As an addition, many jobs transfer well here. If you are a Programmer in the USA you will see that there are lots of Programming jobs here. Setting up a business has never been easier with MATI here to help. Why, I know a man that is designing a clothing line! Be creative and reach for your dreams!

IMHO – Much of these post are disturbing. We are not buying cars with 3 year leases. Too much time is wasted on image and what other will think! Are you marrying somebody because your parents/friends/shadchin thinks it is a good idea?

Further, IMHO, I do not see how this type of dowry/support system can continue? There are people making good money and are totally broke/in debt because of it. (I have seen the post here.) And they continue, because they cannot look poor or unable to fulfill financial obligations – it would be too embarrassing.

Even worse, IMHO, it appears that this type of environment creates EXTREME self-centered-ness, which is another term for Giyva. And we know the Creator HATES this midda. “What am I worth($)?” “Is the girl/boy worthy of my level of holiness (religiosity)?” “I should be able to get somebody better” Good grief – it gives me heart palpitations to think people think like this….

I noticed in the opening thread a constant theme of “best boy”, “best learner”, “next Rosh…” and the same for girls. Was there always this competitiveness aspect to finding a soulmate? I think not. Yes, I understand the value of have a spouse with Yerat Shamiyim. But the way that it sounds getting married today is a cross between a race and buying a trophy, or some pure-bred Irish Setter (lahavdeal). It sounds kinda reckless.

Together they should raise emotionally health children, even at the expense of a clean home. Emotionally healthy children will be able to carry on Torah. Make children the top priority. If he has to miss a seder because of children – so be it. The children will appreciate knowing that they are more important than their chavusa. The man will still get the mitzvah of learn by his desire. G-d knows the hearts of man and rewards with justice.

Perhaps he thinks they are nice. Perhaps he wants to be his own person. There are plenty of people who do not wear jeans, look completely frum, but are very dangerous or engage in bad behavior. IMHO the “derech” stresses too much on conformity (esp clothes) and doesn’t take personal flavor into consideration. (I myself do not wear jeans and prefer to dress nicely, and I do not consider jeans “nice” dress.) It sound like all is okay. Even if he wears them more than you want.

Shazam is right in posting what he did. Do not think for a moment that big business is partially responsible for this issue.

If they treated car accidents like the flu – we would have been walking for 80 years! In fact medical/hospital accidents claim 100,000 deaths a year – shall we ban the doctors too?

Let me ask you about this piece of logic – health officials always say, “If you don’t get vaccinated – your putting others at risk” Well, if they are vaccinated what risk is there?

Go back and look at the Swine Flu of 1976 – I think 1 person died from it and something like 50 died and hundreds developed neurological disorders from the vaccine.

Sound like it is safer to go without.

Just months ago there was a “mix-up” in the lab where toxic virus’ were mixed with vaccination and sent to Europe. What kind of “mix-up” is that?

I am very suspicious – and I think there is a good reason to me.

I used to smoke a pack a day for 6 year – and loved it. My wife told me to quit. I quit once for a couple days and then quit again permanently. It has been 20 years since I quit, and I would love to smoke again. If you truly want to do something – you can!

Think about this……Rabbi Avigdor Miller writes in his commentary on the siddur, that G-d is “listening intensively” to what you are saying. Nuff said.

Guys, may I remind you that G-d commanded us to eat matzah because He loves us! Pesah is a gift, from the Creator, designed to rejuvenate our spiritual batteries in only a way that Pesah can. (Check out Derech HaShem on the Holidays)

Perhaps you need to get some tasty handmade matzah with some cream cheese or peanut butter and you will then never complain again!

Live and love the moment for what it is.

Slightly off topic, but still relevant – Legal Pads are yellow because yellow is supposed to stimulate the intelligence. Perhaps if the “background color” of YWN was yellow (and not white) the responses may be better.

The book “Off The Derech” by Faranak Margolese addresses the causes of “at risk” children. I am reading it right now and it is an eye-opener. A must read! Children NEED unconditional love from parents and the schools.
