Let’s have them in mind in our tefillos! Anyone have their names?

I’m a woman. What’s wrong with davening kabbalas Shabbos friday night while wearing a pretty robe & elegant slippers? Many people do it & it never occured to me that it’s not proper.

Ich bin goornisht mechadesh, but When given a choice between Dam (DUMb) or Ttzefardia one would choose the easier “makah”. (Plague)

Now since Obama is a simply a hot air balloon, he has nothing to offer, at least McCain has some experience. And his muslim background also makes me uneasy, so there goes McCain..

how would you handle a rebel who decided to be mechalel shabbos out of bitterness / depression? (not necessarily due to lack of belief – if it matters)

someone confided to me that she started doing some not good things (although privately)

I don’t know what to tell her. If I tell her to stop, I might lose a chance to make her come back, on the other hand it’s my achryus if I ignore it, isn’t it?

Another thing.. If you stop & think about this whole concept of cramming big families into tiny decrepit 2 room bungalows – which are at the mercy of any sudden wind (or almost, calm breeze) to fall apart.. Hashem yerachem. They’re so unsafe.

OTOH if you want to be positive, you can take a lesson from it = histapkes b’miet – if these ppl. would be forced to live under such conditions all year round they wouldn’t survive… but in the summer – not even a kvetch! It’s marvelous.

Slabodka – couldn’t agree more. Another point: MONEY. Who can afford renting an expensive bungalow nowadays? Most people not. Although there is something about the yishuv hadaas, & the fresh country air, this peer pressure / competition has to stop. I know of more than one family who was forced to go into debt in order to buy a summer home since everyone in their “group” (who possibly did have the finances) bought.

Please… a little bit of open-mindedness! If someone doesn’t agree with all your shitahs & svaros it doesn’t mean yet that they’re “frei”! I trust YW enough that if posters were truly pro-freikeit, their comments wouldn’t go through so easily. So to those who keep ‘adding names to the list'(of freikeit yidden) please cool it a little.

Oh- By the way, aren’t you afraid of chapping shlechta hashpaos? By constantly corresponding with apikorsim you can really become negatively influenced.. so watch out. I’m scared for you!

Some people (& often the juicy gossipers) tend to become extremely holy when it comes to giving information for a shidduch. If you’re unsure whether you should divulge the flaw or not – think, ‘if this would be for me, MY son, daughter, sister, friend, etc., would I want someone to hide this piece of info. from me?’

If the aswer is a definite no then please say the truth!!

I can relate to what you’re saying… At my first job our office manager was out to make us miserable, & all 6 of us ended up leaving within the year. When I looked for my second job, the 1st thing I inquired about, was if the boss is nice. Some ppl. don’t care, as long as they come home with a fat check, but for me working 9-5 under a decent person outweighed the other factors.

every restaurant has different things that I like, so when I’m in the mood of pizza I go to one, & for a slice of potato kugel I’d go to another, ( & when I want a better price in a 3rd, etc. ) but in general, Cafe W (Itzu’s) on Lee Ave, Williamsburg has very good (milchige) food.

I substituted in several heimishe schools, & 1 of them still owes me money from last year. My friend had told me before that I should know that I’ll be doing it l’shem mitzva, & I should have listened to her.

(but it really depends on the school, some do pay on time)

In any case when I realized that I’ll never see the $$ from them, I removed myself from their list!

I was horrified to see girls / women in Boro Park walking on the streets without stockings! No, not sheer tights, short kneehighs or socks with holes. BARE FEET!

The 1st time I saw it I blinked several times to make sure I wasn’t imaginging things. But I’ve seen it many times, unfortunately. Now I know some posters here have this attitude of ‘mind your own business’, & in general I’m also of that belief, but this is an obsolute Pirtza – no excuses, adaraba if any1 disagrees, find me a heter for this.

matisyohu28- are you the letter writer by chance?

ok I just guessed, cuz I found it strange that they both use the same words like “Chayos” & b’chlal very similar style of writing. But it is possible.. 2 ppl at a kiddush & 1 says to the other “waddya say, shmulik, how sickening!” etc….

& then they both decide to write letters.. well yes, everything is possible.

people think the chassidim are extreme in dressing? Open Rabbi Falk’s book on tznius – think it’s called “oz vehadar levusha” & you’ll be surprised. The same halachos apply to everyone.

The last comment of the 2nd letter writer though, (“there will be no klal yisrael in 20 years..”) was obviously written in a moment of anger, cuz it doesn’t make too much sense. For 1, we all believe moshiach will be here by then…
