If the couple were “Refine Frum Jews” they probably wouldn’t be divorced and if they were the husband wouldn’t be holding back the get.

Many of you have claimed that child support is an obligation of the father which is correct. But under secular law this can be as high as 50% of income before income taxes. This comes in as cash as opposed to food or clothing, goes directly to the wife to disburse as she sees fit. In many cases the bulk of this money is spent on her not the children. So if she is getting this money she might not be entititled to her income is all that I am saying.

If the ex-wife does not collect any money from the husband ie alimony or child support then her income belong to herself. But if she is collecting alimony and or child support then her income belongs to the husband as long as he hasn’t given a get.
These cases occur because the wife gets the secular divorce first and then tries to get the get. If she would get the get first the whole problem would have occurred.

I realize your son may be driving you crazy and you want him out of the house. What happens if he marries the first girl he goes out with. Where will they live? A 16 or 17 can’t work full time and earn enough to pay rent. So they will probably live with you. So instead of having one teenager in the house you have two driving you crazy.
A better solution is to just send him to a yeshiva out of town. He will mature and will stop driving you crazy.

A marriage is a partnership and can only be ended through mutual consent. The courts can try to force the husband to give a get, but the husband must willing give the get.
There was a case in Israel where the husband to get away from giving a get, went to Afghanistan in order to escape. He finally gave the get after over 20 years possibly because in return for his being allowed to immigrate to the US legally and escape the Taliban.
The problem with court pressure whether it be a Bais Din, Government Court or court of public opinion is that the husband can flee the jurisdiction. Once that happens the courts have no power over him until they find him, which can be very hard if he left the country or works off the books..
I don’t believe a husband should hold back a get. But if a husband is holding back a get there must be a reason which needs to be addressed. Social pressure can have the opposite effect, for example a husband paying child support and alimony who because of social pressure flees the jurisdiction he may stop paying besides making it harder to get the get. So I am not sure what purpose the Macha servers.

There is no logic to this vaccine mandate. It is surprising that workers will be fired for not having but there is no similiar requirement for government programs for example homeless shelters where it is more likely all types of diseases can be spread but there is no vaccine mandate for the shelters.

Shurat HaDin is planning to market a knock off on Ben & Jerry’s ice cream under Judea & Samaria’s Ben & Jerry’s claiming that Ben & Jerry has abandoned it’s trademark in the West Bank. Unilever has responded and claims it hasn’t abandoned the trademark. Next step is to fight it out in court. The problem for Unilever is that it’s an Israeli court so they have to explain how they are abandoning selling in the west bank and discriminating against people living there which is illegal, while at the same time not abandoning the trademark there.

For the vast majority of unvaccinated the virus is nothing more than the common cold. The vaccine helps the body create antibodies to fight the virus. The antibodies surround the virus and kill it. When the birus is totally surronded and safe you will get a negitive covid test result,The vaccine works well with those who don’t have anibodies. The problem is that those who have antibodies the virus in the vaccine even in it’s weaken state is enough to weaken the antibodies and reawaken the virus that had been dying out. This may explain why Isreal which has a high vaccination rate is experiencing lots of new cases.

Avi K Where did this virus originate? It supposedly came from bats in China. If it started out jumping from animal to human so why are you considering a very remote chance that the virus can jump again from animal to human.
The purpose of the vaccine is to build antibodies to fight the virus. If you have the antibodies you don’t need the vaccine. These antibodies die out over time which is why people who were vaccinated catch the virus. This is why Israel which has a high rate of vaccination is being hit with another wave of the virus.
I get tested for both the anti bodies and covid every 6 months and all of the test have shown that I have the antibodies but do not have covid. Even though I have worked from the office most of last year and all of this year and take the subway (mass transit) in order to get there.
As far as Korech is concerned he wanted Aron’s job, but Aron’s two son just died because they couldn’t wait until Aron died so they could get the job. So I am not sure how you can say that it was a common sense rebellion.

CS I am not sure what you mean by”it took years to get to go to blood soaked soil of Poland…” Before the 1990 it was behind the Iron Curtain and you weren’t supposed to go there. It’s only in the last twenty years that it’s been popular to go there.
Both Slovakia and Romania were allies of Germany during World War II while Poland was captured by Germany so I am not sure how you can say they were less friendly to the Nazis.
I have never visited Europe except as a stop over from or to Isreal so I am not familiar with driving regulations, but here in the USA you can not sleep in your car in a rest stop or on the shoulder of the road. The Druze handed them over to the Army but since Hezbollah is part of the government and the government controls the army and they (Hezballah operatives) were probably let go. With 80% of the population unable to afford food. I think the last thing that they want is a deverstating war. On the other hand with Arab parties propping up the Isreali government it is doubtful Isreal will start a war either. So Hezbollah has nothing to lose as Iran is paying them good money.

