gefen -“Health: Do you know why the dental blocks are not recommended anymore?”

Ladies & Gents of the Jury – I present to you Exhibit A:

    “Hello Kitty –

3- When you go to a dentist make sure that he is experienced and knows what hes doing. I went to a few dentists already and most of them just make you a guard and are NOT TMJ specialists. These night guards made my TMJ worse.”

Btw, if you go to a Doc, like in the ER and you get injected -you probably won’t need to deal with this again. OTOH, if you brux (grind teeth) or have other anxiety or orthodonic problems, this might be chronic. You’ll have to treat the cause of the problem. Bruxism is usually caused by anxiety. Anxiety is treated with therapy and/or drugs. But I’d wager that this is your first time and getting injected will make it all disappear. After the injection, you can read any book you want to and it might help prevent a re-occurance.

gefen – Got news for you e/o has TMJ, just mine doesn’t hurt.

TMJ disorder or pain is treated with injection at the site with lidocaine (or a different caine) along with a steroid. Any practitioner can do this, not just a Dentist. Follow up is Not necessary in a lot of cases. If Bruxism is the cause, using Dental blocks, as mentioned above by some, is really outdated nowadays & isn’t recommended anymore.

Sam2 -“Health: What pronunciation did they change? Are you referring to S’fardi Havara?”

Don’t you think it’s strange for s/o who isn’t Sefardi to make up a language based on their Havara? The reason why he did it because he didn’t want the New language (Ivrit) to have anything to do with the old (LK). The same reason he made up words that wasn’t needed -like Shairootim for Bais Hakeesay. This might not be a good example because Shairootim might be slang, not original Ivrit. So here is another example -Dayog -Fisherman. The way to say this in LK is probably Odom Sheoichaiz Dagim (Bemetzoida).

He created new words for his new language. Yes, it’s based on LK, but it’s a new language and it has No Kedusha. It’s probably better to speak English than Ivrit. At least English wasn’t created by a Koifer!

mdd -“Health, so if someone decides to start writing English using Hebrew script, but otherwise leave everything the same, it is going to be a new language? Ridiculous!”

First of all, Yiddish is Not just German with the Aleph -Bais. There are many differences.

Second of all, you said dialect. It can only be a dialect if it fits into one of the four definitions. Since it doesn’t have the same Alpha -Bet, it is a different language. This language might have come as an offshoot of German, but it isn’t German -it’s the only Jewish language right now. How come you think you are smarter than Gedolim for the last umteen years? They chose to speak in Yiddish over the languages of the countries where they resided in, this includes Ivrit, when they lived in EY. You don’t think they could learn a new language, esp. Ivrit which comes from Loshon Kodesh? The reason is because it’s (Yiddish) the Jewish language.

So stop with Yiddish is nothing more than German already.

So you’re saying a person can’t do Teshuva on Shmiras Eneyim? Do you have a Mekor for this? If not, you and unfortunately your offspring also, are Krum. I’m very happy I’m on the Net -who would want to be Meshadaich with people like you? What you think is a Chumra (that you can’t undo Shmiras Eneyim) is really a Krumra (I just made up a new word).

One thing has nothing to do with the other. Since you’re taking other vasoconstricters like caffeine, it could do the job. I didn’t say it works like the triptans or the ergots. I just said I use it and it helps me. Some people have to try different triptans to find one that works for them. So the Sudafed could work for some, esp. the 12 or 24 hr ones.

And also, esp. with the preventive drugs the pt has to do a lot of trial & error.

Did you go to that Mother’s nature site? I think they mention feverfew as an aborting drug.

mdd -“Right, Health, a dialect of German is a Jewish language, but a dialect of Loshon Kodesh is not? How ridiculuos is that!?!”

    Your perception is wrong.

    From the dictionary:

“Dialect – 1. regional variety of language: a regional variety of a language, with differences in vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation

    2. language spoken by class or profession: a form of a language spoken by members of a particular social class or profession

    3. nonstandard speech: nonstandard spoken language

    4. member of language family: one of a family of related languages – Romance dialects such as French and Italian”

Yiddish would not be considered a dialect because it has a different Alfa -Bet. So it’s a new language – a Jewish one.

