how about we be each others shmira- if someone sees wat seems like a not okay discussion btwn two ppl- with different genders they either write a “subtle” hint telling them to stop- or they culd point out to the mods wat is going on- and the mods can choose to edit those posts-

@Bygirl, I thought you knew me so well- after all, you’re the *queen*… lol

@Brucklyn Jewess I *loved* your poems: I really related to the first one and the second one was really evoking (evocative?). Here’s another one I wrote in honor of the weather:

    I do like the sun

    Its glaring rays

Bringing all your troubles to light

    There’s nowhere to hide

    Under its harsh light

    Everyone can see your face

    Your eyes blink

    Unable to tolerate

    Its beating force

    The rain is dreary

    Everyone is upset

    Not just you

    No one is looking

    They’re focused on themselves

    They don’t see your pain

    And as the rain

    Rolls down your face

    Your tears are concealed

    Under the clouds

    In the rain

No one can see you cry

    Thanks!

    M.

Hey everyone I’m not bygirl but she is graciously allowing me to use her account to post because I don’t have one of my own. I’m really enjoying all the poetry it’s always been a passion of mine and it’s hard to get people interested in it. This thread is a great idea because I’m always too embarrassed to share my poetry but this is anonymous!!! So thanks for the opportunity and here’s a poem:

Even if we started off one way

It’s all right to end off on another note

Even if we started off singing together

It’s all right if we slowly drift apart

    Because life changes

But I know one thing that will stay the same

    Life changes

    But that’s okay

I always knew what I wanted

It’s alright to want something else now I’m older

I always had that dream I was to follow

It’s alright to decide to change my mind

    Because life changes

But I know one thing that will stay the same

    Life changes

    But that’s okay

When I was little I was fine

    With a constantly changing scenery

When i was younger life was never boring

    Mystery just around every corner

    Because life changes

But I know one thing that will stay the same

    Life changes

That’s the only thing that will stay the same

    And that’s okay

    Hope you liked!

    title-The Series Called Life:

    An open book awaits,

    A new page,

    A fresh start,

    Pen poised,

    Waiting,

    Boldly jump in,

    A clean page,

    The story,

    Waiting to be written,

    Pen scribbling,

    Writing the story,

    The story of life,

    Book after book,

    Each book a new stage,

    Each page a new story,

    A new book,

    A courageous start,

    Enter in to the unknown,

    Forage a path,

    Write the book,

    Start anew,

    Constantly progressing,

    Moving forward,

    Continue,

    It’s time,

    Time to start anew,

    A new book,

    A new stage,

A new stage of life awaits!

bas yisroe- i had the same exact problem- it usually develops over time but it really depends on ur teacher- my skewl is tracked in most hebrew subjects so i was in the lowest track and i skipped up two tracks- for a certain reason- and i was really behind the other girls in skills- an the teacher worked with me so i culd catch up- the key is starting small start with rashis- and the pesukim- reading the parsha and then when u feel u culd do that move on to ramban or some other miforshim- if ur struggling- just keep on going if u dont know a word skip it and get the jist of wat its saying- that shuld help u figure out wat that word means- and if u get ahead of urself- just backtrack and take it slow- and as for dikduk- my teacher says thats impt- but just for the record- i stink at it- rlly just stick to woorying about past tense or present or future- and not the rest- eventually u culd do that- hope this helps- it worked forme! 😉

1st of all as a girl shopping for sem clothes now- which would b the type of clothes most schools who dont have uniforms wear- it is def cheaper then my uniform! uniforms r rlly expensive and then u have to buy regular weekday clothes on top of that! without a uniform its also easier to find things on sale or out of season that u culd buy for much cheaper- thats perf. for school but uniforms r never on sale! but on the other hand- i have a uniform and rlly dont mind it! we have a lot of leeway (sry if i spelled it wrong) when it comes to accesories, tights, shoes, etc.- i would rlly say whether uniforms r gud or not depends on where u r holding in life! 🙂

i think its ok to dress up as long as you keep it tznuis and appropriate- there are some people who are always tznuis but when it comes to purim they wear 6inch heels, fish net stockings, a pretty short and tight skirt and a tight top- with the most disgusting make up- enough is enough- you can still dress up and look like a bais yaakov girl!!! boys also have to watch how they dress!!! there is such a thing as tznuis for guys too!!! i mean i saw one guy- in a kilt!!! and then i saw this other guy with a long puple wig etc….. i dont think you want me to continue…. it was DISTURBING to say the least!!! and it was in shul no less!

