    Chasidim are Jewry’s Marine Corps.

What funny is Chasidus was for people who could not take the rigidneess of jewish life. Thats why Chassidim sing more and have Farbrgins unlike yeshivish.

It was never meant to be the most strict of stricts, It was meant for the everyman

    Aurora,

you will be fine at a Chabad event.

While I do have reservations about Chabad, Their outreach is great and the people they send out for outreach are really socialble people. People who are really friendly many times in a hostile evironment. Also its likley the people you will see there are more like yourself than you think.

I really think you will enjoy yourself and unlike a shabbos or other Holiday you can leave and drive away whenever you want

I know of a big rav who poskens that childrens medicines dont need Hashcha and even voluntary stuff like Vitamins and the reason is, these generally taste better and its hard to get kids to take the stuff period, If it tastes better they will take them .

And this was told to me by me yeshivish Pediatrician

There are items that many wont eat like Chalav Stam, but any Rov will not tell you they are Treif. There is no Averiah for eating Haagan Daze other than it being extremely fattening.

Very few Ravs will say its ok to eat Sturgen even if there are a few opionions that say its kosher

I have no knowledge of this case, but why do you assume the burden of proof, even regarding yichud, is on the defense?

I have no knowledge of the case, but I know the proof is always on the prosecution, Now if the Prosecution brought up the Yichud issue , The defense would need to refute that evidence otherwise the Jury can use that as proof of guilt and will convict

It also saddens me how I see charedim being bullied by other Charedim. It shouldnt be that WOW is scared to go to the police and intimidated from doing so.

If the man had robbed your house, would you go to the Rav or go to the Police. If he robbed your house you would not have the kids write a letter.

I am sorry to say this , but I would leave the community if I was forced to allow an abuser to run free and imimidated by other community members not to punish them.

If the man was a “Talmud Chacham” and owned a butcher that was caught selling trief, would you buy from it or write him a letter.

Abusers must be kicked out of the community like an insect on a vegetable.

If there was one insect in your lettuce would you eat it assuming you knew it was there and couldnt remove it?

There must be ZERO tolerance for abusers

    OP

I didnt realize you were a noahide, YES you can write a sefer torah cheaper in china, india or whatever and you can get them to write in the nicest caligraphy (probably nicer than most soferimg today)

However a sefer torah is supposed to be written with the upmost respect and awe and solmness to god. A chinese , African , Indian or whatever just wouldnt have it. A computer could not duplicate this either.

    WOW,

I am aware of the reprecussions if you go to the police and I still stand by my statement.

I would not want to live in an area where buillies (or Sikarim) rule the roost, I would consider it an honor to be kicked out from such an area.

Not to be racists, but if you lived in an area near a yeshiva, but there was a vicious anti-semetic gang that lived there too and terrorized residents including yourself, would you stay or would you go.

Dont make major changes unless you are asked to do so.

Ask what he congregation wants and stick to it, do not make major changes from the davening they are used to unless you want to get fired

Nobody will take the word of a married adult male over a 14 year old kid

Now why it’s “very low .. of importance”, I think that being that not everyone is in position of power, know-how, courage, not everyone is suited for that job. That’s a job for people of stature – sanhedrin are commanded to root out and rid out evil doers, not anyone and everyone can take the law into one’s own hands.

However EVERYONE is commanded not to eat forbidden food

Which is a bigger Chilul Hashem, The Mayor of NYC eating in an obvious treif restaurant or a court case currently occuring in Brookyln.

I dont know if you read other thread or follow trends here in the US, but the issue of abuse is becoming more and more of an issue here in the US.

This man is an ABUSER and must be stopped, because he is a “Talmad Chacham” yellow “Mechalal Shabbos” does not absolve him of being an abuser.

If you kid thinks you did wrong here , I think you REALLY need to call the police . Otherwise you might have another OTD kid as this will simmer.

So what if the police are anti-religious, it doesnt mean they are bad people , maybe it will teach him a lesson.

Finally , I think you need to call the police for yourself. It will give you peace knowing you did the right thing

WOW, I forgot the hebrew name for those people, but I know the english word for them is Zelots, they are the same people in RMS spitting at an 8 year old girl and in Meir Sharim terrorizing shopkeepers not to sell english books.

I wonder if your older son met such a person and was turned off and didnt tell you.

BTW if It was my kid, and the Rav wouldnt do anything, id call the Police.

One it will make your kid respect you and realize he is a criminal and not a chashov a yid , and its illegal to touch anyones kid thats not your own, Perhaps a few days in Jail and a punishment will make that clear.

I am in the minority here, but This is why I am against Beshows and Shidduch dating (Means 3 dates or so and engagement or breakoff)

When you are forced to make a life decision based on a few moments under duress you might make pre-concieved decisions based on height or weight or other nonsense things

IMO 3-6 worth of dating gives people enough time to really get to know the person and really decide if they want to spend the rest of their lives with them. And extra couple of month make a differnce in a lifetime

The abuse coverup IMO is the BIGGEST Chilul Hashem and the greatest threat to charedi Judaism and its fairly easy to fix.

In general society abusers are considered the lowest of the low, nobody like abusers, just look at Penn State or the Catholic Church. Harboring them not hurts more people, It hurts Rabbinic leadership and does cause people not to listen and not respect Rabbenim. People dont respect abusers and they dont respect people who habor abusers.

Every averiah caused by someone who went OTD because of abuse and rabbinic coverup of the abuser is a stain on the community

A little OT what would you do if the Rav took the mans side who hit your son saying he was correct

A lot of OTD is caused by the “Rav” or “Rebbe” taking the Perps side

You can buy Seforim on Amazon and ebay. In fact if you read the reviews of the Stone Chumash on Amazon you will see some of the reveiwers werent even jewsish.

You can also buy kosher sefer torah on ebay or estate sales where they are sold to the highest bidder (and maybe even be legally required to by a bankruptcy court)

    Loveparty…

I am not naive and was a teenager once too, I know exactly what goes on. The problem is some “genius” is going to say, Have a Shiur for the boys or have a place the girls can do chessed, Like that is going to work.

I know people who let teenagers hang out at their house, they figure its better for them to hang out (in mixed company) in a place where they can be watched and in a safe place than a place where nobody is watching and who knows what goes on.

If you want teens to stop hanging out at the Pizza store after shabbos, give them an alternate place to go without and learning or chessed obligations

Give them a place to go and shmooze with their friends and maybe have the pizza go to the place. Like a Beis Yaakov gym for girls and maybe the gym of a yeshiva for the boys.

If you want to stop it, You need to give an alternative choice and not one teens will reject because of rigidness. They are not learning or doing Chessed at the Pizza shops either
