Philosopher, there is a problem if the chasidishe sometimes must mix because they are not used to it. The divorce is less because the women have less desires for luxuries and they are satisfied with what the husband provides.
December 8, 2019 10:23 am at 10:23 am in reply to: Inviting divorced women to your Shabbos table? #1808711Reb EliezerParticipantPhilosopher, look at the Aruch Hashulchan about covering hair at davening, something that is done frequently wil not affect us anymore. People of opposite gender mix more and talk to each other more than used to, so they become immune to each other.
December 8, 2019 10:04 am at 10:04 am in reply to: I realized my mistake, did you realize yours? #1808698Reb EliezerParticipantI heard in the name of one of the Rebbes maybe the Besht that Hashem enjoys our tefilos like a bird chirping.
December 8, 2019 10:04 am at 10:04 am in reply to: I realized my mistake, did you realize yours? #1808691Reb EliezerParticipantknaidlach – thanks, that is what I meant.
December 8, 2019 9:23 am at 9:23 am in reply to: I realized my mistake, did you realize yours? #1808655Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph, you are wrong. One this it says ודגלו עלי אהבה – על תקרא ודגלו אלא ודלוגו meaning that leaving out my mistake is accepted with love.
December 8, 2019 8:48 am at 8:48 am in reply to: I realized my mistake, did you realize yours? #1808648Reb EliezerParticipantThe one that comes to mind discussed previously in CR is yidmu kooven meaning similar, which should be yid’mu meaning silent.
Reb EliezerParticipantMentioned above the Rokeach who says mustard is allowed for Pesach provided not ground in a dish of chometz.
Reb EliezerParticipantIs mustard a legume?
Reb EliezerParticipantknaidlach, do you mean putting together a jigsaw puzzle?
Reb EliezerParticipantCertain halachas are by their definition based on the place and times e.g. bechukosehem, but most are ever lasting.. Tosfas in Betzeh 6,1 questiions if times change, do the chazal’s gezerah disappear automatically because the reason for it is gone.
Reb EliezerParticipantMaybe that is why there is no ayin horah in josef like fish as Rochel did not see her beauty.
Reb EliezerParticipantSince women didn’t work outside of the house, she should be able to say, either I can buy whatever I want besides supporting you, or you supporr me and I will not work outside of the house.
Reb EliezerParticipantI don’t know if this halacha applies currently as the wife sometimes earns more than the husband. They are willing to work in order to have a say in how to spend the money.
December 6, 2019 2:55 pm at 2:55 pm in reply to: Inviting divorced women to your Shabbos table? #1808444Reb EliezerParticipantGH, bravo, nicely expressed. If you feel they are not behaving properly, tell them abour it with tact (the way you would want to be told) and they will welcome it.
Reb EliezerParticipantIt says that the number of .letters of a Sefer Torah is against the Bnei Yisroel. יש ששים רבוא אותיות לתורה – ישראל. All letters must be separated by white empty space מוקף גויל as every Jew is unique.
Reb EliezerParticipantIt says when one davens Shmonei Esrei he should keep his eyes below and his heart above. The RMA O’CH 98 says that we should keep the greatness of Hashem infront of us (in our hearts) and see our lowliness (looking down).
Reb EliezerParticipantTakes2, Is working six days one of the 613 mitzvos? It means not shabbos but six days.
December 6, 2019 1:38 pm at 1:38 pm in reply to: Inviting divorced women to your Shabbos table? #1808429Reb EliezerParticipantWe can invite them like a BT and explain to them nicely the significance of shabbos.
Reb EliezerParticipantAvi K, Look at Rashi that if we take anything from amolek, we have not desttoyed its memory. Rashi is clear, so I don’t know what the Minchas Chinuch’s 604 , problem is. It only applies after the coming of Meshiach because we currently don’t know who amolek is.
Reb EliezerParticipantIt should be ואהבת – שתהי שם שמים מתאהב על ידך the school should create students through whom Hashem will be beloved. If this does not occur, the school is messed up. The students should be examplary such that those seeing them will say, I also wanr to sent my child to this school.
Reb EliezerParticipantFrom those that were not from Haman they still did not take anything, to show that they fought for the survival of Yiddishkeit and not for the booty.
Reb EliezerParticipantAvi K, Haman is amolek where taking booty is forbidden as by Shaul.
Reb EliezerParticipantLook at the Rav Sapurna Breishis (16,15) who says that the name Yishmoel was applicable because of both. Avraham davened for him whereas Hagar heard it from the Angel. It seems that Avraham called the name on his own because Hashem listened to his tefila Breishis (17,20).
As a side question, Rivkah was told, the older will serve the younger. Did Yaakov Avinu know this? The Maaseh Hashem explains the connection between Aisov asking to be served the lentil food and Yaakov Avinu wanting him to sell his birthrite. Yaakov Avinu said, if you, Aisov want me to serve you, I must be the older.
December 5, 2019 9:43 pm at 9:43 pm in reply to: Inviting divorced women to your Shabbos table? #1808346Reb EliezerParticipantThank you Syag for your reassurance.
