So it seems that Rav Moshe and Rav Aharon may indeed hold of the s’vara of chemical transformation, but assir the gelatin from a non kosher animal for a different reason.

The posek who was matir gelatin made from pig’s bones was Rav Chaim Ozer Grodzinski. Have you heard of him?

Sorry to disappoint you, but I’m no posek.

Many poskim are of the opinion that if the Jew is a m’challel Shabbos, he will be driving somewhere regardless,i.e., to get gas or to the movies or shopping, and you are not the cause of his chillul Shabbos by inviting him for a Shabbos meal.

“If you are shomer Shabat and you have a kosher home, you are part of the Orthodox community”

The requirement to be a practicing Shomer Shabat is not the Federation criteria of the Orthodox label let alone Chareidi. Accordingly, the numbers are much lower, especially out of New York City when using standard daati definitions.

There are various halachic opinions whether one could/should invite a non-frum person for a Shabbos meal and also how to go about doing it.

But even a frum physician has a heter to drive home on Shabbos if by doing so it may get him to his patients quicker and thus save a human (maybe a Yid) life.

All proofs from past poskim concerning non-kosher soap is not valid bizman hazeh , because even if there were a non-kosher fat in the soap, in our times the process entails a chemical transformation that renders (excuse the pun) the soap a non-fat entity.

There are similar items and foods used today that start out with a non-kosher ingredient but the chemical transformation allows it for kosher use.

It’s all baba meisa, no hashgacha needed for soap or sponges. But once you have hashgacha for one brand, it creates the status quo.

I’ve lived OOT and also a resident of Brooklyn. There is no less rudeness OOT than in Brooklyn. Interesting, I find OOT’ers to be far more nosy than those living in Brooklyn and much more lason hara is spoken by OOT’ers than those living in Brooklyn. People who live in Brooklyn tend to mind their own business.

Yes, but it’s still interesting that Moshe was made Kohen Gadol after Matan Torah, while married to a geyores . Also of note are the other Jewish leaders throughout our history who were married to a geyores.

I don’t think it’s the Rav per se that makes for a better marriage. People possessing character qualities that desire and welcome a Rav into their lives, and heed his words unconditionally, are the same that define candidates for a good marriage.

Moshe Rabeinu married Tzipora, a geyores. It’s interesting to note that after his marriage to Tzipora, Hashem offered Moshe the position of Kohen Gadol and indeed Moshe initially acted as Kohen Gadol until the position was transferred to his brother Aharon.

The politicians probably have a pretty fare idea of borough demography, but you’re not going to get anywhere near 100,000. I bet Marvin Schick could make a good estimate. How many Lubavichers do you think are in Crown Heights?

This entire thread is nonsense since no one has ever come back to tell us what it’s like in Shamayim concerning spousal relationships. No one is taking a stroll together or having a picnic in Shamayim; it’s an entirely different dimension of which we have no concept of.

Same thing goes for T’chiyas Hameisim. The g’mara may speculate on some issues, but we don’t know how it will conform to our existence today.

Moshiach is another story, nothing will change except that the goyim will recognize that Hashem is the true one and everything that results from this belief; and we’ll have a lot of answers to our questions.

Even using the most liberal criteria, there are a lot less Orthodox than is claimed. For that matter, there are a lot less Jews overall than claimed.

Syrians do not accept geirim, but in practice, they don’t accept Ashkanazim either. This behavior has resulted with the consequences of genetic inbreeding within their community.

As the gemara states, when takanos are issued, the Rabbonim wait to see if they can be adhered to by k’lall yisroel. It is very difficult for k’lall yisroel to change their character all at once, nor does chazal expect them to, since as the mussser s’farim advise us, change doesn’t work unless it takes place a little at a time.

Once the takanos have evolved and have been accepted and followed, they become part of the minhagim which bring us closer to Hashem. However, while the takanos may be too difficult to follow at first, the message is not lost by frum Yiden.

    And, cats stink.

Glue traps are only good while the glue is still very sticky, which is not very long. And with poison, the mice get immune to the poison and start to eat it for snack.

The best way I find to get rid of mice is using the old fashioned mouse trap. Carefully, bait a bunch of traps and put them all on a large size tray or the like, and put the tray on the floor and against a wall in an area which cannot be reached by anyone; like behind the couch.

Check it a few days later and count your catch.
