There is a shidduch crisis- but maybe its BECAUSE evryone has ridiculous expectations- maybe just let them go out and see- in the old days there seemed to be no shidduch crisis- maybe the system is broken- maybe its not the best way for it to be handled- maybe the shidduch crisis is because a guy wont go out with a girl without a picture- but most girls don’t agree with pictures being given out- some are not against it- but im pretty sure not many if at all are for it- and its not histadlus- the checking out is histadlus the first date is histadlus but a picture im pretty sure is not- no one is saying u can’t ask about her looks etc- but at a certain point its going to far- it has to stop somewhere- we r NOT pieces of meat for sale or come pick ur perfect match etc- we r human with feelings and would like to be treated as such- most of the time the girl has met the shadchan- trust the shadchan! Seriously! Im not evn getting into halacha as to whether or not they can look at those pictures cuz im not a guy and i dont no all the details- but I do know it makes a girl feel more degraded like she’s a thing and not a person and if a guy asks for a pic i prob wuldnt wanna go out with him anyway- just my personal opinion- if im not worth the time of a first date unless i look a certain way then he’s not worth my time!

for shticky i pictured the most typical flatbush boy- with the plastic nerd style frame- and the skinny tie etc.

for zeeskite- i picture a mother of like 12- all under the age of 18- who is working, yet has everything under control is always calm etc. and all her kids feel like of course their her favorite-

for gumball- cute, fun, creative, bouncy, opinionated type- and the life of the party and everyone gets along with her.

for luna- well i picture you like luna lovegood!!

    what about me………..?

Two beggars are sitting side by side on a street in Rome, Italy.

One has a Cross in front of him; the other one is holding the Star of David.

Many people go by, look at both beggars, but only put money into the

hat of the beggar sitting behind the Cross.

The Pope comes by. He stops to watch the throngs of people giving

money to the beggar who holds the Cross while none gives to the beggar

    holding the Star of David.

Finally, the Pope approaches the beggar with the Star of David and

says, “My poor fellow, don’t you understand? This is a Catholic

country; this city is the seat of Catholicism. People aren’t going to

give you money if you sit there with a Star of David in front of you,

especially when you’re sitting beside a beggar who is holding a Cross.

In fact, they would probably give more money to him just out of

    spite.”

The beggar with the Star of David listened to the Pope, smiled, and

turned to the beggar with the Cross and said, “Moishe, would you look

who’s trying to teach the Goldstein brothers about marketing!”

peerim- pls tell your friend that if he is one of those guys standing on the corner checking out the girls or purposely crossing the street purposely to “walk by” girls- 1) he obviously has no life 2) girls are talking about how pathetic he is- oh ya- and he’s being over an issur- but thats not my business.

btw- the old city is where the “action” is or the rova to be more specific- on a friday night or thurs night – so if you want to rant and rave about something pick something like that not some place pretty innocent like geula

its because of kashrus!!!- that is the original reason to no mishing- no one knew what other ppl did in their kitchens and to avoid embarresment- they all just said they don’t “mish” especially because alot of ppl have extra chumros on pesach- its a minhag that is still followed a lot- and if its ur minhag not to mish and you do- u have to be mater neder before hand- because u r taking a way a chumra- unless your husbands fam does mish- cuz then u are simply accepting his minhagim

the girls i know didnt go get dressed up and especially go to geula- the only free time they had was fri- so they went- they didnt go to look at the guys etc- they just went got what they needed and left! its erev shabbos!! no one is just sitting around!! there are things to do!!

notedaskan- i think she means cuz a boy has an issur about thinking about girls- but girls dont have that issur-

well unfortunately it happens- that’s why if you see a car on the side of the road at night in a secluded area you should not slow down and you should call 911 and see if anything has been reported and have them send help for the car- and i am not just saying this- i have been told this by many people- cops, hatzala members, and lawyers who work for the state said that there are many stories like that- baruch Hashem not many were Jews! and most happen in out of town places like the Catskills etc. Also if a cop car tries to pull you over at night you are allowed to not stop as long as you call 911 or the police precinct (if you know it)and give them the place and car number- they will radio the car that you won’t stop until you reach a more populated area- its 100% allowed- there have been cases of a cop off duty- or a stolen cop car- unfortunately this is the times we live in that we have to be careful about helping someone!!!

coffee addict- i don’t think it’s disgusting at all!! think about it- a lot of people would stop- but lately there have been lots of stories of people being hijacked because they stopped to help someone- if this was at night- he would have been crazy to stop- but since he was able to identify the car as a Jew’s he knew there would be no danger in stopping!!- it doesn’t really matter that it was fiveish- it could have been jep, simcha, the shmooze- or any of the countless schools and camps that make these magnets!!!

popa- anorexia is when the subject starves themselves and obssesses over the fact that they are fat even if they are not. they wear baggy and unattractive clothing because they feel they are fat and ugly!!!!!! its not just simply watching what you eat- which in the case above sounds like its fine that she’s watching what she eats- its completely natural for her to want to do that!

nechomah- you are right- most schools don’t and I am very thankful I had a uniform because i could never decide what to wear even just on shabbos- but the girls I know who went from uniformed elementary school to not wearing one in high school in the beginning maybe had a problem- but after that they got used to picking stuff out or just throwing on whatever- and they all became sure of themselves and of what they are wearing then the rest of us- who more than a half a yr out of high school- and are less confident and much more self conscious on what they pick out and dress for everyone else and not themselves- so sometimes in girls cases when you are older it might actually be better not to have a uniform and just have a dress code- that way they can gain confidence in an appropriate and tznuis fashion- and they learn first hand what is good and not- maybe we wouldn’t have so many girls whose skirts are just a little to high when they sit- or maybe just a little less flashy- as for guys- I agree with the whole white shirt thing for yeshivah- but I think to judge whether or not someone is more yeshivish or not really doesn’t depend on the shirt- and people shouldn’t be so quick to judge- almost 7 yrs ago mir Yerushalem put out a pamphlet- on the cover was a picture of all the boys learning all in white shirts- if you look closely there is one boy in a blue shirt- if one would see it one would assume he just came to the yeshiva and doesn’t know much yet or that he is more modern etc.- I know that boy- and all of that would be 100% not true- he actually was one of the top bachurim there- he just ran out of clean white shirts- and its better that the shirt should be blue then not clean- and he had no idea they were taking a picture because he was busy learning!- so just saying white shirt or blue- be careful not to judge!

if you are buying american products its expensive or regular price but if you buy the israeli products its cheaper or the same- but may be lesser quality- also food-wise- i would recomend either buying with ur frends and splitting the bill- or go to the shuk or geula once a week and buy a bunch- its cheaper there- also side note- the carmel popcorn in geula is a really gud studying food!!! buy it in bulk- its one of the cheapest if not THE cheapest snacks u can find

yummy cupcake- you can record it on an ipod- even a kosher one like the new nano- all you need is a little mic that fits into the headphone jack!- just make sure that the one that is bought is compatible with your ipod because otherwise it wont work!

twinklestar- bya and bnos sara are definitely sweater, blouse, and skirt type- maachon raya- dresses should also be fine
