What qualities make a boy better…

A book by rabbi twersky was banned? I had no idea, how sad. He is an amazing brilliant man who has helped many…

in reply to: yeshiva guy back-up degree #806796

    yungerman1…Thank You for your explanation.

So, to some it up most MO Rabbis are not familiar with all parts of the Shulchan Aruch, thus must rely on what he learnt in secular studies to give advise and guide his congregants…

Thank you again,l i wasn’t aware that this is how MO Rabbis operate.

in reply to: yeshiva guy back-up degree #806792

adorable…Instead of saying you understand why I don’t understand, can you please explain it to me?

Moderator-80…Why do you say only MO rabbis need courses in Psycology etc. to deal with their congregants? Don’t people from Haredi backgrounds need their Rabbi to help them with their problems as well?

I don’t understand why it’s good for one group and not the other??

in reply to: Unemployment in lakewood #807791

I would also suggest trying to do something on your own, while you look for work…When I was out of work I’d sell things on Ebay and Craigslist…Of course, finding the “stuff” to sell isn’t easy…

in reply to: "Wearing Perfume" #814248

what about shampoo, some of them have very strong scents as well, or deodorant, or….where do we draw the line?

in reply to: "Wearing Perfume" #814233

Is there an issue with wearing a “scent” that is marketed towards both genders like Calven Klein One? Since the scent is designed to be gender neutral?

in reply to: I want to be the most perfect wife be'esras hashem bekorov! #806426

There is no such thing as perfect…we all have our shortcommings. Just try to be the vest you can be

in reply to: why do girl/boys blush at the opposite gender? #806174

Firstly, blushing is an involuntary reaction, you have no control over it much like reflexes, blinking, or sneezing or the hiccups…

On top of that the first time boys and girls interact is on a shidduch date…how can they not blush from nervousness….

So NO, it is absolutly not Immature to do so….

in reply to: Vacationing Separately #806075

When my sons are a bit older, I’d like to take them on a road trip…just the boys…I think my wife would be happy to get a couple of nights on her own….

Last winter my wife stayed on for an extra week in Miami with the kids, she stayed with her parents…I came home alone…It was weird to be home alone, but I never slept better…

in reply to: College Professor Mocking Yiddishkeit/ Torah #805168

Obaminator…I don’t think the issue is college…It’s more of where you go to college….You won’t here this talk at YU, Stern, etc.

in reply to: Vacationing Separately #806073

If you figure out how to do it without getting the silent treatment for the rest of your marriage, let me know…

    The Goq…very funny

in reply to: Blatantly Staring #805009

I don’t blame the children, the adults are just as bad…I was once in Boro Park for a Bar Mitzvah…I felt the stares on the back of my neck…I think the kids were confused as to why a “Goyish Family” was wearing kippas and Tzizus…. 🙂

They have no clues that there are Jews who are religious, but don’t necessarily wear black pants, white shirts, and hats…

To them, if we don’t fit the Mold, we are goyim…sad but true…

I’ve davened at tother shuls here at home that are outside “my element” for one reason or other…always felt welcomed and no stares….I think the staring is a New York thing

in reply to: Not canceled #805083

if the children are happy and beleive they have found their partner, then the parents should back off…They are married and nothing could change that.

in reply to: Life Insurance; A chiyuv, or a lack of Bitachon? #804650

Having an insurance policy is not a lack of Bitachon…

It’s like saying I can cross the busy street with my eyes closed and nothing will happen to me because I trust in Hashem…

in reply to: Life Insurance; A chiyuv, or a lack of Bitachon? #804619

I have an insurance policy…G-d forbid something should happen, I know my family will be taken care of.

Well, if thats the case can we openly point out some of the confirmed child molestors in the Frum Community?…Becasue I’d love to name names to protect our children.

in reply to: He has a past, and she doesnt know. Or the other way around. #804888

well…I guess in order to comment properly we should at least know what the is person is/was involved with..

in reply to: He has a past, and she doesnt know. Or the other way around. #804876

If it’s in the past, and he has changed, then there is no point to discuss it…With teshuva done out of love for Hashem, Averas can be turned into Mitzvahs….

However, if the past, is also the present…then the Kallah has every right to know.

in reply to: He has a past, and she doesnt know. Or the other way around. #804848

Maybe he did Teshuva, at least that should be the assumption….

in reply to: There is an issue that really bothers me…. #802822

“He just posted about how scared he was to go on his date then this thread complains about how she was dressed. Yet on a third thread he says he has had 4 dates with a “non-American”. How much longer does he expect us to swallow his stories – and they seem to be pure fiction.

Okay, MPC (oops, or is it Joseph again) – the time has come to fess up.”

    EXACTLY!

in reply to: Teshuva for Retzicha #802123

I would imagine that in oreer for Teshuva to be reached, they must get forgiveness from those the murder affected like parents, spouce, kids etc…not sure if that is possible

in reply to: Why Is The World So Against Israel?? #861592

It didn’t hurt the Prime Minister, last election this past May he won a solid majority in the House of Commons…as for what Canadians think..I’d say similar attitude as Americans. Some don’t care, some are very anti Israel, and some support it…but I would say those that don’t care and are anti make up a strong majority.

in reply to: Why Is The World So Against Israel?? #861587

The only country that I know of, that stands 110% with Israel in recent history is Canada and it’s Prime Minister Steven Harper…

here is a quote taken directly from the Prime Minister

“Unfortunately, Israel at 60 remains a country under threat – threatened by those groups and regimes who deny to this day its right to exist … And why? Make no mistake, look beyond the thinly veiled rationalizations: Because they hate Israel, just as they hate the Jewish people.”

Prime Minister Stephen Harper says he is prepared to suffer any political backlash that comes his way for speaking out against anti-Israel rhetoric.

Harper told an audience Monday that while Israel is receptive to fair criticism, Canada is obligated to stand up for its ally when it comes under attack from others.

TOO bad the US doesnt have a leader like this………….

in reply to: off the derech #801703

The way we treat people is the way HAshem will treat us on 120 yrs, if we show compassion and love, if we try to help and show mercy… HAshem will do the same for us… As perfect as we think we are, when every minute of our lives are being reviewed, there will be no place to hide…”up there” the prosecutors don’t miss a thing, even our thoughts….you better pray for a compassionate and loving judge….if you throw somebody out, who otherwise shows potential and can be helped… then when your averias are brought to light, you may get thrown out as well, or much worse…something to keep in mind..

And for the record this does not mean that every averia someone does should be blown aside, physical abuse, murder, molestation etc. Needs and should be dealt with harshly… But even with that, there is still proper procedures and punishments….

I’m sorry, but throwing a kid even at 17 who knows he is struggling and has a desire to learn doesn’t seem the proper way to deal with him

in reply to: off the derech #801687

I agree with you, throwing you out is not the way to go and as you said can have an even greater negative effect… As they say you cath mote bees with honey than vinegar…you should have been dealt with patience and love… BH many rabbonim know how to deal with kids… I would spend some time looking for one…as we approach Elul now better than ever… I would suggest getting in touch with rabbi Wallerstein
