No- you don’t have to find them attractive. However having said that, and considering the role they play in our lives, phrasing it the way you did, is very inappropriate!

    Ofcourse,

Forget about the owning part. But as an employee, yes ofcourse you need a doctorate.

    Re- F services,

Here s well you must have some sort qualifications. Good marketing is essential, and obviously product knowledge.

The threee basics are 40 per cent effort, 40 percent hard work and 20 per cent luck!

    Ofcourse,

    Your missing alot!

Pharmacutical Companies pay their employees very well!. If you own one or invest in one, your probably just as well off, if not more.

By health care providers, I dont just mean Doctors and Nurses.

    I mean research companies.

    Finally re-Financial services,

I mean advisors, investment brokers are still very much afloat.

When the economy is good, people like to take risks. When its bad, people like to look our for their future. Maybe the level of business is lower in difficult times, but its still goes.

I agree with Be Happy, this rings very little truth.

Firstly, I NEVER heard anyone complain about having too much money.

I am sure if you ask a shaila, YOU WILL GET A HETER TO BE ABLE TO GIVE MORE, if its gona cause you grief not to.

There was a case in Europe of someome who gave away 90 per cent of his earnings, without crying about it.

Trust me, if your business involved selling people a story like this, I doubt you would have accumulated such wealth.

The Posek Hador Rav Shmuel halevi Wosner is the PRIME example of Yichus Atzmo.

Born in Vienna to a more modern family, there was a very interesting story.

His mother was a very talented piano player or singer (not sure which). Anyways, she was offered a very prestigious position to perform in public.

The Minchas Eluzer, on a trip to Vienna at the time, told her that if she doesnt accept the job, she will have the zechus to have a son who will eventually be a Gadol Hador!!

    Re- Dovid Hamelech,

There was actually a joke made by a shadchan who wanted to red a shidduch from a simple family to well known people who stemmed from a famous , illustrious Rav of the 19th century .That rav had a yichus briev which traced back to Dovid Hamelech.

When the shadchan suggested the idea, the matriarch of the famous family snubbed it by saying that they would never take such commoners when their famous ancestor can trace back to King David.

The shadchan replied, ‘ Dovid Hamelech was a self made Yichus, he stemmed from Geirim, which means you do to!’

I posted something yesterday and for some reason it didnt go through.

Perhaps I didnt word it well.

Why can’t people accept that those who were brought up with a TV, are not more at risk to go off that those who were overly sheltered.

Many times, pressure will lead to a desparate struggle to find out whats going on in the outside world, and with devastating results.

Whereas, when there is a bit (not much but a bit) more freedom, young people dont feel so curious.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe once said, if someone goes around to collect without a shtar, or even if you suspect him of having money, its worth giving a person like that cos something is obviously wrong with him.

Remember, whatever the case, its always better to give than to have to take!

‘Yeshu mentioned in the gemara couldn’t possibly be oso ish the xtians are celebrating. Yeshu of the gemara was a talmid of yehoshua ben prachya (according to the gemara)’

What happened after Yeshu (Ben Prachia’s talmid) apparantly became upset when his Rav derpived him of some atention? It seems that he became hot-headed and turned the other cheek as a result of that.

How do you connect that incident with ‘Osoh Ish’? It would seem to be the same eprson.

    Derech Hamelech,

I once heard that one of the reasons men don’t learn on nittel is because then Yoshke’s neshomo comes down in form of an animal or something else, and if he hears divrei Torah he will get a zechus.

In any case, I fail to see how Hitler comes into the equation here.

You can say the same about any deceased who was a Rosho.

    With re to KEN ZAYN’s post about Rav Segal ZATZAL, I heard the following story;

One Rav came to visit another rav on nittle and saw that he was learning. He asked him why would he be learning tonite.

The Rav answered, “I would like to see the gehenom I get for learning Torah on Nitel.”

To which the first Rav replied, “I DON’T want to see the gehenom I get for not following the minhag of Tzaddikim like the Chasam Sofer and others who said not to learn.”

At that moment the Rav who was learning closed his sefer right away.

    A minhag breaks a din!

    Wolf:

“Based on that reasoning, should we also not learn on Adolf Hitler’s* birthday (19 Nissan)?”

How do you compare the two? Yoshke was a learned man. He was a Talmid of one of the the Amoroim (I think Ben Prachia- not sure)if he hears divrei Torah, he will get a zechus. We don’t want that.

Hitler was a simple goy. What would he benefit from hearing people learn?

    TMB,

    Re- Chasam Sofer,

    I once heard,

Another reason he gave was because in his time, goyim would chase after Jews on nittel nacht as we were held responsible for his death.

So he thought it was dangerous to go out to the beis medrash….

Also, some poskim hold that not learning doesn’t apply if nittel falls out on Friday night.

Nittel nacht is the 24th of December, Xmas eve.

Many people are makpid not to learn Torah at that specific time for varoious resons. I think the Chasam Sofer gives a reason.

    Does anyone know it?
