apushatayidParticipant
I was flipping through the magazine looking for the cover story. When I saw in big letters “5 reasons you are not married”, I thought I found the article. It took a little more reading to figure out it wasnt the article I was looking for. The juxtaposition of the ad and article is just too funny.
apushatayidParticipantMany, many every day products are gluten free. Many Chex cereals are gluten free, as are Fruity and Cocoa pebbles. 70% of Heinz products are gluten free. Any major supermarket has all sorts of products that are certified gluten free. If you live near boro park you should pay a visit to the gluten free shop on 16th ave or heavenly mills bakery on new utrecht. both have websites as well.
“Wheat is often used as a binder or in the coating on a pill.”
For this reason, stay away from all cold cuts until you check with the manufacturer. Of the Empire products we looked into, none used wheat (if it is kosher lipesach all year , they likely never use wheat, or any other grain that contains gluten). Other popular brands do.
apushatayidParticipantLife is full of compromises. He likes the color socks, you dont. Settle on flip flops without socks.
apushatayidParticipantSomeone has a sense of humor. The 4 page advertisement for the Amuka segula appeared in last weeks issue of AMI magazine, which had a cover story “The Shidduch Crisis” (which interviewed those behind the recent advertisements and kol korehs about close in age marriages, boys marrying younger etc…).
apushatayidParticipant“In some circles it is not acceptable for the men to be into their clothing”
In the nudist colony, perhaps.
January 16, 2013 7:58 pm at 7:58 pm in reply to: Tipping a delivery boy – Mandatory or Optional? #920341apushatayidParticipanttipping is not mandatory. menchlechkeit is.
apushatayidParticipantMake sure the meat isnt from ireland. their burgers are testing positive for horse dna.
apushatayidParticipantJanuary 2011 you didnt notice the 2% increase in your take home pay?
apushatayidParticipantPoster. How long are you in the work force earning a pay check, on the books that is?
January 15, 2013 3:21 am at 3:21 am in reply to: Encouraging a Food Manafacturer to Change Hechsheirim #1170788apushatayidParticipantIf a company felt it could make more money by becoming “more kosher”, they would do so in a heartbeat. They are in business to make money. Sometimes changing hechsherim is not as simple as signing a new contract, it may mean completely changing the manufacturing process, or replacing essential ingredients.
I dont think the naming of specific hechsherim was called for, or appropriate as it relates to the original question.
January 14, 2013 10:15 pm at 10:15 pm in reply to: Insanity!! Netura Karta Sicko Forces His Boys Into Frum Girls School in Antwerp #928885apushatayidParticipantI agree, nobody steal from friedmans store.
apushatayidParticipantThe payroll tax was 6.2%, lowered as part of an economic stimulus plan a number of years ago to 4.2%. It got extended several times. It did not get extended for 2013. In short, the tax holiday is over. Of course, if you are only paying this tax for a couple of years, you never knew it was higher to begin with. I think it was above 8% at one point.
January 10, 2013 4:22 pm at 4:22 pm in reply to: Insanity!! Netura Karta Sicko Forces His Boys Into Frum Girls School in Antwerp #928860apushatayidParticipant“We don’t have the right to decide if he is Chayav misa. Only the Beis Din in the Beis Hamikdash was allowed to.”
Did MP suggest killing him?
apushatayidParticipantshmoel. since you seem to know what I am talking about, and I dont know what I am talking about, perhaps you would like to explain to me what obligations a 17 year old couple has?
apushatayidParticipantIs there an issur kol isha as it relates to minnie mouse?
January 9, 2013 9:43 pm at 9:43 pm in reply to: Insanity!! Netura Karta Sicko Forces His Boys Into Frum Girls School in Antwerp #928853apushatayidParticipantLost: thanks for the update.
January 9, 2013 7:31 pm at 7:31 pm in reply to: Insanity!! Netura Karta Sicko Forces His Boys Into Frum Girls School in Antwerp #928849apushatayidParticipantCan anyone articulate the arguments for and against accepting these boys into the yeshiva? Health argues “they are jewish boys and deserve a jewish education”. The yeshiva clearly disagrees, have they articulated their opinion? If anyone knows it, would they share it? (Note: I am not “taking sides”, just asking if anyone knows both sides).
apushatayidParticipant“Witness who runs the diamond districts in New York and Europe. Witness B&H Photo, etc.”
Kein Yirbu. However, these are not arguments against what ZD was saying. Also look at the social services agencies that service these very same groups. Look at the number of families enrolled in all sorts of programs from snap to medicare.
“Chasidim do it very well. So can you.”
How “grown up” must a couple be if the only obligation they have is to make sure they come home to the right apartment every night.
apushatayidParticipantWIY. You completely missed my point, but I wont belabor it.
January 8, 2013 6:07 pm at 6:07 pm in reply to: Insanity!! Netura Karta Sicko Forces His Boys Into Frum Girls School in Antwerp #928838apushatayidParticipantThis just in.
Bnos Yerushalayim will be hosting their first avos ubanim program this motsai shabbos.
apushatayidParticipantthey should have rented the budwesier clydesdales.
