Australia and Canada have their own versions of Football. the Canadian Football league plays a game similar to the US football

Australian Rules football is a totally different game most like Rugby and almost unrecognizable to Americans Canadians or Europeans

There are communal and Shidduch pressures to keep chumras, otherwise you wont get into a good school or get a good shidduch for your children

Aside from the fact that one probably needs to be matir neder before changing a minhag, assuming for arguments sake that all these kashrus issues are just minhagim.

I doubt your grandparents and great-grandparents only ate Hemish brands.

And the point is people are being many times forced to accept chumras and spend more money when cheaper alternatives are available. Living within ones means , means avoiding expensive luxuries and a chumra is just that a “Luxury”

Because Ashkenzic Chiloni felt that the Sephardim were of a lower class of people and Ashkenazic Rabbis felt that Sephardic Rabbis are not of the same stock as the European Rabbis

The title of this thread is how to spend less and buying twizzelers without a hemish sticker is cheaper and you arent sacrficing anything except the right to pay more

Not I am not discussing only Twizzlers, Since I dont have a word for all that stuff that they stick the hemish sticker on it, I am just calling them twizzlers since thats one of the products that has it.

If you Like Mike and Ike or Ruffles, You can call them that as they have it too

Do you really think twizzlers changes anything in the production process when these “run” are created. Its extortion plain and simple there is not a single difference between the Hemish twizzlers and the regular twizzlers.

They have a huge factory and it costs money to change even one iota of the proccess. Too bad too many are fooled and are forced to pay more for these products

Twizzlers was just a subsitute for anything that is made by a normal brand and a Hemish Sticker is slapped on it. Ive seen it on paskez stuff, Ruffles and more.

How do you think it would look if someone living in a basement apartment being forced to take the bus because they cant afford a car gave money to Tzedkah and they found out the money was given to pay someones mortgage on Bedford Ave and to pay for his Lexus Lease

Empire Chicken is cheaper, Millers Cheese is cheaper.

Kleins ice cream is twice the price of Turkey Hill.

Hemish Twizzlers costs about $1 or 2 more than non Hemish Twizzlers.

C’Y Milk costs more , even in the regular supermarket.

    Stop with the Chumras

If you cant afford it, there is no need for expensive Chalov Yisroel, Chassidic Shechita, Twizzlers with Hemish Haschgachas. Hemish brands in general when cheaper kosher non-hemish brands are available

then give him a pack of ciggarettes and tell him to smoke and not to leave until he does

this method makes over 30% of smokers quit right away

So tell me exactly who says it or what sefer it is that if given a limited amount of Tzedkah money (meaning you only have money for one and not both) One is required to pay the mortgage for someone on Bedford Ave as opposed to feed 100 people via Tomche Shabbos, Fixing a Shul (Money for Tzibur) or giving a Yeshiva money so they can pay the rebbes

Its one thing if a family member foots the bill, Sort of like a parent paying the childs rent or the parent or sibling paying the lexus lease, that is a little different. A parent may even go into debt to pay their childrens mortgage or rent

I am talking about there is a finite amount of money available for Tzadekah. If you add up all the potential Tzadekah money available from all orthodox jews and also add in money from sympathetic non-religious jews you will get a number. Whatever that number is I dont know, If you go going to ask people to pay peoples mortgages on houses on Bedford Ave, another Tzadekah is not going to get the money. Perhaps a Yeshiva will not get that donation to pay a rebbe. perhaps a Shul will not be able to make a repair. Perhaps a Kiruv organization will not be able to run an event to attract people. Perhaps Tomche Shabbos will not be able to feed a family on a shabbos. Etc

A mortgage in the 5 towns might cost you $3000-$4000 a month (Property taxes alone are over $1000 a month)

The reality is just 6 month of raising a mortgage for this would be $24,000.

Its very hard to raise that kind of money and not a very good use of limited Tzedakah money.

