mikehall12382Memberjust a joke…but still waiting for a subtitle
mikehall12382Memberjust curious where are you from
mikehall12382Membermommamia22…everything happens for a reason and even when it is bad is done from love from hashem. That is the basis of Emunah… Nothing is insignificant…When something happens, especially negative it is important to examine why it happened and figure out how we can improve ourselves…The book The Garden of Emunah, talks about this ….I was just paraphrasing..sorry if I offended….but your right I shouldn’t even be commenting here as I have no business discussing shaitels, since I really have no clue….sorry again….you are 100% right…I was just trying to make you look at the possitive as to why it happened, and not the fact that it gout ruined
mikehall12382Membercall me frum…from what you wrote it sounds like Her parents called it off, not your Son…If her parents don’t want their daughter to be married with a full time learner, then why did it take 10 dates to figure this out?
Secondly, was there a connection between your son and the girl? If yes, then like others they can make it work without financial support from the in-laws…it is possible to work and learn at the same time…
mikehall12382Membercheck Aish, they have trips/learning tailored for married women…I believe Lori Palatnik is an organizer. she is an excellent author and lecturer.

August 22, 2011 2:57 pm at 2:57 pm in reply to: Missionary church in town of South Fallsburg! #800438mikehall12382Memberthere are synagogues (actually churches) that call themselves messianic Jews the “Rabbis” wear tallis, have beards etc…The wives are called rebetzins and they prey on the assimilated Jew who knows nothing about Judaism…Just search and you’ll see a ton pop up….it’s deception at it’s worse…
mikehall12382MemberI could never figure out why people would spend 3K on a shaitel, that looks better than their own natural hair…Maybe someone is sending you a message…maybe there is a reason it got damaged…nothing is just a coincidence….

mikehall12382MemberIn one of his shuirs, rabbi Wallerstein is very against all Disney movies … so the excuse that old movies are ok is not valid. Also Mary poppins has mix gender dancing…. for the record I am not against movies, past or present… Instead of claiming they are all assur, it is more appropriate to say some are OK, while those films with inappropriate scenes are assur… It’s not fair to throw out the baby with the bath water
mikehall12382MemberLoves being Jewish, are you aware that Mary Poppins is both a movie and goyish book series….I don’t mind a good mussar speech, but your tag line under your name makes me think your post is a joke….And If you claim u never saw the film Mary poppins, just love the books that won’t fly… For those against movies are usually also against secular books…
mikehall12382MemberA shot of whisky….
mikehall12382MemberIts normal, why not travel and spend more time with your new family…maybe you can be hosted by a neighbor and spend a shabbos with them
mikehall12382MemberNo , it makes u a smart consumer with great taste…the Jewish brands are OK, but you really can’t compare them. Pringles are awsome and who doesn’t like Oreos…

August 16, 2011 12:18 pm at 12:18 pm in reply to: How do you know you're in school for the right profession? #797960mikehall12382MemberIf they are old enough to get married and have kids, they are old enough to start college and choose a career path at 18…in the secular world it common to switch majors until you find the right one. College is seen as an important part of growing up, not a necessary evil to get done and out ASAP…So there is more pressure on frum to choose early and get out…
mikehall12382MemberOnline degrees aren’t worth anything…I can’t speak for all, but I don’t know of many companies that take them too seriously
mikehall12382MemberI was just going to say take an Ativan…. Sometimes they give you headphones to listen to music or talk radio…

mikehall12382MemberNot sure about fads, but I don’t like wearing ties and usually don’t…
mikehall12382MemberStamper…nevermind, whats the point…You seem to know it all and have all the answers. No point in discussing it…

mikehall12382MemberI beleive Rabbi Hillel said it best…”What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor. That is the whole Torah; the rest is the explanation of this–go and study it!”…..

August 11, 2011 8:16 pm at 8:16 pm in reply to: The Great Debate: Ultra-Orthodoxy vs. Modern Orthodoxy #798563mikehall12382MemberLomed Mkol Adam….Because I don’t speak for the MO community…nor Do I necessarily fall into it as well…I sprinkle a little bit from everyone….I guess I’m kind of like a salad…
mikehall12382Memberkollel_wife…your post is based on a few people you know and while you don’t say it directly, sounds like a generalization of the MO world….I’m sorry if I offended you, but that is the “vibe” I got from your post….
August 11, 2011 7:29 pm at 7:29 pm in reply to: The Great Debate: Ultra-Orthodoxy vs. Modern Orthodoxy #798554mikehall12382MemberAugust 11, 2011 6:07 pm at 6:07 pm in reply to: The Great Debate: Ultra-Orthodoxy vs. Modern Orthodoxy #798534mikehall12382MemberI love it how this thread is suppose to be kicking off a debate, yet no actual debate has taken place…instead a lot of bikering and personal opinions…reading it, has provided great entertainment on an otherwise dull working day….
mikehall12382Memberkollel_wife…thanks for the sweeping generalization…
August 11, 2011 4:45 pm at 4:45 pm in reply to: The Great Debate: Ultra-Orthodoxy vs. Modern Orthodoxy #798522mikehall12382Membermsseeker…Lomed Mkol Adam is not even willing to define His Charedi outlook, and he is one of the debators…this is never going to happen….
August 11, 2011 3:48 pm at 3:48 pm in reply to: The Great Debate: Ultra-Orthodoxy vs. Modern Orthodoxy #798511mikehall12382MemberLomed Mkol Adam…Which Charedi community? The one that sees the Internet as assur or the one that doesn’t?….not so simple to define….
mikehall12382MemberIf you already have experience, then why do you need to go to college? Sounds like you can by pass that step?
mikehall12382Member“If you go to Amazon and read the reviews, there were quite a few people who said they became more religious after reading the book.”
Are you trying to say if this debate takes place and the UO comes out as victorious, it may make MO people more religious?
Just curious what you meant? Becasue it kind of sounds you are putting Reform and MO in the same box…
mikehall12382MemberThen it is decided…Wolf will represent UO 😉
Lomed, if no one selected you, you can’t just start the debate with you representing UO…maybe there is a reason your name was not mentioned….
OK, here is the second question (see several posts above for the first question)
Was the Rambam MO, since he had a very secular job as the Sultans DR.?
Did I mention how silly this thread is?
Discuss…….
