I don’t know how you can look at the last few years and not say change is needed.

    lovelyme,

“Lakewood ….. is a very large community and therefore there is a bigger percentage of children OTD”

The size of Lakewood should have nothing to do with the percentage only the total number

“usually those children are the ones that come from a difficult home or went through something difficult and never got help”

That’s a general assumption about OTD but I don’t think it’s fact, it may be true that those kids are more likely to be at risk but don’t assume they are the only onesor the cause of those at risk. In my opinion that is a dangerous assumption, that ignores the larger issue.

I will repeat what several others have said are there any stats to back up the numbers? are there even numbers?

    Toni,

As I said earlier, Shanghai was under Japanese rule at the time. Although Japan was part of the axis they weren’t an anti semetic country, which is why they allowed the Jews in.

    The place in Ja-what?”

Shangchai was in Japan (china was under Japanese rules at that time.) Still doesnt explain why they call it ShanChai, nobody says Chavana.

    Crisis,

Better secular departments exist and they aren’t uncommon either. You don’t have to sacrifice frumkeit (not chasidish) for it. As a parent you can demand they take it more seriously and set an example with your child by taking it seriously.

Catholic school tuition is similar to yeshivos. But You cant compare Catholic schools for several reasons but mainly because the Archdiocese set up is such that people donate there and they subsidize the schools. (it might be similar lhavdil to chasidish schools)

School taxes would go up a lot if the 5.5 million students (about 500K in NY) were added.

“Torah education is a sacrifice but the schools should be giving the parents more for their money.”

This again. What more should they give without raising costs?

No one said a pasul Eid is kosher for kedushin? How does a phone equal a psul?

Perhaps it’s true, perhaps it isn’t. I don’t like it.

We are still pretending that the Asifa was a success.

Is this pasul eid’s money good for donations? Maybe he sent an email on his Iphone and made money that way?

people die therefore why would it against hashkafah?

The alleged quote of the chazon notwithstanding.

In my opinion people dont have for one of two reasons. they cant afford it or they dont care about their loved ones after they die. I’ll allow the possible exception of they are wealthy and dont need it.

health the purpose was it doesnt have to be that way. a “broken home” can be a home with both parents and a divorced home can be “fixed”. either way dont use the children as pawns in a game. like the above example of visiting day and the father lived close enough so they davened in shul together.

doing a mitzvah is great. getting others to do a mitzvah through yours is greater. therefore money that goes for advertising, is better than money that goes just for the cause, even if the “cause” money makes us feel better.
