Well thinking about this last night it could mean 2 different things.

    1) Jewish music, like there is muslim music and christian music, so there is religous jewish music. (which is prob. what you mean)

This refers to music that helps you with your religion, get closer to Hashem.

This is what the OP meant.

    2) Jewish music, arabic, chinese music…

Jews are the only religion that is also a nation. (Technically, muslims are a type of arab)

Whatever makes you get closer to G-d.

But be careful, sometimes you feel it will but it’s superficial.

    Way to tell:

Think about this, if you had to have mincha RIGHT after hearing the song would it be better, worse or the same?

But of course, in spirituality there is no saying the same. You either go up or down.

We had this convo in school last week.

Depneds what grade this is. We are in high school and any excuse we have, we miss school. Like:

“The shuk is only open on monday morning!”

“I had a doctors appointment at nine…and well, after I came home at 10, why would I go to school?”

    “I was’n t in the mood”

“There wasn’t a test today though!”

    Totally agree.

Once me and my friend who was working in a store were talking when two chassidish gilrs walked in and began speaking yiddish about us. My friend is chassidish, but dresses like she’s litvish and was speaking with me in hebrew and english. They totally thought she didn’t undertsnad…

After they paid she said good night in yidish to them, but they just thought she was one of those people who knew like 5 words in another language and when meets people who actually speak the language, tries to impress them with their large (not) knowledge. So they laughed.

But when they left the store, it was us who were laughing more.

I am actually litvish, and chareidi aka ultra orthodox.

My school is in hebrew, but that may be because most people in Israel learn in hebrew.

    I am NOT OTD.

The school felt it be best that I was in a dorm V.S. living in the environment I was in.

It was a good reason, but I felt I could not handle another move and I would not be able to overcome such a challenge again.

I don;t wish to say any more.

I am a girl who want to do good and be the best daughter of Hashem as possible.

    Any more questions?

I am probably your age. I had a different story, choices and paths. I did what is best for me!

This is where I am now.

    Yes, I was.

Not because I am some evil monster, nor some OTD kid, nor some crazy kid doing dangerous stuff.

I was kicked out for things not in my control. Things that weren’t my fault and things I didn’t do.

    Which completely sucks.

B”H I am in a school now and things are better!

Lookingforsem: I also thought that way about my school, I had to daven in the classroom where girls made noise, and not get enough time for davening, also speeches in a foreign language, and other such things.

But do you really think they had meeting and said:

“Let’s not let _________(your name) grow higher in ruchniyus!”

Than the principal cackled evily and they all clinked glasses.

    Seriously?

Rules are in a place for a reason, listen I keep telling you the situation is far from perfect but they system now is the best one for catching and making the most of each girl, if they changed it to suit your needs more, more girls would fall completely through the cracks and be lost to us.

    Get it?

Okay, well I’m not sure it’s worse than being kicked out of the school I hate…I’m not sure which is better, I’ve been in both sides and both are horrible!!

    Lookingforsem, I’ve been there.

You could of boarded somewhere else, a lot of people I know have boarded in NY. or somewhere else, I used to live in a out of town place…kay?

I’m sorry I’m so moody, high school is so hard.

And high school is not only about friends, lookingforsem, BY system isn’t perfect, but I came to the conclusion that the system now is the best they’ve got, unless of course you have a better way to do things?

showjoe is right, but also wrong.

I’m in high school, have friends but aren’t fully happy.

That’s cuz you can choose what to see, yesterday I had stuff that any normal person would of seen as bad, but after thinking about it, Hashem handed me nisyonos that are helping me work on myself, stuff that I told HASHEM erev rosh chodesh that I want to work on this month.

Didn’t expect such hard tests so immediate, what can I say? Hashem loves me! 😉

K, but most days are pretty good, there are bad sides to like everything, and my school has got plenty of them, but I try to look toward the good…

Letakein: That’s so true, but I thought you americans had tonz of home work?? That’s what all my friends say! They cant breathe!! Also some schools her are like that too, not mine of course..so I get you.

But we are teenhs, there is what to do, plenty. If you are older there is less. You could learn something, read, do chesed, tutor, babysit, chat with your friends, sleep over by them if they live far away, hang out with your siblings…

Older singles can’t do all this, most of their friends are married.

    We do have more options.

    Count that day lost:

    by: George Eliot

If you sit down at set of sun

And count the acts that you have done,

    And, counting, find

    One self-denying deed, one word

That eased the heart of him who heard,

    One glance most kind

That fell like sunshine where it went —

Then you may count that day well spent.

But if, through all the livelong day,

You’ve cheered no heart, by yea or nay —

    If, through it all

You’ve nothing done that you can trace

That brought the sunshine to one face–

    No act most small

That helped some soul and nothing cost —

Then count that day as worse than lost.

I believe it was most proboly taken from this poem.

I know this poem since it’s one of the literature poems you learn for the english bagrut in Israel.

I helped a bunch of my israeli friends with this…

Seriously, when I wake up, you CAN mistake my hair for a mane, it really gets that frizzy.

I never knew it was even possible.

There is SO much you can do with straight hair!!!!!!!!

    bRAIDS, FRENCH, FISHTAIL, REGULAR…

    Buns, messy, cute, fun, regular,

ponytails, inward pony tail, clips, half pony’s, half braids, braids woven trough out hair, or as bangs, or a braid headband.

OR cut your hair short and wear it as a bob (A girl in my class came to school today with like 2 meters of her hair missing…)

Curly hair: Mouse, cream, more mouse, maybe a pony, or half pony with a clip….

Did you try wearing your hair with a cute funky headband and a messy side bun???

That looks good on like everyone….
