I never said Charedim didnt pay taxes, this was about Rav’s posekenim that paying taxes is an AVERAH.,

Its one thing if you dont earn enough to pay taxes, but its quite another if you do and you dont pay.

I only said that any “rav” who holds its an averiah to PAY taxes (when you can) doesnt benefit from the things taxes pay for.

This is an question for an Israeli

Do the Charedim take Kupat Cholim (The National Medical Insurance)

If they do take it , do those who dont belive in the Medina also take it and if they dont who pays for medical costs

Assuming they do take Kupat Cholim (Which I honestly dont know) if you are going to advocate not paying taxes you shouldnt take that either and either raise medical bills from the non-taxpaying public or let people die from non payment of medical services

It is important to make people want to stay instead of chasing them away. Too many people today are being chased away .

In Israel the only way to avoid paying the VAT is to smuggle stuff in the country. It doesnt work like Sales Tax in the US , the VAT is slapped on an item either when its produced or when its imported.

We do not have a VAT here in the US so there is nothing compatible, Perhaps one of the Israelis here could explain it better than me

There are taxes besides income taxes, Like Property taxes sales taxes (VAT in Israel) Gas tax, Airport tax etc I am sure there are other taxes in Israel Ive never even heard of.

Everyone pays some of these taxes, no matter how much money you make

While its hard to explain, many people actually work and warn a living.

If you work and earn a living you are usually off on december 25. Since its a free day off with no obligations, why not enjoy the day off and go out for lunch with your wife or husband

I hope those who claim its an averiah to pay taxes also dont do the following, you are STEALING if you dont pay)

Call the Police or fireman (Taxes pay for them)

Ride or walk on the paved road or sidewalk (Taxes pay for them)

Ride the municipal busses (The fares are subsidized by taxes, you do not pay the actual cost of the ride when you use them)

Do not use the bathroom, Both Running water and the sewer system are paid for with taxes

Do not use the airport (Taxes on airline tickets along with other taxes pay for the airport)

    and so on

As for the Zionist economy, if you’re paying taxes then you’re supporting chillul Shabbos, tarbus ra’a and all the rest.

So is it an Averah to Pay Taxes since you are paying for Chilul Shabos?

There are only so many “frum” jobs available..How many Rebbes, Morah’s Shopkeers are needed.

In order to bring money to the community, you need to work outside the community otherwise the charedi economy will collpase

In the late 19th century in the Shtels, people were poor and starving and povery began to get glorified by many Rabbaim. Unfortunatly gloryfing povery doesnt help you eat and many jews emigrated to america.

Remember the nickname for america was “de Goldena Medina”

$40,000 would support a Torah family for two years. Where’s the heter to spend it on a watch?

By that argument where is the Heter to Eat Sushi, Drink Cabarot Soveignon and drive a New Car.

One could eat bread and water and give the “excess” money to a torah family. Chicken, Kedem Concord Grape and a 1992 Ford Wagon are just fine

Historically much was done to prevent women from becoming Agunahs. Rav Moshe would invalidate Adim from a wedding after the fact in order to declare the marriage not valid and no get needed.

And Ive read Seforim that discussed Iffy Gets like one in Hawaii especially in case where the husband was not too keen on giving one.

It is a new practice to take a hard line on this issue

I have a friend who has simcha from YU. He taught at a Satmar School for a year. The kids would call him a Shaygetz.

If the kids are calling the Rebbes a Shaygetz , How do you think they will behave around others.

I know its Tzdekah, so give the Tzdkah privaely no need to put your name and your whole family on the building

The Chief Rabbi is a political position as much as a religious position.

He is paid by the government and representative of the jewish religion to the government.

Here is the US we have seperation of church and state so we do not have such a position and many dont exactly understand it , what it entails or the need for it.

A wise decision is not nessasarily right.

Regading the Holocaust, Based on previous experience staying where you were was good advice and wise. However the rules changed. There was always Anti-Semitism and maybe some people were killed in a pogram, but never before were entire commuinities wiped out (The Crusades and Chemneski came nowhere near to the Nazis)

Just for the record I am not saying you shouldnt ask a Gadol for advice or a Bracha. Of course you should, but in non-Halachic areas you are not required to follow and you should seek as many people you can for proper guidence who might have relavent information.

If C’V you need Brain Surgery seek several opinions from experts in the field then seek the Rav for a Bracha.

There was a famous case about 20 years ago of a Chassidic woman in Brooklyn with issues, The issues were known to the community . The Rebbe told the parents to have more children and she eventually killed one of her kids.

When she was being arrested she was pregnant too.

Its actually not a straw man argument. There is definatly different views about asking Shalias about not Halachic issues and if you must listen to a tshuva if given one.

Would you trust the Gadol in answering medical or financial questions unrelated to Halacha (Should I go to that Doctor, Should I leave my job)

Many asked Shalias before WWII and were told to stay and everything will be fine. The Hungarian especially told them to stay put and the leadership knew what was happening to Polish Jewery

Emunas Chachanim IMO refers to DAYAN. That if you go to the Dayan that you have faith in him being able to judge fairly without bias.

Emunas Chachamin IMO does not mean i would trust a Gadol to perform brain surgery on me.

I dont mean to doubt anyone’s faith, but the Steipler would never meet with a woman, He only took Kvitels in writing because he was hard of hearing and he would not take Kvitels from women.

If you are at a counter and a customer comes in and verbally assults you , you call the police. You DO NOT throw bleach on them, Its illegal.

In Europe most Shuls have armed guards watching them and you need permission to enter on Shabbos