Even though Ivrit would fall into #4 -it still is a new language, just like French and Italian are two different languages. So it might be in the same family as Loshon Kodesh, but it is its’ own language. The biggest proof that they made a new language, is because they changed a lot of pronuciation. Why? Because they didn’t want to speak the language that Jews always spoke.

    yekke2 -“Why is it Jewish?”

Even though the origins are many languages -it is only spoken by Jews.

Ivrit is Not Loshon Hakodesh. They don’t even pronounce the words the same. Many Non-Jews speak Ivrit. Being similar to Loshon Hakodesh doesn’t make it a Jewish language.

So some people feel they have to apologize when they aren’t speaking the Jewish language to Jews.

The reason some speakers spoke English by the Asifa is that they realize not e/o understands Yiddish -so they didn’t want those participants to feel left out.

What bothered me about your post is that it seemed that you meant that you can totally rely on Med Prof. In our day and age, with new advances coming out daily, unless that’s his/hers actual field, the likelihood on them knowing the latest in that field is not too great. For the pt’s best interest they should research it themselves. Not everything about the Net is bad. The instant access to info has saved many lives.

And I can’t count how many times just from reading the regular News, not medical sites, I’ve found out about the latest in medicine -the same time as e/o else.

Of course, one must be very careful what medical sites you visit -there is a lot of phony stuff out there. Emedicine/webmd is very reliable.

SaysMe -“you do raise an interesting point. And though i wont opine, i do want to say that self-diagnosing and looking up medical info on the net is usually not the nest idea. If someone wants to find out abt homebirth, etc, they should speak to their doctor who can give them the relevant and researched pros, cons and info.”

As a member of the medical profession, you are a little right and mostly wrong. Self -diagnosing is never a good idea. OTOH, researching medical info in general or about specific diseases or about something you were diagnosed with is a good idea. As far as needing it at home -so you don’t need a filter -you can go to a library. This really isn’t a reason not to filter. And btw, what Doc would you ask about homebirth? Your PCP? I’m sure they don’t know too much about it. Your Ob? Almost all of them would tell you No homebirth. I happen to agree, but that’s irrelevant. So if you want the other side, you’d have to talk to women who delivered at home, midwives who practice in birthing centers and/or home settings. And one of the better ways to make a decision is to research this Online.

“who can give them the relevant and researched pros, cons and info.”

Yes, that’s because you have a Torah understanding, but it is logically possible to have subjective morals or morals that change. You might not like that idea, but it is Not illogical.

And btw, the Torah doesn’t hold morals are absolute either. Some Goyim do – acc. to their religion. Eg. We hold killing is Ossur. If we held “absolute” morals it would never be Mutter. shmoel – Ok; and they will throw out kids from school whose parents have the Net because they said All Net is Assur. The only Heter for a filter is for Parnassa.

Poskim across the United States, Eretz Yisroel and the world have issued a binding psak din upon Klal Yisroel that smoking, driving without seatbelts, driving while talking on the cell, being an alcoholic, not wearing a helmet during sports activities, not wearing a reflector at nite, reckless driving & excessive speeding

So you’re trying to guess my identity? I think that’s against the rules of the CR. Did it ever occur to you that maybe I know the guy and I used him as an example to make a point? Maybe you shouldn’t post people’s cases without their permission -that’s why I didn’t mention the case specifically. So what is your point regarding that case?

“Here’s a hypo: the kid was bought off (or the like), and the Shomrim were (correctly) trying to cover it up. My money’s there personally. Obviously yours isn’t. It’s not hilchos eidus, its whether self-defense was proved by sufficient evidence, so as to justify the undisputed act of violence that all sides and all witnesses concur on. The prosecution represents the state not the kid.”

Your theory holds no water because the Grandparents control the kid and are suing the parties involved. They are the ones s/o would pay off, not the kid. They could easily have told the kid not to testify and he would listen. But what happenned was he tried to lie because his Grandparents told him to, but on the stand he just couldn’t pull it off. So anything pointing to that this Shomrim guy was the guy doing the assault comes from the Shomrim’s guy’s testimony. So why did the Judge only believe half his testimony, esp. in light of the fact that the “victim” didn’t testify and his conscience asked for a dismissal?

