You may have heard from this one but it’s hilarious- a brisker is waking when suddenly a guy jumps out at him with a gun, about to kill him. The brisker realizes this and says with so much kavana “Baruch ate Hashem elokeinu melech haolam al kiddush Hashem” the murderer is so moved he drops the gun and runs away. The brisker chases after him and says nu nu!!

Rav Chaim kanievsky was asked up if you are allowed to smoke cigarettes, he said yes and theyre not actually dangerous. So would you now all have no problem with you or your children smoking, or do you, as you trust the doctors and scientific community who know more about this topic than rav chaim?????

Adding on to what jbaldy said you may not like to admit it but there are many areas where (gasp) gedolim don’t necessarily know the most about and there are more qualified people in those areas who can be consulted

Throughout Jewish history any time a community or group was saved that day was commemorated as a Yom tov with simcha and hallel. This is no different, just on a larger scale

You are all only focusing on the fact that we were given back yerushalayim, while that is amazing and seething for which we have to have hakaraas hatov for, that is not the only part. The entire Arab world was trying to completely wipe us out and the odds were seemingly insurmountable against us. The outcome is an obvious neis, that we were victorious in only 6 days, and it saved the lives of every single Jew in israel

Ok but people get so carried away with Daas Torah I don’t get why a knowledge in Torah means that you are the top consultant for completely non Torah issues (ok business was a bad example)

Popa bar abba your stupidity knows no bounds. We are celebrating the incredible neis of winning the impossible 6 day war and reclaiming yerushalayim into Jewish hands for the first time in thousands of years. If not for this the Arabs would have completely wiped us out of Israel killing hundreds of thousands of us. Your lack of hakaraas hatov is disgusting

It’s not all about how much love they are getting, they have to feel like their life is meaningful that they are accomplishing things. This is true even (and probably especially) if its not things accomplished in yiddishkeit but if they have some job that they can do (whether it’s work with their hands or learning computers or something) they will feel that they have accomplished and are worth something, and will take a huge step in the right direction

Also on “daas Torah” it’s not as Pashut as you make it out to be, just because a person is knowledgable in Torah why should u make your financial and menial life desicions based on them. While they obviously know Torah well that doesn’t mean they Know so much about other things, and it’s not Kefirah or apikorsus to believe that

Also it’s one thing if you are going very beiyun to try to understand pshat but I agree that it’s overused to just try to make tiny diyukim and machloksin just for “doing names” (doing rishonim just for the sake of “doing beiyun”) not every nuance that a rishon says is for some whole chakirah which completely changes the landscape of the topic and begs huge chidushim
