Trademarks also have similar fair uses. You need a Patent / Copyright attorney to decide if the O-U can stop it or not. This very well not be a kashruth issue as much as a copyright / trademark issue . You can sometimes use trademarks without permission as long as you cite the trademark
There is something called the fair use doctrine meaning you are allowed certain leeay in using a trademarked item and the owner of the trademark cant really stop you

The Chofetz Chaim was still alive 85 years ago. I didn’t know any of his children were so not frum that this great/great/grandchild would have almost no Jewish knowledge.

My rosh yeshiva has said this yes that a large percent of these places are really Jewish. They are hidden Jews, so dont go crazy for Jewish candidates- there is a good shot we have already had a Jewish president and dont even know it.
There are geneologists who research these things and researching presidential candiates is always done. They found for example that Obama and Mitt Romney for example were 7th or 8th cousins. So there is definatly proof that there hasnt been a jewish president

There are always issues related to the entire community that some consensus can be reached. You dont think most of the community tried to get together after Hurricane Sandy which hit the area severly. You dont think they try to do things related to Hatzollah. You dont think they can help with Tzedakah issues (Ie someone needs tzedkah from a poorer section, goes to his rav, who goes to a rav from the more well off section and is able to get the Tzedakah). There is Kulanu which serves everyone and there are other things as well
Not all vaads are just kashruths. Some deal with communal issues as well. Kashruths are just the most public of them

The Kehilla is really called the vaad of the 5 towns and Far Rockaway. from a jewish point of view the 5 towns and Far Rockaway are one Kehilla, however from a legal secular view they are not
Bayswater is not directly on the border, Its a few miles into the city
Lakewood has open land which the 5 towns area does not. You could not have new developements there like you do in Lakewood, there is no free land (Except wetlands which are environmentally protected and in flood zones)

Shor Yshuv is on the Far Rockaway side of the Nassau Expressway which makes it confusing and I think NYC abuts the property (The houses behind it are in Queens..According to google maps). Unless you are a survyer it would be hard to know the boundaries between nassau and queens
Unless you are familiar with the area, you might not realize that the boundary between Nassau County and NYC is just an artificial boundary, there is no real seperation .I am not even sure that the nassau Expressway is the border. You basically walk across the street and you are in nassau or NYC
The Kollels are in Far Rockaway. I think even Shor yshuv which is quite large is in Far Rockaway.
For some reason, most if not all the Kollels are in the NYC part and not the Nassau County part

the 5 towns really isnt a place, It really includes Far Rockaway which is quite charedi, however Far Rockaway is part of NYC and Lawrence is not (Its in Nassau County)
the taxing districts are different between Far Rockaway and the 5 Towns and the school disctricts are completely different as Far Rockaway is NYC schools and Lawrence is Lawrence schools

Lakewood & Monsey vs the 5 towns gets differnt crowds. The 5 towns tends to get more modern people , Lakewood tends to get more yeshivish people and money more chassidish people. Unless you know people in those circles you would not know people who are moving to those places

A child is being abused often and you have seen it more than once. You are asked to testify against the abuser and when you do the child will stop being abused and be safe. If you do not testify the abuser will not stop what they are doing.
Which do you choose, Stopping that child from being abused and lose your Olam Habah and testify or do you not testify, the child will continue to get abused and you will maintain your olam habah for not testifying
Because non-frum or Non jews do the wrong thing does not mean we should be copying it

Unfortunatly this one company did not pay NY the sales tax they collected either and NY does not take too kindly when you collect sales tax from customers and dont give the money to the state and they punish you severly . They are no longer in business
One doesnt have to be an auditor to know these things. People who work at a job for a while are not stupid or naive, they know whats going on. Sometimes even the people who are getting paid off the books even brag about it.

In the 5 towns, the people have more money and belived more in civic responsibility to the public school system. So they agreed to pay the money needed. That is why there was no issue there

Comparing a Rav who assurs a TV vs a “Rav” who lets an abuser go free is nonsense. A ‘Rav” who does not have an abuser be reported is no differnt than a “Rav” who allows ham to be eaten at the December 25th “Seduah”
If I got a “Psak” not to go to the authorities when my kid was abused. Id get another Rav

Unfortunalty people paying off the books is well known in certain areas. Maybe not people you know or where you live, but it is a problem in NYC area. Everyone knows about it. Its no secret. I even used to work for people who used to pay partially off the books so its not even hearsay, I saw it with my own eyes

After the fact, the abuse already happend and now you want to go to the police about the abuser and your rav paskens . Its Moser. and not to report. Do you listen to your rav or do you go anyway?

People are not concerned about such minor matters. They are refering to such practices are “Paying off the books” or not charging sales tax for example
