☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant
A friend helped me (google). We found this also:

☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantLearn mussar.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI wouldn’t extrapolate, though, an entire system based on a few cases in the Gemara.
Primarily, I wanted to answer PBA’s question about how manipulating the market does anything but change who gets the product. The answer is that by “manipulating” the halacha (within acceptable boundaries, obviously), they were able to reduce demand. The threat of doing so was effective at preventing price gauging (so they did actually force the price down).
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHaLeiVi, R’ Reueven’s approach is indeed considered the mainstream “yeshivish” approach.
Gavra, the basic approach to how to view those “to the right” of us, who completely disassociate themselves, can be found on the bottom of page 17.
You’ll enjoy the top of the page as well, where you might be tempted to invoke Godwin’s law.
I think what he writes (page 35) about Neturai Karta (of those days, not today’s loonies who stole the name) applies to Satmar/Eidah today.
Page 21 is very instructive as to why we believe that Lapid and his chevra do not in any way have the b’nei Torah’s best interest at heart.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantStart with:
?????? ?? ?????? ???? ?????
I haven’t finished the sefer yet, but I think I’ve got a pretty good handle on the overall hashkafah.
When I get a chance I’ll try to get you a more specific reference.

☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantGavra, or paskening l’kula on hadassim.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNishtdayngesheft, I don’t think oomis was referring to a passul or questionable eiruv.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantGavra, did you ever read ????? ????? R’ Reuven explains the difference in approach between the Agudah and Neturai Karta. I think it’s quite relevant to where this discussion has gone.

☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHakatan, you are, I think, misrepresenting GAW’s view. He did say that anti-Zionism is not an inherently bad thing. That doesn’t sound like something a Zionist would say.
You might want to rephrase your assessment of the Satan’s achievement, and instead say, “This A”Z of Zionism is so offensive that even those who don’t worship this A”Z refer to people who fight the A”Z as ovdei avoda zara. What an achievement by the Satan!”.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe things you miss out on when you live on less, in order to focus on ruchniyus, are tangible. What you gain is not tangible, but is worth much more.

January 13, 2014 8:27 pm at 8:27 pm in reply to: Always back up your phone sd card to a a hard drive or cloud storage! #998414☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDoes the phone say that any memory is being used up?
The reason I ask is because I once had an SD card from a camera which showed the pictures on the camera, but not on a PC (although the PC did recognize that there was a card and that memory was used, it didn’t recognize the files).
I was able to recover some of the pictures by uploading the folder to Google Drive. If you have an Android, and the phone at least shows the card, you should try to see if it can be uploaded.
Doesn’t sound like it’ll work, though. 🙁
I assume you already tried cleaning the contact point.
There is downloadable software, such as CardRecovery, which is supposed to help, but I’ve never tried it.
Hatzlocha.
January 13, 2014 6:59 pm at 6:59 pm in reply to: Always back up your phone sd card to a a hard drive or cloud storage! #998410☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIt doesn’t recognize the card at all, or just the files?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI never liked Col. Mustard. He always came across as a seedy guy.
So the plot thickens…
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNo, ketchup threads are not on trial, ketchup is.
Lycopene deficiency can affect both memory and acute reasoning skills.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantZD, your mistake is the assumption you made that the question was asked about the Kindle Fire. You are correct that that particular model, as well as the Nook HD, use LCD screens like those of ordinary tablets.
However, the question was asked about the Nook Nuki, which uses e-ink, and Barnes and Nobles still sells Nooks with e-ink, and Amazon sells a Kindle with e-ink; I assume the shaila was about these as well.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou forgot (probably due to lycopene deficiency):
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantKetchup should be deleted.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThat’s correct, RebYidd.
ZD, they say R’ Elyasiv indeed assered all screens, but it seems that R’ Shlomo Zalman Aurbach paskened that it’s muttar, and his psak was widely accepted. That’s why ordinary tablets and smartphones don’t have this issue, but e-readers do.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMy research indicates that the shailah was asked (about the Kindle) with the inventor presenting the metzius, to two of the biggest poskim, who both said it’s assur. I don’t know if the Nuki uses the same “e-ink”.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWIY, you’re correct. That’s what happens when I don’t get my Shabbos nap.
29, I asked you not to arbitrarily delete my posts. Let’s see how that works out.
Ketchup is deleted (this is a test).
January 12, 2014 2:18 pm at 2:18 pm in reply to: Shidduchim – NASI's escrow program has run its course #998141☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWIY, NASI does claim success in their community program. More importantly, I think, but unmeasurable, is the success they’ve had in changing the attitude about closer in age shidduchim. I, and many people I know, have observed that fewer boys consider it a stigma to marry a girl older than them.
I don’t think anyone can’t consider that a good thing.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI hope the prosecutor isn’t Charles Hines.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantKetchuptown is actually the 57th largest city in SC.
January 12, 2014 5:06 am at 5:06 am in reply to: Shidduchim – NASI's escrow program has run its course #998136☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou missed where AZ said another 17 got married without the program. So you probably do know a lot less than those girls.
January 12, 2014 5:03 am at 5:03 am in reply to: Shidduchim – NASI's escrow program has run its course #998134☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWe don’t know how many were closer to 22 and how many were closer to 35.
But as I said, had the program been wildly successful, it wouldn’t make sense to close it, so you’re probably right anyway.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI’m dizzy.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSo, it turns out that Torah613 works for NASI, and her job, apparently, is to do whatever it takes to get them more publicity.
January 12, 2014 1:19 am at 1:19 am in reply to: Shidduchim – NASI's escrow program has run its course #998130☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou would have to a control, with 125 girls of the same ages, to be unimpressed.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBan people who hate people who hate ketchup!
Really, 613,I didn’t think you were the hating people type.
January 12, 2014 12:24 am at 12:24 am in reply to: Shidduchim – NASI's escrow program has run its course #998128☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantActually, what AZ said was impressive was the number of dates, 225, and the numbers he gave were 125 older singles, 22 married. You still need controls to know if that’s more than avg.
I suspect that if it was, the program would have continued.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantOomis makes it in a skver pan.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThis Poppa bar Abba appears to be atypical
Yes, definitely atypical.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThey want the rabbanut to have lower standards than the RCA?
I’ll be dan l’kaf z’chus. The same would also be okay.
(FTR, I will reiterate what I wrote earlier in the thread – I am in no way demeaning any individual talmidei chachomim in the RCA, just questioning some policies and statements of the organization, which they don’t necessarily control.)
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantB”H he’s safe. At this point, I think it becomes a private matter between him and his family.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhats in a name, then you and I are not saying the same thing.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBecause by rejecting an RCA member’s eidus, the Rabbanut is maintaining higher standards than the RCA.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThanks, Oomis.
