In Tzavaas Harivash (Baal Shem Tov) it says “Tzarich Liracheim al Hashchina” and more.

And nobody said anything about praying that way, just doing things in order to take the Shchina out of golus.

So how do you understand “Bichol Tzorosom Lo Tzor” Yeshayahu and “Schinta Bigalusa” Zohar? Did you read there in Rambam 1,9 and 1,12? It says that though its not taken literally, it means something just we can’t comprehend its true meaning.

RSRH, I appreciate your point about not having things done for us but why do we say 3 times every single day Ki Lishuascha Kivinu Kal Hayom if we don’t hope he’ll come right away, and what about the Maamar Razal in Sanhedrin “Zachu Achishena…”? What is this “other” approach?

I may be mistaken, and I don’t know your affiliation with this fellow, and I don’t know if it’s relevant to the matter at hand (but it might be), but saying something like “messed up” about this person seems to indicate a lack of sensitivity.

You sound like one thirsty fellow. That’s probably why it’s hard for you to relate to it. But the fact is, when you are not thirsty you don’t enjoy water, as opposed to anything else you would eat or drink, which has a taste even when you’re not hungry or thirsty.

Before you ask anybody else, ask the person who told that to you to explain the correlation between remembering and having a grudge, or at least what’s the source, and if his explanation is not satisfactory don’t let it get to you.

It was bound to happen anyways considering Israel’s stance on security, its just an advanced realization of that potential. There is relatively no danger if Israel just changes its stance to a no tolerance policy. But its getting late before we’ll have to rely on miracles again.

I get that there are alot of harmonious marriages between one and the other, but might you agree that BTs and FFBs are often (not always) very different from each other and relate better with someone from a common background (probably more by FFBs who are less adaptable)? Maybe this is partly what it is and is often misinterpreted as a rejection when the Baal Tshuva is also at fault for having an inferiority complex and thinks that the Tachlis is ‘acceptance’ by FFBs, which is demonstrated absolutely by marrying into Frum families (and also hypocritically shun BTs while doing so) and that a rejection is a rejection of them when it’s really (also) a rejection of their silliness? It may be a whole vicious cycle and I’m sure FFBs are at fault for exploiting that weakness with a lack of sensitivity and acceptance and just by being inconsiderate (and who knows maybe there’s just some truth in the discrimination, but not because of lack of merits or character…)… whatever. Rant. Love you BTs.

Oomis, surely you are aware that the quality of a Jew doesn’t only lie in his potential. Consider for example the statement of our sages “maaminim ubnei maaminim” or “af al pi shechata yisroel hu” (though these things also have to do with potential). There is a bigger picture you are ignoring or missing. And that doesn’t mean action is inconsequential and that goyim have no significance. Shmoel wasn’t talking about that. There may be cases where someone gets his soul cut off entirely as people have suggested and sourced here, i’m not sure, but on the most part even a Jew rasha goes to gehinnom and then goes to gan eden, as opposed to a goy. The eternity of the Jewish reflects this deeper reality than you seem to be expressing. We all share the same soul root, thats why perfect tzaddikim like the Arizal said viduy, its the essence of ahavas yisroel and the reason for kol yisroel areivim ze laze and that explains why choosing Jews isnt unfair because they were not chosen in a lottery but rather they originally come from a higher realm than the physical. That is why so many things. This concept has so many ramifications and is so integral to Judaism. Its quite ridiculous to say that Shmoel was intending to argue with your point about a wicked Jew’s actions being filth compared to a goy’s. I also struggle to understand some of these value scales and notions but since its what our sages tell us i try to understand it, and its not as intuitivelly challenging as you make it sound. Again, you challenge Shmoel as if its an argument but you’re really discussing two different points.

pcoz- Elokus is indestructible. And a Jew is always connected (though how much varies). See Tanya, Iggeres Hatshuva, and specifically the end of Perek 5. Here’s a link:

oomis- you’re right that it requires scrutiny, but i think you’ll agree that shmoel intended something that runs much deeper than utility and appreciation.

“An apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” It’s definitely at best a generality, but it might have some validity. Unfortunately for some, its easier to jump to conclusions than to make an informed inquiry to test it. Either way its not a good basis for being judgmental.

Maybe this letter from the Lubavitcher Rebbe addresses your issue, where he speaks out strongly on a number of grounds against those who say that there’s a problem with Jewish institutions receiving financial support if it simultaneously helps other faiths:

Frame your question any way you want, a Jew is a Cheilek Eloka Mimaal, a goy isn’t. I’m not minimizing any atrocities.

Pomegranates from different places have different numbers of seeds. But some goy did a count over a large variety and large amount of pomegranates and the average was 613! If you see there if you count the 1000 seed pomegranates you can throw the average off balance but its still very interesting that when he stopped counting that was the number. Said he would but hasn’t updated since that count. Don’t know if that’s what was meant by the elusive makor. Search “613 seeds” fifth entry.

This is not much of a “sign” but it is somewhat conncected to the topic, so I’ll mention it: If someone says this Sela I’m giving to Tzdakah so that my son lives or so that I get Olam Haba, he’s a Tzaddik Gammur (Pesachim 8a). Tosfos explains that as long as he won’t regret it if it doesn’t come to pass, this statement applies.

So sometimes you can “test” Hashem, but at the same time it might not come to pass.

The original question seems to be talking about something else though.

I’ve heard a few stories where a people with no Jewish education were at their wits end about something and asked Hashem to prove himself or else… and Hashem sent a yeshua. Don’t know if its supposed to be done though.

That’s not how a normal Yid approaches a subject. You don’t just call out thousands of Yidden because of some supposed svoro that you came up with, you ask a question and hopefully some of those very learned “oy” pronouncers who undoubtedly know more than you will answer. disgusting.

It seems from Chovas Halvavos Shar Habitachon, Ikrim and Yalkut Shimoni 473 that Bitachon is number 1, but only if it is strong enough. The help from Hashem is actually a reward for his strengthening his bitachon (not if that is why he strengthens his bitachon). This of course is in addition to number 2 which applies to someone who hasnt reached this level of bitachon, in which case he may know that he is not neccessarily deserving of hashems help (but hashem might do so anyways). In addition, his punishment was not only a “preventative measure” but also a cleansing for his soul emenating from Hashem’s kindness so that he can reattain and attain higher spiritual heights while alive and in Gan Eden. Also punishments in this world are lighter than in Gehinnom again from Hashem’s compassion. But again notwithstanding this if he strengthens his bitachon in hashem that hashem “will” save him (and for example is completely at peace, and doesn’t worry at all) then #1 applies to him still.

Shu”t Tzafnas Paneach Chelek 1 S 14: “The remedies mentioned in the Gemara (though nowadays not applicable) are a part of the Torah Shebal peh.”

As opposed to his medical books (you could read them in the bathroom), the specific instructions in Hilchos Deios Ch. 4 come from the Gemara (migdal oz, malbim, hagahos bnei binyomin, tzaf”p).

(But thats besides the point because even if not it still is bigeder Torah that you can’t read in the bathroom. See Lechem Mishna Hilchos Talmud Torah 4:1 and the end of the Rambam’s hakdomo.)

While I don’t neccesarily agree with those who discourage stories like these, let’s put things into perspective for everyone’s benefit. The Rogatchover attributed his genius to the Tzemach Tzedek, who gave him a brocho when he was a very young child that he will be a Talmid Chochom. This is the magnitude of his genius. The implications of a Tzadik’s power is awe-inspiring.
