Mashiach isn’t a concept. He will be a living human being. A direct descendant of Dovid Hamelech who was a direct descendant of Yehuda the son of Yaakov Avinu as clearly enumerated in the final pesukim of Megilas Rus. A person can have lots of middos in common with Yehuda but if he isn’t a direct paternal descendant he isn’t of Shevet Yehuda.

@rescue The shevatim don’t represent the months. They aren’t constellations. They were actual live people. All non convert Jews are directly descended from one of the 12 sons of Yaakov Avinu.

AI doesnt know how to distinguish between chassidish and yeshivish. Its a classic milsa davida legluyei. He was born a litvak. Lived his life as a litvak. Did what he did as a litvak. Its said that he did teshuva. AFAIK hes no longer among the living. I dont know where you were when the scandal came out but everybody knew his name, where he belonged, where he davened, and where he said a daf yomi shiur.

That *might* have been commendable if they actually wanted to support Torah. They have very different ideas about what their taxes should be funding.

Youre the one who seems to have implied that because I said that the mekor of Choshen Mishpat is the sugyos of Seder Nezikin, therefore those learning the sugya should be able to answer halachic shaalos.

Learning the sugya is the beginning. The svaros of Abaye and Rava sharpen the minds of those who learn them. Nobody will get semicha from just Tur and Shulchan Aruch.

I dont advocate cheating on taxes or claiming benefits and government programs that one isnt entitled to. I certainly hope that my rabbanim arent permitting that. I was raised by upstanding parents.

Learning a sugya and knowing it well doesnt give the biggest talmid chochom the authority to answer shailos. Thats what an actual Rov is for.

All these things that you talk about regarding halachos of driving and cars belong to middos. Some people have good middos without being talmidei chachomim and some talmidei chachomim may be sorely lacking in middos.

We dont ask our Halachic questions of random talmidei chachamim. We ask them of Rabbis who have semicha. Not all musmachim have semicha in choshen mishpat. Those who do have semicha in choshen mishpat started with the sugyos of Seder nezikin.

You do NOT respect Rabbis. You inserted yourself into a halachic discussion with leitzanus before knowing any actual opinions. You see the Rabbis as inherently flawed which makes you an am haaretz. Thats nothing to be proud of.

Car damages arent more difficult than bull fighting. The basis for nezikin is the beginning of Bava Kama. The halachos are derived from the bull fighting. Sifrei SHUT are all applying bull fighting into modern day situations.

Yud Tes Kisleiv was celebrated by Chabad before the current Rebbes grandfather was born.

Shulchan Aruch Harav doesnt belong exclusively to Chabad. Its no less valid than the Chayei Adam (which may or may not have predated it and if yes not by much) and the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch. Shulchan Aruch Harav is mentioned in the Mishna Berurah, referred to as Shulchan Aruch HaGRaZ.

There are jobs that you dont have to work until 5PM on Fridays during the winter. There are thousands of people working for goyim that are in Shul for mincha erev Shabbos no matter how early shkiya is. If you work for a business that wont let you out early enough maybe thats not the place you should be working.

It begs the question why moderators are unpaid. In my honest opinion comments should be immediately posted with registered users having a report button that would alert moderators to possible issues that could bring penalties for both commenters and when warranted abusive reporters. Ivelt has an amazing system that has worked for years.

    Another problem with Satmar is:

They do not live in Olam HaZeh; they live in their
own little world, that excludes everyone except them.

If you indeed live in Olam HaZeh as you claim you are susceptible to Olam HaZeh problems such as illness (lo aleinu). As such you or a family member can need hospitalization. You are certainly welcome to turn down the delicious home made meals.

In a Secular Marriage aka Civil Union the wife is halachically a penuya which results in non mamzeirim. When they are forced into a Halachic marriage which is an institution they dont respect its more likely to create mamzeirim.

If the mods are going to so rarely approve comments to the CR maybe its time to do away with them. A CR by definition is a place where people throw around opinions. The way it is being run now defeats the sentiment. Maybe let people shmooze and if it gets out of hand then the mods can make some sense of order.

People donate sifrei Torah to a shul because they want their loved ones to be remembered in that specific shul. Sometimes they actually remain the property of the donor and theyre kept there for use at certain occasions and when the donor moves away they take it with them. Nobody has a right to just transfer a sefer Torah.

The law is that if you are in an accident you get a police report and send all the information to the insurance company. Im not talking about kissing a bumper. When I owned a car I paid for full coverage . When I rent I pay for full coverage. Not because I lack confidence in my own driving ability, but because I dont trust you. Seichel says to let the insurance companies work out the details. Auto body shops wont wait for a BD to decide things.

I agree with you 100%. We are required by law in every State to have insurance. The insurance companies (at least in my view) are our arbitrators that by purchasing insurance we accept that they will take care of things for us.
