dafhachaim.com is a great daf yomi tool, they have a intro shiur, daf shiur & five minute review shiur daily, with graph/pics on the side that make everything very clear

Ask your dentist if he has training in using Botox for this issue, it will help relax those muscles and will take care of your problem better than anything else out there,

    dash:

On a PC just type: “wmplayer.exe http://67.212.160.34:8443” in the search box. – this no longer works – this is what it says once I hit enter:

Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted.

    Any advice?

While the timing of the event might not be a proper time (for you), I completely disagree with the notion that it is a lack of menchlichkeit & a lack of seichel on the school’s part. Maybe the school actually used some thought and that was the best time to make it. I would even say to not be so selfish that since its not going to work for you, that you just blame the school for its lack of menchlichkeit and seichel. Why not just call the school/teacher and see why the event is held when it is before jumping to a conclusion like the above. Nowadays, it almost seems easier to just go on a website and complain about something without even taking the time to see what the full story is.

Should we say mothers of kids are lacking seichel as well when they make a party in school for their kids and the fathers can’t come because they are working during the day? Or maybe its a lack when the school makes shacris for the kids at 7:30 when its better for me (as a father) at 7:15 so I can daven with my child.

Also, is it not worth a few unpaid hours to all mothers (and grandmothers) to see some nachas of your kids (gandkids).

Thanks DassYochid, will do – seems that using wm player stops it every now and then, Will work for a while (anywhere from 5 minutes to a few hours) and then stop. So I guess it is fine right now, but will try real player as well.

    Two Stories:

    1) I know a son of a dentist who told me that a shaddchan once called him and ask for info on how the girls teeth were (know this is true) – this is crazy!! He tells them that not only are they being silly, its also private info between the doc and the patient

    2) I know another person who was called as a reference and was asked what they ise on shabbos (paper, plastic or china.

Maybe if people would stop looking into such non-important things and wouild just focus on what is important, this whole “shidduch crisis” would not be around.

Have a great one for you guys. I heard this story from a friend of who it happened to. On the way home from a date, the boy says to the girl, if she doesn’t mind, can they pull over for a few minutes so he can close his eyes. He said he was travelling all day and was really tired and just needed a few minutes. She said no problem, I will wake you up in 5-10 minutes. They both woke up at around 5 or 6 am…

Not sure if they ever got married or not, but that’s a great story to share with your kids.

Reb Moshe brings a few reasons why its assur. One is because its mekalkal the guf. ANother is that it makes you a non-bar daas and if one does any mitzvos at that time, he will not be mekayaim them. Another is being over not honoring your parents because they will have tzar from you doing this. He ends by saying that one needs to stay away from this and befrat people who learn in yeshiva.

This is just a bikitur, if one wants to see the whole thing, look it up or if someone else here wants, they can expound of this and also fix any mistakes, I might have made.

    anon for this:

I was thinking the same when I read this letter on Shabbos. This just helps to prove my point, lets see what kind of backlash comes from this letter a) in this thread and b) in the yated.

Thanks for posting the letter, wanted to do it myself, but have no idea how to do it w/o typing it up my self, how did you do that?

    qwertyuiop:

agreed, but as designing mentioned, if the person takes a turn for the worse, you will probably get another message. The problem is that everyone is quick to send these out for when they know someone who gets sick, but we never hear any updates. Is one just supposed to daven for them for the rest of time? There has to be some sort of cut off, for all one knows by the time you or me get the message, the situation could have changed for better or worse.

Also, you mention that you daven for them even if they get better, how do you know they have gotten better? And lets say you get a text that ploni ben ploni needs a refuah, then after two months of davening, he gets better (and you don’t know), now since you don’t know, you assume he is still sick and now you are daveing for a healthy person to have a refuah shelaima, and that is a not a good thing and possibly even an eyin hora.

I asked my Rosh Yehsivah a few years ago when this starting becoming a big thing. He told me if possible try to track down the origin and see about getting updates (this is almost impossible to do, he saud if this is not an option, then you should daven for the choleh for a week and the is enough. Hope this helps

Why is it when it comes to a concert everyone is jumping to wonder what the gedolim say and do as they say, but when it comes to things like the internet, smoking, tv, kosher phones only… people seem to turn a closed ear to what the rabonim have to say?

Noitallmr – not sure wht you are asking. I am stating that the general feeling I get from some people is that if you are working, it automaticaly makes you some sort of gvir and your richer than every single kollel/mechanech out there and that is simply not true, there are plenty of working people who are constantly struggeling to make a living as well.

Never understood why people are more afraid of dorm’s than staying in town. If a boy wants to do something, he will find a way to do it, no matter where he is. Its all on who he hangs out with, and bad influences can be both in dorm’s and around in town yeshivos as well.

I really don’t see what the big deal is, if you see the email from YWN and it’s a advertisement from a sponsor, just delete it, how long does that take? That is what I do when I get them, it takes a few seconds to do and then I go on with the rest of my day. And yes deleting it from your phone, also takes a few seconds and I don’t even have to open it and than you won’t waste any kilobytes, like someone said above with that concern about getting these emails.

So YWN keep sending them to me, as I see no problem in you trying to make your source of parnassah greater.
