    Starbucks on 18th and 66th?

“You should also try to be practical and accept the reality that you have to meet someone else, and the best way to be a desirable shidduch, is by being b’simcha and showing a warm and together picture to the world.”

Absolutely. It took awhile to realize that, but thank god I have.

“It is painful, can even feel like a death (it kind of is – the death of a relationship, the death of the potential for a life with the other person).”

Interesting, that’s exactly what my therapist at the time told me. That’s exactly what it felt like. Something inside me died along with the relationship.

    Glad to hear!

Eh, could’ve been better :-/ My family has a really ‘cool’ way of creating drama from nothing…

As a proud MO I’m sure you know what my vote is…

I was speaking to a chassidic co worker today who just recently got married. She told me her parents did research on her husband FOR A YEAR & they had two B’shows, 4 hours apart.

    Oy…not for me..

    LOL! Good one, Goq.

‘Wicked’ works too, or maybe ‘Are people born wicked, or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?’

in reply to: just came by to say hi,,,did you miss me? #865265

Hey! I’m relatively new here, but you’re like a celebrity.

    Welcome Back!

Glad to hear things are better now.

    So….any chance I’ve earned a subtitle yet…?

    1)Realizing the problem.

    2)Figuring out constructive solutions.

3)Taking action even if it means doing things you aren’t comfortable with.

(i.e- going to therapy, taking medication, cutting off unhealthy relationships..etc)

I’m *bumping* this thread up because I just discovered it and it hit home. Next month it’ll be two years since my engagement broke. Everyone told me the pain would decrease with time. The memories are slowly fading, but the flashbacks are still there.

I just wanted to give a pat on the back to all those that are suffering the pain of a breakup. It’s not easy, not for guys and not for girls. I was told that one day “You’ll look back at this time and laugh”. That’s ridiculous. I will never laugh at a time when I was in so much pain, I will look back and see why I had to go through it.

Stay Strong Everyone! (Talking to myself here as well..)

I have some friends who have a fb and rarely use it, others (like myself) became addicted very quickly. As smartgal pointed out, the app on my phone allowed me to access it 24/7.

in reply to: Help! Have Gallstones; Can I Avoid Gallbladder Removal?? #925578

Gabi: “How does a gallstone attack feel?”

In my experience it was kind of like having a blockage right under the chest. The symptoms mimicked that of a heart attack (god forbid) chest pain, nausea, labored breathing, INTENSE upper abdominal pain…

    Not a pleasant memory.

    in reply to: Impatience #859127

“NOMTW: Sorry, our posts crossed. No, I have not. Why do you specifically suggest that as a possibility?”

Sometimes when you feel incredibly anxious it is impossible to focus on the task at hand. The inability to focus can make you irritable and breed even more anxiety. I’m not one for throwing the term around loosely which is why you might want to talk to a professional about it, but it was just my instinct when I read your post.

Interesting you mentioned my father, we aren’t really close. It’s my mother that I was always close to and I guess she’s feeling it now..I tried over Purim to really spend time with her and go around delivering MM with her. Thank god it seemed to really work.

Pretty much exactly the reason I deactivated as well. The amount of drama it was causing in my life was unhealthy. I found myself constantly refreshing my page and unfocused in my schoolwork. It’s completely addictive.

I deactivated 4 months ago & have never looked back since.

Being that the 100th anniversary is coming up in April -(coinciding with the re-release of the film) I would think Titanic jokes are not thaaaaat appropriate. IMHO- a joke about a subject that caused someone pain is never appropriate…

I had mine removed laprascopically at 15 (I had lost over 90 pounds b’h and that was my body’s reaction).

I had over 1000 stones that were heading towards the bile duct. Aside from a few tiny scars and general weakness for about a week-it was the smartest thing I did…don’t be scared ๐Ÿ™

I’ve been watching the YU purim shpiel for a few years now and a lot of their jokes are targeted at the faculty. At first I had the same reaction as you, but then I noticed President Joel sitting there in the front row laughing harder than anyone else…so perhaps they clear the script with the faculty first….?

Yeah, YU is likely going to be my choice. My friends at the CUNY graduate center are constantly complaining about missing class bec of Yomim Tovim…

My job would not be able to be counted towards my internship and therefore it looks like I will be a full time student bec I would rather finish school in 2 years as opposed to 3.
