Yaakov: Unlike the Torah, I doubt any contemporary military allows its soldiers to marry a prisoner it captured.

    600kilo:

If a sick weird person who you suspect may be a danger to society lives in your neighborhood, but he never committed an actual crime yet (much like this guy), what can be done? You can’t jail him for what he didn’t do. And you can even institutionalize him against his will due to mere suspicions of future behavior. And as long as he is in society, he will live in someone’s neighborhood – he has to be somewhere. So what’s to be done?

The best shidduchum (and the most shidduchim) come from friends and family and colleagues, NOT from “professional shadchanim”. For good reason too.

$500 a season sounds like child labor!

    Teens are child labor.

Anyways, the free camp that normally costs thousands to attend is part of the pay benefits in addition to the actual financial compensation.

Ask the goyish girls. But don’t become friends with them. And certainly don’t become influenced by them. But like everyone said, it’s still far better than asking a boy.

How can I make more threads appear on the main coffee room page? They scroll off too fast, and I am losing track of threads that I was trying to follow, but disappeared only a few hours after recent activity. Is there any way to change it from 50 to 100 threads appearing on the main page?

According to the poskim who allow folding, it’s even on the crease because they hold that we are not experts today in knowing the art of folding that it should be so perfect.

Many poskim hold you can fold it, but not on the crease (pressed line).

Unfortunately, it probably is b/c certain Yidden have abused it in the past. I saw certain frum Jews today abusing the privilege and I don’t live in Flatbush.

Why are you blaming the Jews. If you were a gentile saying that, you would rightfully be condemned as an anti-semite. Just because you are Jewish you think you are immune?

A friend once wasn’t charged at Staples for an expensive toner and asked his R”Y what to do. He was told that he was allowed to keep it but he won’t see any mazal with anything it’s used for.

So the family photos he prints won’t have any mazal? How does that work?

If someone did NOT want the recognition, surely they would stipulate to that.

At least the default should be no recognition (as everyone acknowledges is the proper way.) If he wants recognition, let him request it.

    Too young is no good

What do you refer to as “too young”? 15? Who would disagree. 18? Many successful marriages at that age, and in fact there is no evidence any less successful than those marrying at 22.

So wait. Here the cashier is asking the customer to give her one box to scan 5 times. So an error will occur either way. Is he *obligated* to advise her she is making an error? Or could he follow her instructions to give her once case? It is *her* error, so it is taaos akum. He may as well as give her the one with no deposit, so that he isn’t overcharged.

Do you think the Barditchiver would exclaim “Look how good we are – We daven even when we’re so engrossed in our toys”?

Isn’t that precisely what the Barditchever exclaimed when he saw the man fixing his wagon with oily hands, while wearing his Tefilin and davening —

Oy, RBS”O, look at your precious children, even while he is conducting his personal business fixing his wagon he can’t stop thinking about you and davening to you!!