I dont know about most girls but i just take what i get- if they ask me i say i don’t name a price they should give me what they feel comfortable with- i have someone sometimes she pays me 5$ and hour sometimes she pays me 10- it depends on each persons financial situation i have a couple of ppl i dont charge at all and i dont let them give me money- and i just chalk it up as chesed hours- which as anyone in high school knows- most people go well over the 30 required hours! and some ppl i have a credit thing going sometimes the pay me a 20 for a half hour but then dont pay me the next two times etc. it all depends on how well u know the person ur babysitting for- i dont babysit for strangers- and if u dont want to give a babysitter 10$ and hour i dont blame u but if the kids are up and they put them to bed ect. then they def. dont deserve 5$ id say a sleeping kid or two six or seven dollars- if they had to take care of htem 8 or nine and if it was a whole day thing- set a price for the whole day before hand ssay- if u babysit from 10 to 5 ill pay u 50$ theyll usually agree-even though its 7 hours- most girls would b happy to make 50$ in a day and wont count out the hours to b exact! hope it helps u see it from our perspective! oh and ya if u r one of those who go out once a week withur friends- then obviously u can afford to pay 10- even if u r a kollel couple- who paid for your bugaboo? oh and the going out was on ur parents credit card? maybe next time ask ur parents for cash?- sry i dont mean it to sound mean but its ok to take from ur parents for ur own enjoyment but not to pay someone wat they deserve?

please clarify what you mean when you say New York because where I live which IS part of nyc and is not bklyn and most ppl do say gs to each other, the only time one does not is when a teenage girl is passing a teenage boy- and thats because of tznius and if s/o doesnt say gs they at least nod in your direction and smile! can i point out though that in bklyn i was walking one shabbos with my aunt and the only people who said gud shabbos back to us were two israeli girls who were dressed just barely on the guidlines of tznuis- that made our day! in bklyn i have a rule of not saying gud shabbos at all unless I’m with s/o else- u have to follow minhag hamakom- no? 🙂 and i def. dont say to the oppisite gender either BUT you def. should smile at the ppl who pass you in the street or in a store whether they are jewish or not it is a big kiddush HASHEM- i always met this lady walking home from school and i always smiled at her on my way- one day i was running late and when i walked by she wasn’t there- which was normal cuz it was a bus stop but the next day when i walked by on time- she smiled back at me and asked- is everything ok? you weren’t here yestereday- i then realized that ppl notice what you do and how u act even your facial expressions- i assured her everything was fine and then she proceeded to tell me how she takes the bus to visit her mother who is really sick and my smile everyday gives her the courage to go on and believe everything will be ok- moral of the story- u never know who you will affect so even if you dont want to say gs at least acknowledge the person!!! the greatest gedolim did- so dont think ur such a tzaddik for not talking to women- if the gedolim acknowledged that other ppl matter- u can too!

please don’t call us the night before or the day of- we have a life too and feel guilty saying no- please be responsible and if you know of an event you will be having please ask us before- i had someone they knew they had a wedding 2 months before and that night an hour before they needed me they called- i had to say no because it was not enough time warning and i didn’t have a chance to ask permission from my parents- also if u got my number from someone please tell me who you got it from because i don’t like babysitting for complete strangers- and a lot of the times i say no its not because of you- it could be my parents don’t let that night etc. i ‘m just sometimes embarrassed to say “my mother says i cant…” i mean i am 17 and i don’t want to appear like a baby to you so i say- I’m not available- or oh that night??? I’m so busy I’m sorry- don’t think its just a polite way to snob you out- i had someone who i said that to and then when i was online the night that they asked me my gmail chat status was like- i am so bored- i have no life- and they were all insulted i told them i was busy they thought i said no because i didn’t like them! also when it comes to the food- please tell us if we can take because if we aren’t given explicit permission and even though you really do let if we take- halachiclly its gezel- so please TELL us and don’t assume we know we can- also please specify if u want us to pick up your phone if it rings- i had 1 person who didn’t want me too and didn’t tell me so i picked up- and the same thing happened the other way around- please leave emergency info and tell us where to find it!!!!!! i also agree with everything said above by whatelseisleft but they dont need to call u! its their house!!!! and if we do fall asleep please dont make a big deal out of it- we are embarressed even if you r joking!- thank you
