Actually, Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg mentioned היתר מאה רבנים as a solution in to the Shiduch Crises in absence of another option.

I’d imagine it be limited to very special situations.

    A few points:
⬤ Every single major medical agency supports this vaccine.
⬤ You really think that the most advanced medical experts at FDA, EU, UK NHIS and every Western health agency are all conspiring to damage the health of their own peoples, their relatives and friends? Does it make sense that they will damage their own professional reputations?
⬤ Pfizer’s stock is barely affected by the vaccine. Are they motivated to lie, cause widespread infertility etc and kill every other portfolio they’re advancing?

Smoking reduces 14 years of life, on average.

However, vaping is not in the same equation here. It is an alternative to smoking.

According to the National Academies of Science:

“Laboratory tests of e-cigarette ingredients, in vitro toxicological tests, and short-term human studies suggest that e-cigarettes are likely to be far less harmful than combustible tobacco cigarettes.”

People think that nicotine causes cancer. Nicotine is addictive, but it’s the other chemicals in the smoke that kills. Without the cancerogenic cocktail in tobacco smoke, nicotine is not much different than caffeine.

Yes, there can be some other contaminants in vapor, but for nationally known brands (eg, Juul), they are subject to regulation and litigation and must be very careful. And even for lesser known manufacturers, the existing research indicates that they are far less toxic than cigarettes.

“L’maaseh there will be people smoking on pesach/chol hamoed. Do you want them being over on two aveiros, or rather only one?”

    1) Many simply don’t smoke on Pesach and some even quit as a result – ????? ????? ???????.

    2) It certainly created legitimacy for smoking, especially when they advertise in some of the religious newspapers here in Israel bragging about their Hehsher,

    3) At the very least there should be a disclaimer regarding general Halachik permissibly. Would anyone give a Hechser to a salmon & beef sandwich?

    4) And then you of course have the issue of Chilul Hashem. Last year when they advertised the Hechsher it generated some horrible Facebook posts among secular Israelis.

sh0wj0e “i know plenty of non smokers who use esigs”

Are they ever-smokers? Are you talking about experimentation or continious use?

My source is study titled “Use of electronic cigarettes in Great Britain”

and review titled “Electronic cigarettes: review of use, content, safety, effects …”

The Goq “even if i was a smoker i would wait awhile to see what the health affects turn out to be”

If you were a smoker (& not quitting), you should switch to something with a significantly lower toxicological profile asap. You’re taking a definite risk by waiting. There’s no chance that these things are worse than real cigs with 5,000 known chems, 40-80 known carcinogens and >200 known cardiovascular & pulmonary toxicants.

As someone who did much research on the topic (even though I’m not a smoker)

    1) They work by evaporating the solvents propylene glycol and/or glycerin. Being that these have a high boiling point, they quickly condense into an ultra-fine aerosol. These solvents also are widely used in the food industry as flavoring carriers. They are also widely used in medicinal inhalers (which work differently).

    2) They’re orders of magnitude less dangerous than is smoking, based on toxicological studies and some tests for acute cardiac and pulmonary clinical effects. There are no major known side effects for those switching. Though, some may experience dry-throat.

Two cases of lipoid pneumonia were reported – due to someone putting oil into the liquid.

The most important toxicological review on the topic is titled “Peering Through the Mist..”

    3) You can get EC w/o nicotine, however there’s a significant difference in cessation levels among EC with nic and w/o.

    4) There’s almost no level of continuous use among youth who never smoked. Experimenting among never-smokers is rare (~0.5%).

Try “Drop-Smoke,” in BMG it’s extremely popular and it’s Kosher too. I asked people and they all seem to like it. They have a website.

Also, I have friends who used e-cigs and claim they enjoy them, but then a year later they’re smoking again (some of them). It seems the best strategy with e-cigs, are to use different levels of nicotine juice, slowly weaning yourself off. But then keep it in case of a craving

I take “not do something cause your a good prson” as the other (human) party’s interests being an END in the decision. The question being when being Mekayem a B”O lachaveiro Mitzvah, should the other person or Hashem be the end of your decision.

