The Torah only listed non kosher birds because most birds are kosher. Most pastimes are kosher, so just count the ones which aren’t

The truth is that in this age, you can never ever run for any kind of office if you ever said something stupid, controversial, or offensive even once on your life. Or if you ever did something שלא כהוגן or anything embarrassing at all, they’ll chap you on it.
So we end up with the most bland, boring, mediocre, non controversial candidates who never accomplished or did anything useful in their life. The kind of person who never makes mistakes is the same person who never does anything and is useless. But as long as they’re picture perfect, that’s who’s pushing politics.

The Rambam says the Mashiach must also be from Shlomo. It must be a major secret, because I’ve never heard of anyone claiming to be from Shlomo

It actually is against halacha. It’s kneged the Rambam and all of chazal. The mashiach isn’t a person who brings the geula. Rather, the person who brings the geula then becomes mashiach. Of course, Hashem brings the geula, but the mashiach will do the necessary steps he needs to do. Also, the Rambam says mashiach must be from Dovid and also Shlomo. Most people today who can trace themselves to Dovid, are not tracing from Shlomo too. It’s very rare actually to find someone who can say he’s from Shlomo, I’ve definitely never heard of anyone. There are probably only a handful of people like this. It’s a peleh because anyone who can trace to Dovid makes a big deal out of it. Maybe this is all part of hashgacha, so that the mashiach will be someone humble and not a big macher. Ani rochev al hachamor

If it was an even pull, you’d have about the same number of tzadikim as reshaim. This is not the case, however. See in the beginning chapters of Derech Hashem. The Ramchal explains there that after the chet shel etz hadaas, the natural pull is mostly tipped to the side of choshech and gashmi. It’s an uphill battle, but there is siyata dishmaya for those who make the effort

    To novelty, avirah:

You’re assuming the entire reason for AMH is that baalei chaim. Aside from being a midah raah, it could be it’s only derabanan.
From the pashtus of the pasuk, it seems there is a much deeper reason of damo benafsho.

Additionally, (what I had in mind initially) there are many ways to do AMH without causing pain to the animal. But it would still be the exact same isur.
For example, if the animal was out cold. Or if it was one of those animals that can regenerate a limb, so eating that limb would be irrelevant to the animal. I can probably think of other examples.

Regarding sisters, it’s not the mainstream opinion that goyim can marry them. The gemara says a ger cannot marry his sister even after they are both megayer because we don’t want him to enter from chumra to kula (meaning he has a chumra beforehand.) I saw somewhere but don’t remember where, that he can marry his sister from his father but not from his mother.

My point was that it is possible they do have chukim. Not saying for sure, but it seems that way. How would it impact their bechira if we say they do have chukim?

I have interacted with Israelis probably more than most American bachurim when I was in yeshiva there. I had Israeli roommates, went to Israelis for seudos, made Israeli friends, learned ivrit fluently and got around. Most of ny experiences with Israelis have been very pleasant. That didn’t stop me from picking up nuances from the general public, mostly from chilonim but sometimes frum Israelis too.

Some people just don’t have the ability to recognize good and bad simultaneously. I know, it requires too much mental exertion.
I wasn’t speaking lashon hara. I was talking about the chiloni society, but also mentioned that some of the frum olam has been negatively affected to a certain degree. If you think that’s forbidden to say, then you can never hear tochacha from anyone.

    Avira,
According to the mareh makom you showed, it’s only the Tanya who is saying this. His quote from Eitz Chaim doesn’t back up his assertion (although I’m assuming he’s quoting it to further his point about their kavanos, not their nefashos).

Either way, it’s very shver. I don’t know anywhere else that says likewise.

Learn the gemara, it groups poshei umos haolam together with Yisrael. The burning and spreading of their ashes is their schar in gan eden.

Maskil, you haven’t been paying attention. He routinely misquotes or is outright בודה sources. Most of his hanachos are from his own svara

I will admit something that I should have mentioned before.

Although I see no issue with the music I listen to, I wouldn’t recommend anyone who is learning full time to listen to country music. This is not because of the actual songs, but because it is a distraction. Torah requires complete focus and immersion. And that applies to most of today’s Jewish music too.

Once you release a song, you cannot stop people from sharing it. So you are essentially being mafkir your music. People can retain your services to perform, but it’s completely nonsensical to say you own a particular song. This is strictly a modern era concept.

Good question. Do both the writer of the lyrics and the music artist need to have a bris? What if he’s an Arab? These are the deep questions we need to be asking. (Never mind the quality of music though. Shweky is amazing!)

I have absolutely no idea which country songs you chevra have been listening to..

There are many many great country songs that aren’t about women or oso ish. It’s not even difficult to find. Kosher veyosher you might call it.

Avira, you decided that all songs are like ‘Greek music’ or did you hear from an adam gadol? Learn something before you up teitch a deep agadata

I listen to it because it is simply good quality music. I listen to mostly Jewish songs, but that doesn’t exclude other kosher music. And I’m sure you all already know how much treif music there is in the Jewish entertainment industry. No where is there a halacha that says the definitive factor is that the singer must have a bris. Of course, strict halacha would dissuade all music legamrei

Step outside your comfort zone. Get to know other frum communities, where these issues are confronted and not shied away from. There are a handful of frum Jews outside of Borough Park.
Also, we don’t cover up our suffering, but we also don’t wallow in misery. A Jew fixes the problem while hoping for the impossible. Am Yisrael is itself one big nes!

    I have a theory.

They realize that most foreign visitors are anglos. They know that most of those who visit on a regular basis are frum anglos. They simply see an opportunity to keep our frum Jews for as long as possible without negative repercussions.

I have always noticed a slight animosity towards frum people from abroad. They don’t want us. They want secular or very modern Americans to make aliyah. They are terrified of two things. One is that there will be more frum people. The second thing, which is the ikar is that they are afraid of an Anglo takeover. An influx of frum anglos establishing their own communities and increasing their presence would slowly create a major shift in Israeli culture. This detail is crucial. They spent decades being metamei everyone (to a certain subtle degree even the frum olam in Israel r”l, at least a large number of them) with their krum Israeli mindset and mentality. They have brainwashed and inculcated the masses with their stifling and socialist attitudes, way of life, cultural norms (abnormal), krumkeit mentality, azus, dagger in your face approach to others, etc. etc. the whole Israeli crooked mahalach.
Over time, outside influence could lessen their psychological control on society. So they are just stalling for time and possibly plotting more schemes in the meantime.

Hashem won’t let them succeed in their wicked designs.

I meant to buy guns and ammunition. They will be in high demand and the value will rise significantly. Keep it in storage. I’m not aware of any limits. Yiu can buy them in New York state, just not in the 5 boroughs. Also in Connecticut. You can’t bring them back obviously, so you would need to pay for storage.

And how can I make ‘aliyah’ if I can’t even visit? You have a shidduch, job, and dira set up for me? There actually is someone who I was supposed to go out with but couldn’t because I can’t go there.

Anonymous, I don’t care how many machers you know who were able to get in. I don’t have any relatives there. I haven’t found a way to enter.
You just don’t care about yenem, so it doesn’t bother you in the slightest as long as your friends are able to go.

Aaq, then why are Israelis allowed to come and go as they please? And I had covid and two vaccines. If you truly believe they are justified, then you are in the same kitah as those עריצים.
