I have to give Obama kudos for making it possible for the Republicans to be in control of the presidency and congress.

For the guys…. Don’t be a shoiteh. If you find somebody you click with and admire as a human being then everything else will fall into place. I was lucky to find a great cook in addition to having everything I was looking for but it wasn’t a prerequisite. I know many couples where the husband does the cooking because he enjoys it more. A person can learn how to cook and bake but everything else…….. not so much!

Why are some posters using the word “creepy”? You’re making certain assumptions without basis. How many doctors do you know that have a male secretary? If there is a problem with yichud then she needs to deal with it as prescribed by her rav without attributing negative intentions to the doctor.

I don’t think anybody can answer such a general question. I’ve rented to frum families and have had good results. I can give you some recommendations as a general rule and specifically regarding renting to frum as opposed to renting to others.

    1. If this is in NYC apartment do not give a lease. The tenant can get away with not paying rent and it could take you up to a year to get them evicted. No lease means they’re renting month to month. This requires you give them one month notice for them to leave and much less of a headache if they stop paying rent.

    2. You might feel much more comfortable asking a non-frum family for documenting income and a credit check.

    3. If an maintenance issue develops on yom tov or shabbos, a frum family will be more understanding if there are delays in remediation.

The YeshivaWorld as well as other frum web sites have been advertising the charidy campaign that is collecting for his granddaughter’s wedding expenses.

Hupat Ha’ir is all over the internet schnorring and HaRav Chaim Kanievsky “is quoted by HaMevaser as saying that there is no excuse to permit the internet for those claiming it is essential for a livelihood since rabbonim have already ruled the threats that are associated with the internet are simply too great and one must simply distance oneself from it.”

From my own experience. My son was initially rejected by a high school because he admitted on the interview that his parents allow him to use filtered internet. That same principal later on asked my son to navigate web sites to post the yeshivos shiurim.

I’m not referring to Darchei specifically but isn’t it hypocritical that Mosdos bash the internet until they need it to collect money?

Just to add to mw13’s point. I wouldn’t try to dress in clothing that feels like I’m playing dress up. If you wear the yarmulke/kippa (male) you’re good to go. As you evolve you might find that one particular style of dress or culture “speaks” to you then follow you heart. Slow and steady change can integrate into your normal way of life and will remain. Drastic overnight change can revert just as easily. Good luck!

I disagree. If you are trying to help them with a shidduch, that’s the first question a potential suitor will ask. They need to get over it. Don’t ask any questions unless you will follow up. Then it would be prying into their personal life without any purpose.

This coffee room chat is really hitting home with me. I wasn’t allowed to send my daughter to school until I was paid up in full. I’m earning an ok salary so I don’t qualify for any assistance but tuition’s are sinking me quickly into a dark hole of out of control credit card debt. When I see people go around in shul collecting money I cry on the inside because I should be one of those people but I don’t have guts to do it. Looking for second job but I have no clue on how to get one. Getting very depressed.

Why don’t you turn the tables on your friend? The next time she calls, listen to her for a while and then tell her that its your turn. Start talking about things that are going on in your life and do this everytime she calls. Be sure you both have equal time. My guess is she wants to do all the talking and you to do all the listening and she’ll stop calling you when it doesn’t work out that way.

I was directed, by a known posek, to call the morgue and ask if there were corpses of Jewish people stored there. I tried to explain the nature of my question to the person answering the phone but they thought I was pranking them and hung up on me.

I could never get a straight answer from a rav about this. Very frustrating.
