It is quite telling that right here people who weren’t even on the jury are not even embarassed to say they would convict someone without having even heard the full litany of evidence or full defense. This is without even getting into the admitted fact, even by the prosecution, that the entire case of cards was built on hearsay of a he-said/she-said case.

It makes one realize that some of the very commenters here are no better than the 12 off-the-street jurors who can qualify to sentence someone to life imprisonment with qualifications of no more than being an unemployed 18 year old high school dropout.

mdd: There is not only no CH currently with the learning, there is a tremendous Kiddush Hashem by the learners.

tahini: The arrogance of those thinking they are not meant to learn Torah because they are serving in the Army is breathtaking. Those who are learning should continue full-time learning to make up for the vast majority who do no Limud Torah.

And Satmar did not ask or “allow” the State to fly the deceased over. The State did it without asking. Satmar would have rather have done it themselves rather than have the State desecrate the dead with their unholy flag wrapped around the coffin as a “shtuch” to frum yidden. And frum yidden opposed to the State have more right to be in Eretz Yisroel, where they lived before the zionists ever arrived, than do the zionists. The zionists are a violent war-mongering bunch who came in violence and remain steeped in it.

Likud/Lieberman will get less seats than they have now. They will be more reliant on the minor parties. The question is if Bibi will stick with Shas/UTJ or will pick Lapid/Livni.

It’s not possible to know in advance if the frum will be hurt or gain.

Agreed that Mr. Amsallem will get a zero. Rav Yitzchok will obviously get none.

Yes, Horowitz has many more opportunities to shoot from the hip than Farkas ever will. He is a blogger and he posts all kind of junk from the rumor mill all the time. Weberman is entitled to a voice far more than Horowitz, especially considering the complete lack of evidence in the miscarriage of justice from his show trial by a kangaroo court.

Would you like to be silenced if you were G-d forbid convicted of something you were innocent of by 12 jurors whose qaulifications to judge someones life is their being unemployed or homeless or drunks?

yytz: Europe is doing significantly worse economically over the last number of years. Countries with socialist health care, including Canada and parts of Europe, have long wait times before you can see a medical specialist. And Medicare is not something people are generally happy with.

It isn’t right that while the Chareidim protect the country with their learning, the Chilonim completely shirk their duty and responsibility of Limud Torah while benefiting from the full-time learners. The Chilonim avoiding Torah bothers so many religious Jews.

mdd: Genuk with your bubbe maisas. You were given multiple names of gedolim who support the current learning system in Eretz Yisroel. You were asked for the specific name of ONE GODOL who is against it and wants to force the Bnei Torah out of the Beis Medrash. You cannot produce the name of even one godol.

It is daas baalei batim like mdd versus all the gedolim.

mdd: 1) The chareidim in Kollel don’t get any money that is unavailable to chilonim in universities, etc. 2) akuperma’s point was that Israel could be nuked despite Israel’s own nukes. 3) Since you are taking a stand against many gedolei yisroel (some of whom have been named above) you need to back up your position with a godol. Please provide the name of a godol today who supports forcing Bnei Torah out of the Beis Medrash. Which godol?

Their taina is neither fair nor reasonable. You may think it is, but the Gedolim and common Jewish sense say otherwise.

If they go by patrilineal descent, their claims to being Jewish cannot be relied upon as their Jewish status claims may be based (somewhere up the lineage) on a gentile mother and Jewish father.

So put the bluetooth on only when you have a call. Instead of sticking a highly radiated cellphone to your ear you use a less radio intensive bluetooth. And you’re better off. (As long as you only wear the bluetooth during calls.)

Absolutely incorrect. You cannot punish Jewish children because of the actions of their parents. Even TV is an invalid comparison, since in that case it is the child himself watching the TV. Here there is nothing the child is doing wrong.

You’re going to murder Jewish children because of who their father is? That is a goyishe midda.

Forget a minyan. What about kosher food? Or, more fundamentally, a kosher crowd.

Find a kosher crowd first and you won’t be on a cruise that you are looking for a minyan on.

Gedolim don’t take their protests to the newspapers. They take them to the Beis Medrash. With, usually, no recordings or press reportings. Gedolim are not publicity hounds.

And after you are done explaining the above, please also tell us how having the boys in a girls school is better than having the boys in their boys school.

Correct, there is no difference between the two. Both choose to engage in their deviant behavior. And, furthermore, both types have a “tendency” towards such behavior. The good people (of either of these tendencies) choose to overcome them and don’t act upon such tendencies, while the evil people act upon such tendencies.

samzacky: First of all, those columnists you cite are post-Reb Yaakov’s time. So your point isn’t valid. Second of all, when a paper runs a column of a certain rabbi or person that in no way, shape or form means such rabbi is giving a hechsher to the paper. This is especially true if the writer is writing something that is carried by numerous outlets (i.e. syndicated content). But even if the paper is the only outlet this point holds true. If I write an article in the New York Times, that does not mean I appove of or agree with that periodical.

    1) I read your Touro links. It does not seem to be a club but rather a discussion of toeiva. This is not excusable but is far less severe than YU’s financial support and tolerance of an ongoing toeiva club.

    2) Even if Touro is supporting a club (something I see no evidence of), then they too must be condemned for that. It in no way shape or form excuses YU’s reprehensible behavior in supporting this abomination.

If there was a government mandate that in order to receive state funding the university must provide a “room” for the night for adulterers and toeivaniks to engage in their immorality, that makes it less assur to provide a room for that purpose? In order to receive funding? Chas V’Shalom!

These immoral people are acting out their immoarlities, not merely suppresing those “feelings”. Who do you think you’re kidding?

But let’s put that aside and pretend you’re right for a moment. Obviously you support a “YU Adultery Club” “support group” to help “support” YU students who have such feelings (but of course don’t act it out.)

There is no difference between the two.

You are changing your tune. You previously claimed Y.U. has no clubs that promote promiscuos behavior. I’ve shown you from YU’s own website they in fact do have YU recognized and funded toeiva promiscuos club.

The mere fact a toeiva club exists in YU promotes such immoral behavior, no less than a “YU Adultery Club” merely billed as a “support group” for adulterers at YU would implicity (or even explicitly) support such promiscuos immoral behavior.
