Ted Cruz is definitely an outstanding friend of Israel in policy, as are potential candidates Mike Huckabee, Marco Rubio, Rick Santorum, & George Pataki.

@cool dude is talking about Paul Ryan

    @akuperma
    is talking about Rand Paul

Two very different people & policies.

As far as Paul Ryan, he did say that if Romney runs in 2016, he will not, and instead support Romney.

Shortly after Romney said he would like to run a 3rd time, Paul Ryan confirmed that he made a decision, independent of Romney’ interest, that he will not run. But then Romney pulled out.

Ryan is still sticking to not running, but who knows?

there is a really good learn by video dvd u can get on all of those programs they sell at barnes and noble for $50 each and on ebay for less.

the pros are that it teaches by video very thorough, and also includes file folders so you can practice and remember, and it is a very economical way of learning. also chances are you already have a creative eye and don’t need to pay thousands of dollars for a course for someone to critique and guide you.

the cons are that the learn-by-video series just teaches you how to use those programs, so you will have to read some books on how to create a portfolio. the biggest problem with the self-learning videos is your commitment to sit by yourself and learn and practice, which can be very hard to do, if not impossible for some people. (if you chose to do it, the key is practice, or you’ll forget. Also some courses can get you a starting job, as opposed to learn-by-video.

Keep in mind that most companies are not interested in where you learned adobe. They just want to see a smashing portfolio and a prestigious record, both of which you don’t need an unaccredited course for. Either way, once you master design, you need to climb up the ladder yourself.

If you are looking into programs like dreamweaver or any other web design programs to work with Photoshop, i would suggest getting into some program for that because you have to learn basic html and css.

another option is accredited courses in marketing that you may want to look into.

since you are a man you should beware, beware that the learn-by video, as well as any other setting or job that is not religious may not be so tznius, since after all, it includes art and culture.

If you chose to do learn-by-video, I would suggest photoshop first. (you may not even need illustrator altogether because most of it is already included in photoshop.)

I would also suggest, whatever you do, to get books on the most successful ad campaigns. you can get them at the library; They are mainly picture books with notes. They are super interesting, and there is a ton to learn from.

    good luck

Most patent firms charge about $3,000 just to do a patent search to make sure your idea is both patentable and not already filed. It costs AT LEAST an additional $20,000 to file a patent, and until your idea is at least patent pending, companies are not interested, and even when you obtain a patent, it’s not so easy to get a company’s attention. Everyone with some level of ingenuity at one time in their life figures they have a million dollar idea. Best thing is to get a normal sustainable job, and don’t waste your money until you can afford to. good luck.

    @jewishfeminist02

no one really knows for sure that they’re staying forever, and that’s part of making aliyah. if you are intent on returning and playing around with the government, I hear you. But if you may stay it’s not your requirement to commit forever before you make aliya.

Most people who sign up stay, some come back. I know people who made aliya hoping to work things out, but moved back due to financial worries. It’s not playing the system at all.

If you ever experienced trying to get something done in an Israeli government office, you wouldn’t have this back-bending sympathy. They have a round robin of recriminations that would make the 3 stooges proud.

    @rastacourage

Someone once asked Rav Avigdor Miller why doesn’t everyone make Aliya to have the mitzvah of yishuv E”Y, and since it’s the optimal place for a Jew to live for all mitzvos. He answered that although in theory it is correct, every other aspect of jewish life must be taken into effect, ex. maintaining a high level of torah life in the diaspora.

If you know what you want to do and you want do it and make aliya, then go for it. Living there is optimum. (unless you’re a satmar chassid)

If you have compromising circumstances, and a mitigated zeal to make aliya, there is no reason to move for the sake of it, since Judaism isn’t about one singular mitzvah, but living a torah life as a whole.

    ?????? ???? ??? ???? ??? ?? – ??? ????? ?? ???? ????? ??????

    ?????? ??

Whether you were born there, or just hope to be there, you’re considered a native of E”Y.

But from the mood of your question, I’d say go for it.

Star Spangled Banner parody 1 (the National Phantom)

    Oh say can you see

    by Wall Street’s short-sight

    when democracy failed

    and investors were scheming

    with pinstriped suit and ties

    left the markets in scars

    from our sofas we watched

    as the nation was screaming

    Bernie Madoff’s great flare

of numbers high in the air

came crashing down in its flight

    my savings stripped bare

    oh say will that blood-spattered

    dollar still reign

in the land of corporate greed

and the home of the slave

    Parody 2 (the Natural Anthem)

    Oh say can you see

    my lawn’s burly sight

    It so sadly has failed

by your car’s gas that’s streaming

broad billows of smoke in a perilous flight

through ozone’s last layers, earth is drastically heating

and your gas grill’s big flare polluting the air

has ruined my plants; they are no longer here

Oh say was last winter the coolest in years?

“Oh, er, legislation is key, and the earth we must save.”

break it? why? so you can help solidify his cut apart feelings?

if he already had the confidence and gall to buy a computer things can only spiral outward.

Go speak to an open-minded Rav who has dealt w/ teens. There are so many factors involved, and so many possible influences on him either too hard to the right, or too soft to the left, etc. Maybe he needs a computer? <>radical alert!<> Rationalizing to break his computer at first thought may open insight to the rigidity of your own thought process which may be part of the problem, or not.