January 7, 2013 8:16 pm at 8:16 pm in reply to: Insanity!! Netura Karta Sicko Forces His Boys Into Frum Girls School in Antwerp #928807apushatayidParticipantBack to the NK. I think if he wants his sons in the local beis yackov or whatever it is called and his girls in the local cheder, then they should accept them with open arms. As long as his boys wear the appropriate beis yackov uniform and the girls wear the appropriate cheder levush, all should be ok.
January 7, 2013 7:47 pm at 7:47 pm in reply to: Insanity!! Netura Karta Sicko Forces His Boys Into Frum Girls School in Antwerp #928804apushatayidParticipantDY. I was denied entry into a yeshiva (almost 30 years ago) because my father wore a straw hat to my farher. It is not a far fetched concept, and is certainly not unheard of. I wouldn’t say it is as common as he implies though.
January 7, 2013 7:43 pm at 7:43 pm in reply to: Do Goyim Have A Shidduch Crisis Due To An "Age Gap"? #918216apushatayidParticipantI dont read tabloids. The mainstream press (people, us, ok are not mainstream press), reported his marriage as if it was as normal as his changing his socks.
apushatayidParticipanta “yom tov” 4 days before and after the equinox has been around since adam harishon.
January 7, 2013 6:01 pm at 6:01 pm in reply to: Should a rebbi participate in a kumzitz with his talmidim? #917772apushatayidParticipantbetter a kumzits than a meeting with the parole board.
apushatayidParticipantThe line “uniform of hashems army” makes me barf almost as much as the line “attractive, not attracting”.
apushatayidParticipantI didnt see the purported kol koreh, but the proof is in the pudding. Of the signatories to the kol koreh, how many of the bachurim in their yeshivos have started dating earlier in the last 3 months (I dont know the answer to this question either).
January 7, 2013 5:55 pm at 5:55 pm in reply to: Do Goyim Have A Shidduch Crisis Due To An "Age Gap"? #918214apushatayidParticipantNobody bats an eye when a 78 year old man marries a 27 year old woman in the non jewish world.
January 7, 2013 5:54 pm at 5:54 pm in reply to: Insanity!! Netura Karta Sicko Forces His Boys Into Frum Girls School in Antwerp #928793apushatayidParticipantI say let them in, as long as they adhere to the dress code.
apushatayidParticipantsounds like a plan.
apushatayidParticipant“Has anyone tried to apply it to the pricing of yeshivas and seminaries and analyzed whether the halacha is being followed?”
This is from the more outrageous statements to appear on YWN in some time. If it wasnt so ignorant, it might be inflammatory.
apushatayidParticipant“menthol”
Turn off auto correct.
I think the application fee is more justifiable than the tuition some of these “sems” are charging.
January 3, 2013 7:45 pm at 7:45 pm in reply to: Where to buy organic apples for a decent price in Brooklyn? #917447apushatayidParticipantTo qualify as organic, according to the USDA – “crops must be produced without conventional pesticides (including herbicides), synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, bioengineering, or ionizing radiation.”
Yum.
apushatayidParticipant“A guy with a chup is not yeshivish.”
If one would pull together in one place all definitions of “yeshivish” that are found in the coffee room, I have a feeling that just about the only ones who would qualify as yeshivish, are penguins and morticians who shave their heads.
apushatayidParticipantThere are 8 banks on ave j between coney and east 16th and almost as many places to buy sushi. not sure that it proves anything other than this is where the retail space is for several avenues.
apushatayidParticipant“However, it should not be done on the public forum.”
I a world where anonymity reigns, there is no such thing as “public forum”.
apushatayidParticipantthis is too funny
apushatayidParticipantthe op seems to be describing football the way it is played in yeshiva playgrounds everywhere.
apushatayidParticipant“it started of with a handful of ppl and has grown a crazy amount because the word got out there in the homeless world of this great place to pitch a tent”
sounds like the “occupy movement”.
I wonder how the township committee members would feel if people pitched tents on the sidewalk in front of their home.
apushatayidParticipantI say we take up a collection to buy him a new bridge and a few billy goats gruff to keep him busy. Otherwise, he will keep himself busy here.
apushatayidParticipantwhat shelter?
December 31, 2012 9:50 pm at 9:50 pm in reply to: Support from girl's parents in non-Litvish circles #916622apushatayidParticipantIn that case, a tzadik like you shouldnt have problems with shidduchim for your children.
apushatayidParticipantround, or straight back?
apushatayidParticipantthose who live in caravans would probably best be described as migrants.
apushatayidParticipantthis is headed down the wrong slope. quickly.
December 31, 2012 8:42 pm at 8:42 pm in reply to: Support from girl's parents in non-Litvish circles #916619apushatayidParticipantforget the support issue. for someone learning in kollel for a long time, you sure spend a lot of time online. are you in the internet research division of your kollel? perhaps online recruiting?
apushatayidParticipantstill waiting on the adam sandler kwanza song. i always wanted to know who lights the kinora.
December 31, 2012 6:41 pm at 6:41 pm in reply to: Picking Up A Neighbor's Phone Calls on a Scanner #917146apushatayidParticipantwhy do people own scanners?
apushatayidParticipantAs long as they keep the pictures. Always important to know which gadol attended which simcha.