And Brooklyn might be a similar amount although the Property taxes would be lower. Houses on Bedford Ave easily are worth over $1 million dollars

Spain is a pretty cool place to visit, However Kosher food is hard to get, The only place to really get it is Barcelona and madrid. Its best to bring it with you. There are a couple of restaurants in Barcelona and a supermarket in Madrid.

I saw streets named for Rabbanim in Toledo and Segovia, even NY doesnt have that

The favorite food in my house is Sushi, We dont eat Gefiltle Fish on Shabbos. We eat Sushi and not California rolls either, Usually Yellow Tails. Only the best in my house

For Kiddish Any Domestic Wines are Assur in my house, especially wines from New York. We only drink imported wine from usually Italy but sometimes France.

For Motzei we eat whole wheat Organic Challas.

For the Main course on Shabbos we usually go a little easy and have Roast Lamb Chops. Chicken is banned from my house

We are also a bit of a little drunks around here and ALWAYS have Johnny Walker Blue.

I am glad to know that if anything would happen to my income you would continue to support me in my cullinary tastes

A OTD Bochur of Rav Chaim Brisker saw him after he became OTD and said, Rebbe I have many questions

Rav Chaim said, Ill answer your questions on condition you had these questions before you were OTD, otherwise they are EXCUSES.

OP said when he schnoors he is upset when people only give him $1 instead of $20 . He calls the giver CHEAP for not given the $20. He should be happy the giver gives whatever they give even if its a Penny.

How is attending an Anglician Church service, with cheese-n-crackers invoked and prayed to in front of a cross, not avoda zora? (Or different than a Catholic Church service, for that matter.)

I am not expert on Christianity, nor do I know the exact difference between the various demonimations, but the “cheese-n-crackers” is part of the catholic mass. Protestants dont do that, nor do many have icons . Also some dont even belive in the trinity (They are called Unitarians).

Most Halachas related to christianity are based on Catholism which is what was common in places jews lives (and the most common in the North East United states which most jews live)

You came here wanted people to applaud your “schnorring”

Without sounding mean if I was in your circumstance this is what I would do

    1) Go directly to DSS and apply for Food Stamps, WIC Section 8, HEAP, Welfare SSI Medicaid and any other government program there is , Just to be able to pay some bills and be able to put some food on the table and pay rent.

    2) After I had at least some backup Id start to look for a JOB. Instead of schorring people for money, how about Schnorring them for a JOB. Id be spending all my time browsing the job websites asking anyone I know about a job. Id walk into stores and ask to fill out a job application (Most jobs arent advertised)

No offense here , but you say you are destitude and your wife is pregnant. I realize Hashem helps, but if things are really that bad, it might be better to wait until things get a little better before having more kids, Did you at least apply for Medicaid and WIC . What if its a difficult pregnacy, what about if your wife needs a C-Section. Kids are always going to the doctor.

Id love to see Charedi sovereignty

Imagine a Society where nobody works and everyone is on Kollel Stipend

Imagine a society where nobody pays taxes since everyone is poor

Everoyne is either a Rebbe or Morah

Nobody is a policeman or Fireman since there is no tax base. No Army so the arabs can go right in and conquer it.

Everyone walks since there is no money for road upkeep since there is no taxes

The only construction is done by outside workers on a true torah system of no mortgages since you cant charge inerest

Ive been to Paris and why a jew would rather be in Paris than Israel is beyond me and the Arabs are worse in France. At least in Israel they are a little afraid of punishment for committing a crime. In paris when an arab kills a jew, he is looked upon as a hero.

Besides Paris is just plain dirty, the Seine is disgusting

FYI If Dinah D’Malchusa Dina doesnt apply to a “Secular Jewish Government”

Why obey such things as traffic laws since one could say its an averiah to stop at a stop sign or go through a red light (As long as you wont get into an accident like there are no cars around) , Why not double and triple park like they do in Brooklyn

Or just throw garbage into the street, After all what Halacha makes its assur to throw trash into the street, there is no danger throwing a candy wrapper in the street.