Although no one would agree watching movies is an optimal form of entertainment for a Jewish teen, there are many avenues of Jewish orthodoxy, and despite your particular persuasion and level of frumkeit, you may need to take a step back to the differentiate between the pressures of the your neighborhood’s culture, and true daas torah of what your son really needs to develop into a ben torah; which may include the need to smash his computer, or not 😉

    Oh beautiful for spacious skies

    For amber waves of grain

    For purple mountain majesties

    Above the fruited plain

    America, America

G-d shed His grace on thee

And crown thy good with brotherhood

    From sea to shining sea

    Oh beautiful for pilgrim feet

    Whose stern impassioned stress

    A thoroughfare of freedom beat

    Across the wilderness

    America, America

    G-d mend thine every flaw

    Confirm thy soul in self-control

    Thy liberty in law

    Oh beautiful for heroes proved

    In liberating strife

Who more than self their country loved

    And mercy more than life

    America, America

    May G-d thy gold refine

    Till all success be nobleness

    And every gain divine

    Oh beautiful for patriot dream

    That sees beyond the years

    Thine alabaster cities gleam

    Undimmed by human tears

    America, America

G-d shed His grace on thee

And crown thy good with brotherhood

    From sea to shining sea

    For amber waves of grain

    For purple mountain majesties

    Above the fruited plain

    America, America

G-d shed His grace on thee

Till souls wax fair as earth and air

    And music hearted sea

    Oh beautiful for pilgrims feet

    Whose stem impassioned stress

    A thoroughfare for freedom beat

    Across the wilderness

    America, America

G-d shed His grace on thee

Till paths be wrought through wilds of thought

    By pilgrim foot and knee

Oh beautiful for glory tale of liberating strife

When once and twice for man’s avail

    Men lavished precious life

    America, America

G-d shed His grace on thee

Till selfish gain no longer stain

    The banner of the free

    Oh beautiful for patriot dream

    That sees beyond the years

    Thine alabaster cities gleam

    Undimmed by human tears

    America, America

G-d shed His grace on thee

Till nobler men keep once again thy whiter jubilee

    Oh beautiful for spacious skies

    For amber waves of grain

    For purple mountain majesties

    Above the fruited plain

    America, America

G-d shed His grace on thee

    troll- noun

    troll, trolling- verb

Internet ‘trolling’ is the anti-social act of causing of interpersonal conflict and shock-value controversy online. Named for the wicked troll creatures of children’s tales, trolling is purposely sowing hatred, bigotry, or just simple bickering between others. Trolls themselves are emotionally-immature users who thrive in any environment where they are allowed to make public comments, like blog sites, news sites, discussion forums, and game chat.

How was it a miracle? The Allied forces had superior air power, superior numbers, more highly motivated soldiers, not to mention the ability to read virtually all secret communications sent to and from the German military (at least ones sent by radio). Now, if the Warsaw Ghetto uprising had managed to bring down Hitler and end the war – that would be a miracle.

Of course, the Religious Zionists have somewhat lowered the “bar” for what is considered a miracle, since they attribute the Israeli victories over the Arabs to “miracles” . The secular Israelis, the Hareidim, i.e. the Satmar Rebbe, and most of the world attribute the Israeli victories to having better trained, better led and better armed soldiers.

A miracle is something the happens that violates the laws of nature. The creation of the world was a miracle. The splitting of the sea is a miracle.

The entirety of this post is factually incorrect and ludicrous. In fact, i don’t think it’s really by the old @akuperma.

you’re bringing a remote example of an inference you say one would make from what the mishna brura omits.

What you’re talking about is a personal svara, and until they speak to a rav to make sure their svara isn’t flawed, they cannot and don’t pasken.

There is no such thing as anyone who’s not a rav, paskening for themselves to or to not wear tecehiles. Most people aren’t familiar with all the intricacies of hilchos tzitsis, and any argument either side gives is most probably flawed, because they do not know even slightly what their talking about, and at the end of the day they don’t wear techeiles or do wear techelies based on their respective gadol’s custom, not because of their idiotic arguments.

I’ll give you a contemporary example of paskening yourself. The rema says that during sefira, you can take a haircut on friday before sunday lag ba’omer, for the honor of shabbos. Now, someone who is holding ‘second half’ of sefira, who can haircut on shloshes yemei hagbala (this sunday) will use the parallel logic to pasken that they can haircut today, on friday. But in reality, it’s a machlokes haposkim, and the world is machmir in most cases.

The bottom line is, if it’s explicitly in the arcuh hashulchan, or the mishna brura, you can pasken from it. but because so much more is encompassed than meets the eye, and it takes a real posek to determine unwritten halacha, No one ever just paskens for themselves. EVER.

    @Patur Aval Assur

I tried to be melamed zechus with the Pischei Teshuva but I brought the Aruch Hashulchan to disagree with the limud zechus. I brought the Mishna Berura as another limud zechus.

How can you pasken from the Aruch Hashulchan’s quote not to pasken from The shulchan aruch? The answer is that the Aruch Hashulchan and the Mishna Brura are the answer. not a limud zechus.

No one ever paskens nowadays straight from the Shulchan Aruch, ever.

Yes it needs 2 hechsherim, one should be a national hechsher, and the other a chassidishe hechsher, but it must have the national hechsher before so the one giving the chasidishe hechsher knows its kosher. Plastic wrap is actually made of pure swine slime, in pasteurized, galvanized form heated to 400 degrees celsius, then cooled @ 0 degrees to lock in that versatile stretch of the material. It is called plastic wrap only because it was invented by 18th century mexican animal farmer, Juias Plastico.
