Are you allowed to listen to accapela before pesach?
Another explanation which might not go so well here is that 7 is within the bounds of Teva as it represents a week which is teva while 8 is beyond the limits of teva, the miracle of chanukah was a miracle that was higher then nature which is represented by the 8th day.
I heard several explanations.
1. They put in a little oil each day and it still lasted even though it was an 8th of what they really needed
2. they didn’t even have enough for one day and the little they did not only lasted 1 day but also another 7.
3. Beating the yevonim is commemorated by the first day and the other 7 are in addition to that day (I don’t really understand this one)Of course we are missing something! what happened to good old latkes!

I find it hilarious that a bunch of zundels on the cr the rebbe is not considered a godol. Have you read his reshimus on nigleh? He was a genius when it came to gemerah and such, Talmidei chachamim came to the Rebbe to ask shailos they had on pshat of a gemerah. The rebbe never showed off his genius as other individuals have. There is a story that at the rebbes chasona, rebeim from all sects and big gedoilim came to the wedding. They mainly came for the kalahs side as it was from a rabbinical dynasty. When the previous rebbe told certain gedoilim to talk torah with the rebbe they where blown away. When they came back from telling the previouse rebbe what a great son in law he has, to discuss more torah, the rebbe said that he was told to discuss with him torah by his father-in-law but now that he left and came back he wasnt instructed to discuss torah and he didnt want to because of his humility.

i can attest that litvishe bochuim have come up to me and mocked the Rebbe in disgusting ways that they would never say about other gedoilim or even poshiter yidden.

Avira Chabad has enough politics and fights and they don’t see a point in having more. the rambam says that if someone’s not going to listen to you, your not meant to tell them off.

we have nothing against other gedoilim (not including…) but we do tend to know about our personal Rebbes because they are our rebbes. There are enough non lubavitchers to know about other gedoilim. i do think its important to educate ones children on other gedoilim but i do think its more important for LUBAVITCHER children to be educated more on their rebbes mainly because of the ideology of chabad and their understanding of a godol.
