☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant
The difference is that today’s popular Jewish music is derived from very unrefined secular music.
November 23, 2014 7:09 am at 7:09 am in reply to: Does you also have ads for coffee on the CR? #1043317☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes, and ads for CR x-ray machines.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAnd since Sam was successful at being popa, you are married to yourself, and refuse to give a get. Just saying.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantRight. Puter Avel Ooser has a much better ring to it.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBut in case you’re right, sorry about the pizza, and thanks for letting me finish your mushroom slice.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou’re assuming I was successful.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhat about your husband?
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThat doesn’t sound too pleasant. I’ll stick to trying to be like popa l’gabay pizza.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI wanted to be popa too.
Popa gets to do all kinds of fun things, like snowboarding, eating square pizza in the Midtown Manhattan section of New York State, doing beshows, sneaking out of them and maching heimish in the Brooklyn pizza shops.
But, I dunno even what snowboarding is (I assume there’s some snow involved, and maybe an executive committee).
So, I had my wife become chassidish, and we did a beshow together, and we snuck out, and we ate square pizza in a kosher pizza shop owned by genuine Italian Jews and run by a genuine Farsi Jew who machs good heimish, and I posted it on YWN and I tried to see what it feels like to be popa.
I’ll let you know when I figure it out.
And my wife didn’t particularly like the square pizza.
Maybe Mendelssohn’s next time.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSurely the Seridei Eish didn’t mean people who would ch”v mock the Torah because they have absorbed secular (in this case liberal) values.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantCall a toe truck.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantChicago
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSo it seems like youhavefinallygotitallworkedout.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantChavi, aren’t you doing the same thing?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhat difference does it make which shul she didn’t go to since Passaic isn’t a real place?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIvory, do you call this a normal conversation?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI know who edited, edited, edited, edited, edited, edited, edited, edited, and edited are.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDash points out that someone else may know who the poster you’re talking about is. I assume this is quite rare.
I do not assume this. Several posters have revealed that they are friends or relatives of other posters. We have no idea how many others might be as well, but haven’t revealed it. Also, some posters have revealed personal info which may make them identifiable.
From real life experience, I can tell you that many times, I’ve been told “anonymous” l”h but was able to figure out either at the time, or even months later, who the culprit was.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI don’t know what was edited out, but now is a time for all of us to try to mechazek ourselves and each other in emunah, and really, even if asked in sincerity, these types of questions should probably be asked at a less emotional time (and not in a public forum).
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIt’s not so surprising that they were distracted by the terrorists. The maaseh with Dovid Hamelech is a limud for how important and powerful limud Torah is, but cannot realistically be applied to us, who aren’t nearly on the same level.
What’s more important than this is introspection, to figure out how we can improve, each of us in the most appropriate way.
HY”D
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantExample?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNo comparison
There is a difference. WBC doesn’t have a troll on YWN.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantLol, ivory, I guess they’re “upstanding people” as well.
November 18, 2014 2:09 pm at 2:09 pm in reply to: How to answer questions regarding a shidduch #1042636☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantOomis, you’re not merely comparing two different generations, you’re also comparing two different cultures, and possibly different communities with different values (or at least prioritization of values).
To assume that an approach which may have been the best for a particular group in a particular era would also best serve a different group in a different era is too big of a stretch.

November 17, 2014 7:03 pm at 7:03 pm in reply to: bidding on ebay where listing ends on shabbos #1042439☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWrong thread, mercury?
I don’t think you can compare regular melachah to masa u’matan.

November 17, 2014 12:47 pm at 12:47 pm in reply to: How to answer questions regarding a shidduch #1042625☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantRandomex, I find that the people who want anonymity are the ones who ask ridiculous questions.
November 17, 2014 12:42 pm at 12:42 pm in reply to: How to answer questions regarding a shidduch #1042624☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantKapusta, I hadn’t seen that at the bottom of page 2, gefen pointed out that this woman lived in a different city. It seems to me, though, that gefen didn’t assume that her wardrobe style had changed much; she seemed certain of how she dressed, just not how to relate it. She said they don’t see each other often (in the context of being a potential bad influence) but “not often” doesn’t mean never.
It is possible to hide tznius issues, by dressing more conservatively on dates. It’s also not fair or wise to leave that issue for the boy to figure out on his own, it should be determined as best as possible before they meet.
Incidentally, my friend remembers when he was in a dirah in Eretz Yisroel, and a shidduch call came in to Reuven, asking about Shimon. Shimon was present and in the middle of a cigarette when Reuven motioned to him that he was just asked if he smokes. Shimon immediately put out his cigarette, and Reuven promptly answered, “He used to smoke, but he quit”.
November 17, 2014 2:11 am at 2:11 am in reply to: How to answer questions regarding a shidduch #1042618☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantKapusta, do you assume that avoiding the question is the proper thing to do?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe obligation to express hakaras hatov is not necessarily greater (at least according to some) than the obligation to avoid the problems I’m referring to.
I’m not trying to insinuate anything; I’m trying to help you understand that those who don’t express hakaras hatov in the way you think they should are not doing because they think, b’shittah, that it shouldn’t be done.
Let’s say I would explain to you what that shittah is (as has been done before on the CR, with unpleasant results), and you wouldn’t understand or agree. What would you conclude? That I’m lying and that it’s purely from bad middos? I’m simply asking you to accept that it’s not out of lack of hakaras hatov even if you don’t understand or agree with the reasoning.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantStanding up, sitting down, makes no difference.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou said, What actual damage do those clowns do other than looking like buffoons? , so I’m pointing out that they would be reshaim anyhow just for their sinas Yisroel, and that they do in fact cause actual damage, namely, chillul Hashem.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantReshaim are reshaim even if they’re not successful, but I dont get how you don’t seem bothered by the chillul Hashem they cause. Halevai the media wouldn’t cover them, but since they gleefully do, we need to point out that they are outcasts and do not represent our views.
November 16, 2014 4:15 pm at 4:15 pm in reply to: The freezer is toast!! Yasher koach NASI! #1133407☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMy latest theory is that your gadol in training is keeping you up at night and that you’re suffering from sleep deprivation.
Don’t worry, they usually outgrow it by the time they’re three.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIt is not debatable that embracing those who would ch”v do the unspeakable to us if given the chance does not bespeak an abundance of ahavas Yisroel. These reshaim (since you don’t like the terms “clowns” or “buffoons”) are complete outcasts from Satmar.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWould she have been just as excited if it was a girl? Or did she davka want a notashe?
November 16, 2014 2:23 pm at 2:23 pm in reply to: The freezer is toast!! Yasher koach NASI! #1133405☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSo, my latest theory is that this is all to encourage bochurim to stay in the U.S. in the yeshivos of those signed on top, and that popa is right that the BMG freezer is still running.
November 16, 2014 1:37 pm at 1:37 pm in reply to: The freezer is toast!! Yasher koach NASI! #1133404☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAccording to that theory, who sponsored the ad?

Excellent. 🙂
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThis may mean a little holiday for me from the coffee room. ..
Sorry, this is not a good excuse.
November 16, 2014 5:56 am at 5:56 am in reply to: The freezer is toast!! Yasher koach NASI! #1133402☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantKlopping on the bima doesn’t make it to Mishpacha magazine.
But yes, other than BMG, the whole thing seems irrelevant.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMazel Tov!