December 5, 2019 9:20 pm at 9:20 pm in reply to: Inviting divorced women to your Shabbos table? #1808340Reb EliezerParticipantIs a widow or widower ok? I am a widower, who lost his wife nine years ago, appreciate being invited to a shabbos table.
Reb EliezerParticipantPeople get a president they deserve. If they elect Trump again, they deserve him.
Reb EliezerParticipantI thnk monopoly is assur not because of money which is play money but it looks like doing business on shabbos.
Reb EliezerParticipantSyag can you be more specific?
Reb EliezerParticipantTwo wrongs don’t make a right. If the previous presidents were not impeached, does not make it right. When someone eats garlic and his mouth smells, does not mean that he should eat more garlic.
December 5, 2019 6:01 pm at 6:01 pm in reply to: Important shidduch questions during hannukah! #1808264Reb EliezerParticipantdevny, I would think that we stop learning and lighrt Chanukah candles as we stop learning to lein the megiila. The women is lighting to satisfy her own obligation. If he happens to be an away from his house,, is a different situation. He has an obligation to light on his own.
Reb EliezerParticipantEven though it iis depressing, I understand their behavior. Tefila under the chuppa is verty helpful for shidduch and refuah.
December 5, 2019 5:53 pm at 5:53 pm in reply to: Inviting divorced women to your Shabbos table? #1808235Reb EliezerParticipantWhat is the problem is it because she is divorced or withour a husband?
Reb EliezerParticipantThis is similar to saying , you are welcome in our shul but it is locked and you can’t enter because I am not giving you the key or combination. Prof. Turley says not enough proof, but Trump claims presidential immunity, so he doesn’t have to cooperate with documents or allowing peoole to testify in impeachment investigatiion prescribed by the constitution. Therefore, his obtructiion is violating the constitution and he needs to be impeached.
Reb EliezerParticipantOnly according to Hillel can a bosor v’dom be Meshiach because his coming and Techyiyas Hamesim will be at one time, but he is dismissed from halacha.
Reb EliezerParticipantEven among ashkanazim the kittel is hidden under the coat. Chupah not performed in a shul, firsr. the chuppa be under the stars wherre the Tiferes Yisroel says that the acronym in the RAMA was misrepresented by the reformed and two, ir is chukas hoakim.
Reb EliezerParticipantHaifagirl,
To clarify: The argument above is if Techiyas Hamasim will be together with Meshiach or 40 years after his coming.
Reb EliezerParticipantWe pray: ויעשה כולם אגודה אחת לעשות רצונך בלבב שלם so we should all unite to be able to do the will of Hashem with a complete dedicated heart.
Haifagirl.
It is an argument in Perek Chelek between Hillel and others if Meshiach will come right away (Hillel holds as the time in between was used up already) or others (forty years in between).
There is also an argument if the Temple will be built first (Yerushalmi) before his coming.
Reb EliezerParticipantubi, can you please explain the MB coming from the Baer Hetev:
משנה ברורה סימן קיז ס”ק ד
ולעולם ב’ ימים בין התקופה להשאלה דאם התקופה ביום א’ השאלה בתפילת ערבית השייכה ליום דReb EliezerParticipantMilhouse, What about September, the autumnal equinox, that we are concerned with?
Reb EliezerParticipantubi, you are contradicting yourself in two posts for Dec 5 . Meno is correct i.e.. Thursday night and maariv the previous day???
Reb EliezerParticipantYou are quoting an Rav Avudraham from the Beis Yosef O’CH 117 whixh I questioned before, why he uses the expression for the leap year ‘היה’ was, he should have used ‘יהי will come? He says February ‘was’ 28 days or 29 days rather than ‘will be’ the next year?
Reb EliezerParticipantWhy can’t we say everytime Dec 4 except before a leap year Dec 5 and now I don’t care if 2100 is a leap year.
Reb EliezerParticipantShould be the moon where the night starts the day but the sun where the night follows the day.
Reb EliezerParticipantUbi, I think when you say preceding you are making a mistake when It is Dec 4, we say tal umotor on its night not before, similarly, Dec 5 is not before but on its night. Thursday night and not Wednesday night not after the moon where the day starts the day before but after the sun where the night follows the day.
Reb EliezerParticipantShould be to check the automnal equinox for the year.
Reb EliezerParticipantSimply check the automnomal equinox for the year. If it is September 22, Tal Umotor is December 4 and if September 23 then Tal Umotor will be December 5. ubi, I have a problem with the Rav Avudraham above who says passed leap year. Shouldn’t it be the coming leap year?
Reb EliezerParticipantubi, I accept the goyim’s calculations for the beginning of Automn adjusting for the calendar and not including the first day which makes my calculations simpler. See the Rambam at the end of the 17th perek of Hilchas Kiddush Hachodesh (17,24).
Reb EliezerParticipantThe gemora in Perek Chelek where the talmidim think it is their rebbi:
It also looks like there are two views of Rashi if he can be from the dead:
Reb EliezerParticipantgoogle 2019 automn equinox
Reb EliezerParticipantI just noticed, the Baer Hetev 464,2 brings from the Taz that the Rokeach, an ashkanaz, allows eating mustard on Pesach provided it was not ground in a chometzdig dish.
