What about all the heimish papers that they know most of the readership will read on shabbos but shouldn’t read advertisements or business strategies on Shabbos.

It’s growing in popularity because the old school kvetch isn’t connecting to some people. You need to ask why the old school litvish style davening isn’t inspiring people as it used to.

iamhappy while it’s possible to get into corporate America with a btl the likelihood that you’ll get an interview let alone the job without connections snd prior relevant work experience is not high. It is possible to get into a good firm with a btl, if you happen to want to go into law.

UJM there are people who were born litvish who decide to start to wear bekishes today. Meaning their parents are but now they connect with chasidus. Take a walk in Israel 3 LA and you’ll see people with American out of town accents like that.

And only the litvish roshei yeshivas wear kapotas today. Though most lubavitch chasidim do.

UJM I just gave you a name and I know who his family is better than you. Nonetheless I backed it up. Legally a university has to make such accommodations. If an LGBT person came out with a suit against a lakewood yeshiva they would get into trouble.

If you’re on the level that you can keep yourself inspired and focused on the day without them and not batul or ch”v watch things that are inappropriate for the day, then kol hakavod. Otherwise please share your thoughts with various gedolim who give divrei chizuk on this day to livestream audiences throughout the world and see what they have to say. Putting down others for observing tisha bav in this way isn’t bringing us closer to moshiach.

On one hand, it isn’t so bderech tznius. On the other, it can give a bas yisroel a positive influence on YouTube. Would you rather a Jewish girl watch a video of a goyish singer on YouTube or her to watch a video of a Jewish female singer that can bring her inspiration? We’re not in the vilna ghetto anymore.

AAQ there are exceptions to everything but for the most part taking someone out of a torah environment at age 20 to just work is not a great idea.

AAQ yes but to be able to learn all day without interruptions, the ceiling higher for potential. Take the 20 year old out of yeshiva is a risk that he falls into a bad crowd of other 20 year olds not learning.

I think it depends how old he is, what he’s doing for work, and where the person is holding. Between the ages 19-23, it’s to focus on growing in learning. Once a person leaves yeshiva full time, the learning is not the same. There’s something about being in the 讚 讻讜转诇讜转 of a yeshiva where the bren of Torah is felt throughout the day. Unfortunately it happens too often that a bachur leaves yeshiva holding in a decent place, and then once he leaves to go to work, he falls into a bad crowd and his ruchniyus levels go down. There’s no better “system” to be in than a yeshiva for a young bochur. It’s better for someone to be working than doing nothing. It happens to be that usually that when someone thinks the “yeshiva system” isn’t for him, it’s self-diagnosed. There are different types of yeshivas for different types of people.

Because like many other topics there’s more than one issue at hand. In a lot of cases these shooters have been tipped off to the FBI and police and not much was done to stop them. There’s a mental health issue not addressed. It isn’t only a gun issue. Chicago has all kinds of gun control laws and police and it doesn’t do enough to address the problem. There aren’t many mass shootings in Alabama.

What some called neo chasidus is dancing and singing at a kumzits with food and alcohol while learning a bit of kabalah and not really understanding it. Chasidus isn’t something you just become; it’s a level that most people don’t reach.

You can make guidelines for people instead of burying your head in the sand. And almost every yeshiva benefits from the Internet in terms of fundraising. I never suggested that it’s hefker and that there isn’t a bad side to it, but the reality is that it has become a big part of the world. How many shidduchim today are redt through whatsapp and other platforms. And I don’t buy the attitude of they didn’t have it in the olden days and people were happy. No not everyone was.

    Haleivi,

I’m not ignoring that there are dangers but it’s easier to say treif and ban it than to look into the possibilities of how it can be of benefit to us. I have a filter as per daas torah but it doesn’t mean I say it’s all bad. Waze wasn’t a benefit to everyone? Can we live without these things? Yes. But there are a lot of benefits that have fron it that have improved our lives.

    Avirah,

That means it takes hate wisdom to be matir than to make assur. Almost every yeshiva has a rayze campaign. 2012 only accomplished appealing to an audience who weren’t really using the Internet anyway. There could have been positivity about the possibilities of tzedakah and tourah sources as are the ways internet is used by many baal habatim even in lakewood Williamsburg and in Israel today. But the point is that other types of Jews are using the technology and are looking to be on the right side of history. What happens in a yeshiva isn’t nevessarily applied to what happens in the general world.