Ms. Critique -“Sitting in is not a Chassidish minhag, it is a frum minhag. There are some very real Litvish yeshiva boys that are sitting in these days and making a decision after 4 times.”

Your critique or criticism of me is Not warranted and is full of misconceptions.

First of all, I never said No Litvish ever sit-in. My post was based on the fact that Most Chassidishe do sit-in as opposed to Most Litvaks or Non-Chassidim, who don’t.

Second of all, it is Not a Minhag, as far as I know, but just a Farfrumta thing. This doesn’t mean I’m opposed to it, but just it isn’t on the level of a Minhag.

“So far there have been no divorces among this group but from those of you who are busy looking at the gashmius, there are divorces, broken engagements and committments to such as shmutzbook(facebook). Rabbi Ephraim Waxman wrote an article about dating in a Jewish Observer a few years ago. Try to get an issue and then you’ll see the truth. Going in public places as the weather gets warmer is like walking in a zoo of humans. Yes, i am speaking from experience of having married off all our children B”H without these narishkeiten, but focusing on what is important in marriage and how the children will grow together.”

This paragraph is totally inaccurate. Just because you and some people you know who only did sit-ins – didn’t have any divorces -doesn’t mean anything.

“Statistics of divorces among frum Yidden who are Chassidish, although unfortunately more heard of than years ago is still far less than among other types!”

Now this above statement is totally meant to manipulate. In general, the Charedim or Ultra-orthodox have less divorce than the MO or Modern Jews. But unfortunately, the latest statistics are -that Chassidish couples have more divorces than the Litvish or Non-Chassidish. I’m not saying that this is due to going out as opposed to sitting-in, but your premise is wrong -so you have No reason to push sit-ins over going out!

uneeq -“Health: I’m not sure which book you mentioned before nor why you didn’t mention it again. But either way, IIRC, in R’ Kelemans book he proves that all philosophical approaches for banning murder are flawed.”

    From page 1:

“The Elements of Moral Philosophy by Rachels is one of my sources.”

They are flawed from a Torah Perspective, not from a logical one.

I, obviously, being a Frum Jew hold like the Torah; this doesn’t mean that there can’t be other logical philosophies regarding Morals. This is why Yiddishkeit is based on Emmuna. If it was crystal clear logically that everything in the Torah is right -there would be No Bechira. This is Judaism 101. I’m not sure where you are getting confused. If you actually quote his book here -I’ll try and help, if I can.

Logician -“Yes, i read your posts. Like Sam2, I don’t really get it.”

Oh, he got it alright. He just probably won’t admit it.

Bikitzur, what I was saying is – if a woman decides to Chap as many Mitzvos as possible, including Mitzvos Asey Shehazman Groma, wearing Tzitzis won’t be on the top of the list.

So why do these women put on Tzitzis then? Because they are FEMINISTS!

    Fine be what way?

“Stupid people keep EMT-B’s and P’s in business and sick people keep RN’s docs and you in business.”

Wrong again. EMS sees the same type of pts. as e/o else. Where do you think EMS brings them? The ER. The ER is staffed by Docs, nurses, etc.

    “(what ever you are)”

I dunno. What am I? You tell me.

Oooh, Oooh, I know -I’m Nisht a Heene & Nisht Ahare!

Here we go again. More evidence of a miscarriage of justice -medical documentation of a broken nose has just come out.

But what are they talking about now? Letting him go? Of course not! They want to file federal hate crime charges against George. They aren’t happy the tainted Jury will only give him life – they want him to get the death penalty.

You just gotta love the Good ‘Ole US of A. They don’t believe in the rule of law, just in the rule of PC! And the Pres. is screaming how the Toieva guys deserve the same rights as e/o else. I agree; give them all what they are giving to George -the same rights -the death penalty!

Bump again. What – all of a sudden the armchair Poskim have nothing to say?

    Here’s a joke similar to a Knock-knock joke:

    Hello.

    Hello.

    “Who’s there?”

    Hello 99

    “Hello 99 who?”

Hello 99 is everywhere but here!
