Slightly off topic, but I went to HCS Shabboton on Parshas Beshalach and there were over 700 couples there most of children who are on the ASD, please don’t say the black hat and Chasdish don’t provide support.

@GH, “there are huge unfunded pension obligations for mass transit workers”
If the railroads go bankrupt the pension obligations are voided, but that will never happen in a region where they kowtow to the transit unions.

@Charliehalll, you are factually incorrect, last line completed was the 2nd Ave Subway in 2017.

The peril is mostly in the suburban systems such as LIRR, MNRR and NJT where ridership is off by 60%. And we are not just talking NY, Boston, Philly, Chicago, Denver and BART all are showing similar numbers due to remote work. What is scaring them the most is the concept of hybrid work where the commuter comes once or twice a week and they no longer buy a monthly commuter pass

@GH, after 9/11 airline security changed forever, ecommerce changed the face of retail and covid may change the way people work. The buggy whip, wagon wheel and harness manufactures all lost to the automobile, the trains lost ground to the airplanes in the 1950s and film lost to digital pixs.
Change my friend is constant and to the people who’s ox is being gored not exactly pleasant.

@jackk, To equate a government entity spending tax money like drunken sailors to appease a bunch of hypochondriacs or to distract attention from the fact that the supply chain is broken and we are suffering from hyperinflation to the ness of the mabul is patently absurd that it does not dignify a response.

I am a life long Monseyite, the problem started about 40 years ago when they wanted to cull the Bear Mountain / Harriman herd and the animal right people went nuts and fought the plan, result? then exapanded the range from Stony Pt. to Haverstraw to Ramapo to NJ.
I reme, ber 30 years ago there was not a deer to be seen in Monsey.
PS hunting is not allowed within 1000 Ft of a residence so that pretty much rules out Hunting in Rockland

My Grandfather ZL. would always get disgusted when a American balbatisher person woould talk about food, he would say in der alter heim who would talk about food, the shleppers and the schnorrers who never had food and when they had meat the only thing that remained was the memory.
I found as a rule the people busy talking about food are very shallow people with no real interests in life.

I don’t know where you are getting your facts from, people are very open about it, look at the support networks that exist today, Yachad, Rayim, Hamaspik, HCS etc.etc.
I frankly don’t know what your hang up is,, do you want them to walk around with a sign saying i have ASD? the vast majority of the frum people with ASD live normal productive lives with some outside support.

Syag, I just was reading someones rail about methane gas and the ozone layer and BBB, and thats why I posted.

@ Jackk, and I dont care what the talking heads OR paid hacks like Dr. Howard Zucker aka Andy Cuomo’s lapdog have to say, I have enough confidence in people to make the own judgements.
So if an airline CEO says the HEAP filters filter out 99.97 of the air, people are capable of deciding if they want to wear a mask while flying, on the other side of the coin, if you, Charlie, GH and the rest want to triple mask be my guest

@Jackk, I agree on that aspect, if your dont like the resturant rules of the places that require vacaines then eat at home, conversly if the shoe is on the other foot and your in a place that does not require vacs or masks [such as FL. or TX.], then stop complaining and eat at home.
I am consistant with both unlike you.
And yes if some airlines lift the mask mandate and you don’t like then don’t fly with them,

Gary Kelly wore a mask at the Senate hearing, if the Senate would have needed to close because then it would have been a huge accomplishment on the part of Mr. Kelly.
FYI a frind of mine just flew on a international airline and when one of the mask frantics complained the people were unmasked, the flght attendant told them “get over it”

@AAQ, the companies own or lease the planes, they also hire the CEOs who set policy, we live in a free market economy [at least for the time being] and if one airline has a mask mandate and the other does not, nothing is stopping you or Jackk from not flying on the who does not have the mandate, its called individual choice.

@yserbius123 “But I’m always flabbergasted at the sheer adversity so many people have to wearing masks.”
Some people love the smell of burning wood others hate it, some people love loud music others hate it,
I have no issue of your loving your mask, wear it with a self contained breathing appatus all I care, but dont shove your likes down my throat.
The CEOs testified that there is no rhyme or reason for masks wearing on a plane, you want to double or triple mask be my guest but leave me out of your compulsions.
