Anyone have an opinion on buying marijuana stocks ?!?!
Sell high
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDid they make it in BOBOV 45 and BOBOV 33?
Nice one.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe original Bobover version was on an album titled “Eizehu M’komon”.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou’re welcome.
Was your previous comment directed at the Bob Dylan post? I’m quite skeptical.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantOn the topic of original recordings, does anyone know if there is an actual studio recording of the song Sameyach which was composed by Mona Rosenblum and sung by MBD on the live In Jerusalem CD and HASC 5, and played by Moms on HASC 6 in a Mona Medley?
It was actually composed by R’ Baruch Chait and first appeared on a Kol Salonika tape called V’somachta.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAccording to the back of the record, it was composed by Shlomo Zolty, and Mordechai Paul also had a solo.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe problem with this question is that we don’t know which song he is actually referring to
We do, because it’s the one MBD sang on MBD and Friends.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantFirst Toronto record. About 1974 or so. Soloist was David Buzaglo.
Yep

Of course it is. That doesn’t mean He doesn’t want is to do our hishtadlus to alleviate it.

It doesnt exaplian the Shidduch crises” as it is widly described and asHow is the shidduch crisis widely described, and how does it differ from reality?

the reason is a simple one ” a large percentage of boys in the frum so called chareidi circles are just not marriageable materialCan’t there be multiple reasons? Can’t we deal with one reason if it will minimize the problem, even if it can’t eliminate it?

Shidduch crisis? What shidduch crisis?

How is money more of a role today? How are arranged marriages different now from then?
Is it realistic to go back to how it was done 30 years ago? Is it a good idea to do so?
I think the problem existed 30 years ago.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIt’s very odd, but it happens.
There was one wedding my wife was invited to without me. Her friend was given a very strict limit on how many people to invite (she wasn’t the one paying, and both sides were not well off financially) and inviting spouses would have been at the expense of inviting friends.

There probably are.

To name a few: age of chosson, age of kallah, the expectation that money shouldn’t play a role, childbirth mortality, arranged marriages (related to age).

Your point that people shouldn’t be so hung up on age, and should consider shidduchim where the girl is older than the boy, is one which I’m sure NASI would wholeheartedly agree with.

I don’t know if it existed 150 years ago, but many potentially contributing factors have changed since then.

First hand knowledge
See, the thing is, it doesn’t make sense. Sure, boys (and girls) have superficial criteria for who they’ll date or marry. However, if there isn’t some type of numbers disparity, even if boys were too picky, (to a worse extent than girls) there would still be just as many unmarried boys as girls.

I agree that you can’t bring any raya from a (real or imagined) list one shadchan has. There can be any number of explanations why his list is skewed even if the overall numbers were uneven.

I’m confused. Do you want to hear what the anti-NASI people say, or do you want to hear a rational explanation?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhat are the usual requirements for a bochur to start shidduchim?
He needs someone to go out with
How does one know if they’re ready?
Rule of thumb: old enough to post on the CR, old enough to get married
If a bochur is working, how much should he be making before starting?
$20 an hour
All sound advice is appreciated.

2) They claim that there aren’t actually fewer boys, just that the boys aren’t in the same shidduch field as the girls being referred to (e.g. no longer frum).
3) They claim that the reason there are so many unmarried girls isn’t because of age gap, it’s because the boys reject so many girls because of superficial reasons.☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWinnie; “When in Rome…” is a quintessential goyishe hashkafa. A Yid is a Yid wherever he/she may be.
What about minhag hamakom?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIf Roman lettuce has bugs, why wouldn’t Roman artichokes?
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantmost gebrokts items are made with 18 minute matza.
I was under the impression that most commercial gerokts products aren’t even made with 18 minute matza. (18 minute matza refers to the machines being cleaned every 18 minutes.)
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHow can there be any kashrus problems or hashkafa issues when all these top rabbis are starring at these resorts all over the world?
How can someone be considered a top rabbi if they go to Pesach programs with serious kashrus issues?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantKashrus agencies should keep their brands far, far away from such lists.
So if Coors bought in a certain area within a certain time period is likely to be assur, the OU should not inform consumers?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantFNY, do you think we should be disregarding all of the published lists of stores to avoid after Pesach? Or is this just a beer issue?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDY: my left field theories are just adding layers of safek.
No, they’re just pretending to.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWe suffered.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant100% Agree! Take any typical song composed today, they are MUCH worse than ANY Carlebach song.
There are also some very nice ones. Sing those.
From what I heard, he was very makpid not to listen to any non-Jewish songs, thus his creativity and singing should not be tainted by any impure sources.
Aside from that not being true (He sang Kumbaya and Ki Va Moed; the high part of Ki Va Moed is a secular tune), he was the source of his compositions.
Putting that aside, it’s certainly possible that the songs themselves can be okay even if the composer wasn’t. I think many people don’t want to sing his songs, especially in shul, because it simply disgusts them to think of who composed them.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDY: a company affiliated to him owned the beer in it’s possession on pesach of 2017.
According to the articles I’ve read, it’s his company. He owns it, and therefore owns the beer. I know of no information to the contrary. If you think there may be some type of ownership structure which makes it not halachically considered his beer, you need to prove that. You can’t create a safek out of left field theories.

April 26, 2018 10:59 am at 10:59 am in reply to: Upon discovering that your shul uses Carlebach niggunim #1511885☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThere seems to be an endless ability for segments of the frum tzibur to invest countless hours in searching out potential opportunities to create broigas with those who don’t share their hashkafah and promoting the “sinas chinam issue du jure’. How about self-mussar and waking up each morning and finding some new inyan of our own behavior we might consider changing as compared to waking up each day and starting a post about some issue in our lives that requires others to change.
You first.

I think it’s ridiculous to say that if someone is mekarev someone, they then have to support them financially.

He owns the beer he buys from the breweries.
