There was a heated discussion on this topic a long time ago in the CR…
Well, at the very least, you can agree that according to my standard, what happens in geulah is not ok
Granted, I’ve only been in Geulah a few times but when I was there I didn’t see anything inappropriate going on. Maybe enlighten me what goes on there that you think is wrong.
From what I hear from my parents, things that are considered scandalous today were fine in those days. Saying hi to a neighbor of opposite gender in your age range was expected. It seems that the aim today is to separate us as much as possible versus teaching proper guidelines. As long as halachos are properly kept, what’s wrong with it?

I was never in Gateshead so correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t it sound like the situation in Geulah on erev shabbos? I never saw anything inappropriate happen there.
This is another discussion entirely, but I see nothing wrong with them mingling. After all, shidduchim can come about as someone already mentioned.

I saw that laptop…it would be perfect but I’m very wary of getting AMD processor instead of Intel. You seem to know something about computers…you think AMD is as good?
I also saw a Gateway one from Best Buy that has an i3 processor. They don’t link it, nor do they show the price but maybe that’s also good.

I thought about some of those things but I still don’t know what to get. My laptop pretty much stays at home. I’d prefer a 15.6″ one but can go a little smaller or bigger. I use it mainly to surf the web and put on pictures although I do occasionally watch DVDs on it. Virus protection isn’t much of an issue since I think I have another use from the one I already have. I don’t need customer support. The only catch is that I’m going to be out of town so I would have to be able to get it online.
i’m looking for a good deal on a laptop that you can get online…any leads?
The Kindle (I don’t think it makes a difference if it’s new or not) is now capable of getting library books – meaning you can read them on your device for a specific period of time after which they will disappear.
Get her a real one and you won’t have that problem 🙂

Interesting that you brought that up. I recently was heading to get a mani/pedi and was in a rush so I mentioned that I might do it at the same time. My brother was in the car and mentioned that it might be a problem.

Like Mike said, you people find something terrible with it so stay away. We’re not following your beliefs; not because we didn’t read what you said but because we don’t find anything wrong with it. We will each choose our own paths to honor Leiby’s a”h memory. If you think deleting a facebook account is the way to do it and have therefore done so, kol hakavod. I, along with many others, believe that having facebook is totally fine and will therefore choose other things l’ilui nishmaso.
My parents (landlords) had a bad Jewish tenant once. Although they were tempted to evict him right away and immediately take him to court, they went to Beis Din who granted them the power to do whatever necessary…

Come on! So one should never look at other people’s pictures because heaven forbid they might think someone isn’t pretty? Or shouldn’t go to a friend’s house because they might hear that someone was invited to a wedding and they weren’t. I’m trying to understand how one goes more out of their way on the internet for bad than on Facebook. I really just don’t get it.

I had a situation like that once. The guy kept calling to push up dates and I felt I didn’t have enough time to think things through. I know people who were pushed into marriage and although they b”h seem happy, I don’t think I can ever go about it in that way.
