In a couple of years (or in the next couple of months) you will look back and say I was scared for 8th grade??

Meanwhile, most of us in the CR are reading this post and thinking I don’t even remember 8th grade.. and thats her biggest worry 🙂 But yes on your level that is a concern that you are facing.

First of all calm down. Listen to some relaxing music or run for a quick jog. Then realize that is the boy’s job to start start the conversation and think of topics.Just don’t give him one word answers. For example if he asks, “what do you do”? Don’t answer secretary and sit there quietly. Try to make his job easier by bringing up your own interesting comments, ideas..etc. Just be yourself and calm down. Take deep breaths and try to enjoy yourself. Try to relax and look relaxed. The boy is also usually nervous and if you look relaxed he will also loosen up. Do you have any brothers who can give you a practice run through? Right before the date say some Tehillim and think calm thoughts.

    Have fun and good luck!

The following story occurred years ago when I was in Seminary.

We arrived back in seminary at midnight after a big trip. We went to Yam Hamelech, Ein Gedi etc.. Most of the girls went straight back into the dorm, while some girls stayed outside unpacking the busses. The busses were unpacked so they left. A bunch of girls stayed outside to schmooze.

Meanwhile a crowd gathered as there was no action on the little quiet street. They made everyone were still outside step back and asked them if they know whose bag it was. The girls ran inside the school yelling did anyone leave a bag outside?

I’m just curious how do you feel wearing it? does it make you feel pretty? or you are trying for a “look”?

I’m not trying to be mean just curious, because I dont think I have seen black nail polish on people.

I think the lighter the color, the nicer it looks. (that is my personal opinion and if you feel the darker the color the nicer it is so be it. But black nails??)

Rabbaim: I understand the point you are trying to make and its a nice one, but please give brotherofurs concrete examples of what he can do right now.

Brotherofurs: I sometimes feel like that..OK here are some examples.

    -Hobby ex:reading,

-Something that you wanted to do but never have a chance..

-Call up someone and get together with them.

-Do a Chessed or help a neighbor

-Go jogging (in the rain :)) or just go on the treadmill. Exercise makes you feel accomplished.

-Go to a Wedding if you feel like getting dressed and venturing into the rain..

-Or listen to some music and go to sleep early. So you are refreshed for tomorrow.

Whatever you do Enjoy! the night is almost over..

i love Coffe: I dont know where you live for example brooklyn driving is different than lakewoood. However, delaying driving will just make you more nervous. Here are some helpful tips.

Start SLOWLY. The first day of driving just practice on a dead end or quiet street. Just learn what each part of the car does.. Which one is gas and which one is the break. How to put on your blinkers, how to back up, how to use the mirrors..Do this for a couple of days, until you are comfortable sitting in the driver seat.Comfortable meaning you know how to start the car and drive without thinking which one is gas and break. You can still feel a drop nervous.DONT WORRY ITS NORMAL.

Then start driving local roads, but not the main busy streets. Here is where you will feel a drop apprehensive because you have to watch out for other cars and people crossing. Don’t worry just stay on the speed limit or drop under and you will be ok. If you see a car in your rearview mirror almost on your bumper let him cut you off, dont just speed because he is making you nervous. Also, you can be extra cautious for example stopping by yellow/red, so to make yourself comfortable with the roads.Doing this for like a week will make you feel better. You can still feel a DROP nervous but as long as you are practising you are doing fine.(also make sure your seat is high enough to see the road. I know someone who couldnt understand how come she kept ending up on the shoulder, the problem was her seat was too low and all she saw was a dashboard! So if you need sit on a phonebook:)

Then say to yourself now I’m ready for the busy roads. So its the same as the small roads! Dont worry. Just make sure to keep your eyes on the road and the car in front of you. You should be extra aware of your surroundings. For example if the car in front of you has his break lights on that means your foot should be resting gently on YOUR break.

I hope these tips help you..Good luck!

My take on this matter: Most men in the ages of 40-and up will have the background of the phone that it came with, or the other picture options it comes with like the beach.forest.etc..

Their ring tones are either on vibrate, or the default tone.

Women in that age range will have their family picture, or whatever their children set for them. Their ring tone will either be the old fashioned ring ring ring or some classic tune.

The younger the age bracket the more original backgrounds you get, with the newer tunes. Girls: background usually themselves with a friend, or a picture of a favorite niece or nephew.

If you think I’m wrong just take a look around.

But obviously there are EXCEPTIONS to every rule!
