and certainly, such a statement could not be found
in pre-modern sources). The problem is, the Gemara does forbid a man to
betroth a woman unless he has seen her, but not a woman. One could
argue, though, that if the man has seen the woman, she has presumably
    seen him as well.
(In any case, rabbonim have spoken out against asking for pictures.)

A watch is not considered to be part of a man’s clothing on Shabbos because a man would not wear
his watch if it wasn’t functional, while a woman would still wear a non-functioning watch as jewelry.