After thought, this great question is fundamentally flawed: G-d is not only plain “the Creator,” but the Ultimate Good. Thus, you cannot separate the two sides of the question, and doing the mitzvah for Hashem’s sake, is doing it for morality’s sake and for the Mitzvah’s sake at once.

Despite what YFL said, archeology, for the most part, doesn’t “directly” anything.

Furthermore, for anyone with questions regarding archeology, R’ Gil Student did a great job in his articles at Aishdas dot org slash toratemet. Of note, Kenneth Kitchen — a leading scholar of the ancient Near-East, and probably today’s leading egyptologist — wrote a veritable telephone-book sized volume to counter biblical minimalists — who in his words “didn’t do their homework.”

Also see with comments, the recent guest series on Torah Musings by Dr Joshua Berman – a Lecturer in the Department of Bible at Bar-Ilan University. He claims that those studying treaty forms are highly convinced of a strong biblical parallel with the Hittite vassal treaties of the 13th century BCE and do not share consensuses that exist in other fields of bible study.

Also, you can refer to my previous comment if you don’t consider the remaining puzzle-work inevitable for a subject this kind.

Moshe Rabeinu your approach is not one of Moshe Rabeinu. He explicitly says (Devarim 13:2-4) explicitly says G-d would test us with suggestions arising from empirical evidence:

    See also Sifre ad loc.

It seems pretty explicit; according to R. Yose HaGlili G-d may actually test us by changing the laws of science! Whereas R. Akiva holds G-d would only do so having formerly reliable sources send us false information.

Bottom line, according to Moshe Rabeinu G-d will likely test us from science. All the more so according to a plethora of our own sources showing that before Moshiach will be a time of great ???? ????.

“All of science is based on the inductive application of the observed to the unobserved”

Our knowledge of the outside world is based statistical extrapolation of patterns in our minds sense impressions. The patterns may be random, but probability rules out (yes, I know U dont like the phrase “probability rules out” and that “Ur almost sure about that”) a pattern forming from pure randomness.

The statistical extrapolation of our sense impressions are representative of a reality what we refer to as the co-ordinates of space-time. The statistical extrapolations of the patterns of space-time coordinates is known as physical science. Barring extrapolation from observed to unobserved, would require that observation is a causative factor in the observed phenomenon – something which is complex in a specific way, and thus mathematically unlikely. Furthermore, even if observation is a causative factor, then “physical science” would still be the science of observed phenomena and you can still make inductions to the observed phenomenon.

It should be noted that Rav Moshe’s Teshuvah was about relying on a manager of the company, where the information was given meant for a Choleh not Kasharus, and there was liability (it may not be that not all these were criteria for the Heter).

I heard Rav Belsky criticize the method of calling up a company or writing to them asking if their product contains xyz, saying that any info a company would give would generally be in a way that won’t cause them any liability and that companies are careful about that, and many times the one responding to the inquiry doesn’t even have full access to the info necessary.

I think he was referring to Rabbi Blumenkrantz’s method, though i’m not 100% sure. I’d apreciate if anyone has more info.

I don’t think anyone (carrying real weight) says they had a perfect knowledge of science. That would mean there’s nothing you don’t know even the price of tea in China.

The answer would be that either they didn’t state what they didn’t know in science, even if their knowledge on their great level was in some way limited. Or it’s only what was ruled in ????? ???? that had special Siyata Dishmaya.

Regardless Reb Shlomo Zalman Aurbach (in ???? ??’ ????? ???? ?????) held the other view is valid.

??????????’ ???????, ??”? ??? ?? ?????? brings ??”? that the ????? of the ??’ is really the ??”?. So there’s no ???? from Rav Aaron as the Rambam in Hakdama to Yad says to disregard ?????? when they contradict ?????, and this contradicted what it says in Reb aharon’s Gemara.
