I would be shocked beyond words if I saw our Rav playing golf, but that doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong with it.

Now that the Agudah; OU; RCA have strongly condemned these behaviors; it will be interesting to see which Israeli chareidi organizations join this group.

I’d have a big problem if it were in a Tanach class.

No one wakes up one morning and starts to and lob spittle at children. This behavior is learned and taught by the likes of mmd and Health who have in fact shown us that they are part of a sick and disgusting group of individuals who will pay a heavy price for the chillel Hashem which they fomented. It is assur to give musser unless you how to give it and the halachos involved. This is no Pinchas situation. Bais Din; parents; a Rebbe are authorized to exact punishment; not any self-appointed pervert.

Why did Eisav go off the derech. Guess what? No reason; that’s the way he was born. People are born with different personalities, character traits, and degrees of yetzer hara strengths; and the ability to overcome their yetzer hara.

Es Chataei Ani Mazkir Hayom. Seeing is believing. I went on-line to assess the Zumba exercise class and determined that it is clearly no different than any other vigorous exercise. Naturally, in a frum environment, you would not have men in the class; but you can say that about any exercise class. I have seen far worse moves by young yeshiva fellows in men’s circles at weddings. In fact, I would say that many of the Yeshiva Boys Chior movements comes right out of Zumba. I only wish that I had the koach for such leibedekeh exercise. So let’s find some real znius issues to expend our energies.

    “how about potatoes?”

You can’t use potatoes or other food. Wood and glass are also not first preferences. Also, clay pottery needs to be new for each lighting and glass must be clean for every lightning. Ner Chanukah should be lit using an esthetically pleasing menorah, preferably of metal.

I am a male. The emergency room is not a fun place and you would rather be in your own bed when the stone is passing. Everyone has different thresholds of pain, but be prepared. Have your doctor prescribe powerful pain medication (i.e.;vicodine)for the eventual and painful stone passing event. During the “passing”, take the medication as prescribed, get into bed, and keep drinking lots of water. You will be ok. The actual last moments of the passing out of the stone is not painful, just its trip from the kidney.

    FROM WIKIPEDIA:

Centrality of Torah – Despite its simultaneous acceptance of both Torah and secular knowledge and culture, Torah Umadda, as a philosophy, prioritises a Torah outlook and knowledge, and in its practice, requires strict adherence to Halakha.

Thus, as far as a secular knowledge, Torah Umadda demands “unquestioned allegiance to the primacy of Torah, and that the apprehension of all other intellectual disciplines must be rooted and viewed through the prism of Torah.”[4] [5]

Similarly, as regards observance of Jewish law: “Not a single fundamental of Judaism has been disturbed by us, we adhere to the same ikkarim (principles of faith), we are loyal to the same Torah, we strive for the same study of Torah and observance of mitzvot that our parents and grandparents before us cherished throughout the generations.” (Norman Lamm, Some Comments on Centrist Orthodoxy.)”

in reply to: Schnoring at weddings #831229

It’s one thing to have a table for aniyim at a chasunah but it’s something else when many chasunah invaders disturb the chuppa and are very aggressive with their shnorring. In addition, at the meal, they sit in seats reserved for guests. Women are not aware of this annoyance since they are spared schnorring in their section.

When I make a chasunah, I leave several hundred dollars with the hall manager to distribute to schnorrers to avoid having my guests subjected to this unwanted behavior. I don’t invite friends and relatives to my simcha to get solicited.

To all of you who are pro-shnorring at simchas: How about allowing them to invade your home when you make a vort or birthday party and have them mingle with your guests and work the crowd. How about shnorring at a shiva house; who would deny a shnorrer there? And set up some seats for shnorrers at your dining room or simcha hall the next time you have a parlor meeting or bris or bar mitzvah seudah, let’s all enjoy.

Give tzadaka, but there are times and places when it is not appropriate.

Working on it – What makes you think that it will be any better with a different wife? Just try to make her happy because that’s what counts the most and make the best of your circumstances; I have seen a lot worse. Many women stay home and raise their kids so you should be thankful for any money that your wife earns. Show your appreciation rather than complaining.

“But seriously, can she answer if the Avodah was done with someone in the Heichal, does it have to be redone or not?”

But seriously, how many yeshiva bochrim can answer this question? To answer this question, you need to ask a working stiff balabos who learns daf yomi every day.

My working/learning son-in-law asks his Propect Park Yeshiva wife to paskin his shailos, and she is always right on target.
