Aproudbyg, If you can’t get out of the house, Is there a way you can get yourself to therapy while living in the house? Your mother doesn’t even have to know about it. Some therapists may accept your insurance. Maybe you can find a kind teacher who can help you? I’d like for you to know that I’m going through the exact same thing right now. For several reasons, it is not practical for me to get out of the house. But I found some amazing mentors who are literrly saving my life. I can’t stress enough how important it is to reach out. Don’t allow urself to drown in it on your own. You want to do the right thing, you don’t want to go against your mothers wishes, but a person has a chiyuv to themselves first. You have to take care of yourself, try to look around you and see who you can trust. Get another trustworthy adult to help you make sense of it.

Maybe when i’ll be engaged (to a great person) already I’ll be able to say how much this time has helped me grow and shape me into the person i am today.:(

Unfortunately I don’t feel like that today. The shidduch that really sounded promising just fell apart. :(:(

Dont forget to dress VERY warm, its biting cold out there. And, you’re out for a long time!

We were wearing 2 pairs socks under good boots..thermal pants, thermal underwear, on that regular clothing, Sweatshirt waterproof gloves, hat, hood shawls and we werent overdressed..

Sorry my post went up twice…

I am a very visual person. It’s a shocker to picture one thing and see quiet another.

Call me shallow or whatver but If the guy is bad looking and its the first time i saw him, all I will see the entire date is his face. It WILL bother me the entire time.

If it’s something I got used to already, because I studied it, then it wouldnt bother me half as much.

A picture doesnt make it or break it in any shidduch I am inquiring about.

It’s just that I need the picture to get used to the person’s face! Its a shocker to see a person’s face for the first time when you meet them..

There’s a famous yiddish saying… with family essed men kugel…

If you can avoid it, Do so..

On the other hand, you have to know who you are dealing with. Sometimes you have a very trustworthy, respectful, erliche family member and you feel it could work out nicely, then you should give it a try.

    ramateshkolian- You said it!!

SELF CONTROL BUILDS SELF RESPECT , Yes that is soo powerful. A couple of months ago I was struggling (and sometimes still am) with my own self esteem.

There wasnt much in me I felt could be respected or that I could feel good about.

Hashem had given me soo much- he gave me loads of talents, alot of charisma and a pretty face. But, I just didnt see it!

None of that meant anything to me..

    I really was struggling…

Until someone pointed out to me to start working on my Self control.Every time I wanted to say something hurtful, or yell at the other person (and oh yes , they did deserve it) I would fight back the urge and instead I would take a deep breathe and count till 10 and the urge would slowly go away)

Once I started mastering it once, twice and several more times, the feeling that I am in control was the best self esteem booster there could ever be. Once I started feeling better about myself I started appreciating all the things hashem gave me.

Also, Push yourself to go out and volunteer. When an oppertunity arises dont say no! Fight that urge!!

    Good Luck,

    Hatzlacha!

People that are smiley and complimentary are a pleasure to be around…Everyone likes a good word,

But, it has to be sincere, fake flattery stinks..

I usually try to find something sincere and nice to say about the other person, although i should try to compliment a little more than I do!

    BPT, Impressive!!

Front loaders have agitaters as opposed to front loaders which do not.. Agitaters can tear your laundry, the front loaders are more gentle while doing a really good job.

Let a good man do good deeds with the same zeal that the evil man does bad ones.

    The Belzer Rabbi

How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and the strong — because someday you will have been all of these.

    George Washington

I have never been hurt by anything I didn’t say.

    Calvin Coolidge

There’s a little truth behind every “just kidding”

a little curiosity behind every “just wondering”, a little knowledge behind every “I don’t know”, and a little emotion behind every “I don’t care”.
