in reply to: How much do you pay for a babysitter? #739940

If you think its uncomfortable to ask your friends sister, who many times you have known her since she was very young, just imagine how uncomfortable it is for a 14-19 year old kid to ask. You hardly know the person and you just know that at the end of the night they’ll ask. You have alot of thoughts going though your head “Is 7 1/2 too little, the kids are loud and cranky and won’t go to sleep” “Is 10 too much?, i don’t know their economic situation, I don’t want it too be too difficult.” A large part of the night you are thinking about this and are very nervous. You decided finally a number or give a range, they make a strange sound and you begin to feel guilty that you are asking too much.

And I don’t know about where you live but personally ( and many of my friend do similar), on my own, with out my parents advising me either way, decide ” tonight, i see that they need it more then me, going though a rough time, bla bla, i won’t accept the money and will do it as a chessed”, that doesn’t always turn out that well either, with all of you guys complaining you would be surprised how many people get ANGRY and demand i take the $ i refuse to.

in reply to: baby sitting #739378

i’m really sorry, i thought i wrote “if the wife can do it” im not talking about the times when they can’t but many times it has been oh let me drive you home, actually my husband is closer to the car……..

just in case any of these made you think im bitter or nasty, im not.

i love these kids!, im not complaining about stupid things, im saying its uncomfortable/ awkward in many of these circumstances, and i just can’t do my very best dealing with your kids if you make it extremely uncomfortable for me

in reply to: PTach Program – Boys HS in Flat #738875

i’m pretty sure that the majority are mainstreamed bkz it is in a setting that classes that they can excel in they are mainstreamed and those that they need at lil extra help in they are in the ptach program.

and i know many who went on too Israel and seminary and college

    nooo. bygirl93

    you misunderstood me

like if your running late- not if your running early.

    like if you say oh we won’t be later then 10PM and you come home 1115 PM that bothers me. its one thing to say oh 10, 1030 ish, but saying explicitly that we WON’T be later then ___ and then coming an hour and 15 later, that’s frustrating. { so call in that sense}

but in terms of shabbos– try to stick to the times you say, 15 mins isnt a big deal but hour + , that is.

but you made very good points.

also awkward is in between me getting there and you leaving, sometimes even 20 mins , soo much pressure : )

in reply to: PTach Program – Boys HS in Flat #738871

I would pretty much assume that the majority of your questions would be answered

    here:

in reply to: baby sitting #739370

    lets see

    a whole entire list

~ if your kid is sick TELL ME

~ pick up the phone if your child is sick and i’m babysistting

~ if you say you won’t be back later then a time— don’t waltz in a hour and 15 minutes later without calling or anything

~ if i tell you that i don’t want you to pay me — don’t make me feel guilty for not taking your money ( i have a clear reason)

~ try to pay me on time, if not that day – the next?

    {editing cause i thought of more}

~ have your wife tell me that i can fall asleep, not you the rabbi, and when i say no, please don’t make it more awkward for me and tell me to sleep in your kids bed 🙂

~ i know it may be difficult- but can the wife please drive me home?

~ call me a lil ahead of time? i don’t like saying no but when you call me the night before a wedding you have ~ most times i will say no.

~ if your canceling? call me, even if you just asked me outside of shul, i have no way of knowing if you meant it or not (always good to clarify those outside of shul things)

    i’ll have more soon 🙂

    any others?

in reply to: how young is too young to married #733896

    a) there has been girls in the recent past that have gotten married at 15 <— and then they DO get kicked out of there respective schools.

and the 17 man/child is unlikely.

thing number one- the 15/16 girl could be mature -the 17 year old boy? not a chance.

in those cases it’s a above age ( ie 22+) year old guy

that’s a tad creepy- aka a whooole other story/ issue

in reply to: Who Thinks Mid-Winter Vac. Should Be Banned? #728703

    no,no. thats the most modern.

most modern- break in dec/ jan (which is 10 days- i think)

less modern- 10 day break in late jan

even less modern- 4/ 5 day break ( with boys and girls sharing maybe 2/3 same days)

in reply to: Who Thinks Mid-Winter Vac. Should Be Banned? #728701

the more modern = the more days off