I can remember when my father needed something that was only made in Germany which was needed for his business, asking his Rabbi if he could buy it. To this day I wouldn’t buy anything made in Germany.
At least the Germans tried to attone for their sin of killing Jews, but most of the Eastern European countries haven’t even done that. Yet each year thousand of Jewish Holocust survivors their families and even ordinary Jews visit these countries and support their economy, becuase they want to visit the “old country”. They (the citzens of these countries) still hate Jews it’s just that they want the Jewish tourist money to continue flowing which prevents them attacking the Jewish tourist.

THe reason why we can’t get herd immunity is not becuase more people aren’t taking the vaccine, but becuase the virus can live in animals. The concept of herd immunity is that once enough people get the vaccine, the virus dies as there is no host for it to live in. But since animals can be hosts it’s impossible
to reach herd immunity until they too are vaccinated. Which is why I think testing everybody (humans) for antibodies and vaccinating those who don’t have antibodies is a better way to combatting this virus. This is just common sense.

I too have not been vaccinated. I took the antibody test last year and had >400 and am testing every 6 months to insure I have antibodies. My last test was 97.6 so I basically don’t see a purpose to take the vaccine as the reason for taking the vaccine is to get antibodies.
The vaccine doesn’t guarantee that you wouldn’t get covid and there are side effects which may include death. So why take the risk.

If you want to punish Unilever the way to do it is short the stock and make the stock price drop 20% in value. Board members usually own a lot of the companies shares and so when it goes down in value they take notice as they too are losing value. I wouldn’t say it’s not risky but with state pension selling off shares a grass roots movement to short the stock together with some hedge funds who smell blood in the water we can make some money too.

I can’t see anyone buying the building site right now for $100 million especially when we are not even sure how high they will allow the next building to be. THe value of the land is dependent on the number of apartments the developer can sell. The building that collapsed had 12 floors and 136 apartments. It’s doubtful the city will allow the next building on this site to be the same height or greater resulting in fewer apartments. This will mean that each coop would cost $1 million just for the land, but coops in that area go for as little as $200,000 to $300,000.00,
There is going to be a large drop in the value of Coops in this area for the following reasons:
    1) Many owners feel their building is going to collapse and want to sell before it does.
    2) Many building are in poor shape and the owners feel the cost of repair is beyond thier means.
    3) Coop owners who are on fixed incomes will see maintences charges increase as insurance and inspection expenses continue to rise.
    4) Buyer may consider the area too risky and look for coops in other areas.
In the short term the price of coops should drop as there will be too many sellers and not enough buyers.

uying a coop on a higher floor depends on if they hold of using a Shabbos elevator or not. The modern orthodox do the more frum don’t. Also the age of the elevator may be a factor as they maybe more likely to break down.
As far as affordable housing is concerned in NYC studio apartments start at $2200 a month and to qualify you must earn atleast three time as much per month. With one and two bedroom apartments $2500.00 – $2,800.00 per month and an income below $110,000.00

When you buy a condo or a coop you are giving up your self determination, now others will decide whether to have the shabbos elevator and what improvements are to be made at your expense. The board authorizes these improvement and charges the shareholders.
Developers are interested in maximizing the number of units which is why they are high rise. Otherwise it wouldn’t be profitable to build them.
Low rise buildings are built where land is cheap or is subsidized by the government and zoning law prohibit high risers

In NJ it is a civil right’s case and the Jewish condo owner must sue the condo board to get thier rights back.
In Florida the problems are the soil is soft the water table is close to the surface and waterproofing probably wasn’t maintained. The water seeps into the concrete creating cracks and weaking the rebar. So if anyone is thinking about buying a Coop or Condo you need to check the apartment but also the building itself. If you see puddles in the basement and cracks in the cement walk away from the deal. This can happen here if the building isnot properly maintained.

The problem with this is that the super rich can hire tax professional to avoid these taxes leaving the burden on the middle and lower classes to pay. Likewise, the rich can and do move from high taxing states which is happening in NY NJ and CA to lower taxing states, leaving the tax burden on those who remain who are not as wealthy. Also the rich generate jobs such as nannys drivers and cleaners. This is besides industries such as restrurants and broadway shows who without rich patrons will cease to exist.

Biden will win another term if he gets covid under control and the economy booming. In 2024 Biden is going to have to run on his accomplishment. If all he has got to show is that he is not Trump I don’t think he can energize the party. Trump has strong backing in the Republican party and has over 70 million supporters. Also 2024 hopefully covid will be over and there will be less likely there will be claims of fraud.

I am not sure what the Democrats hope to get out of this impeachment. They need 67 senators to vote to convict. 45 senators have already voted that it is illegal to impeach anyone after they are out of office and there are only100 senators. So how are they going to 17 Republican Senators to vote to convict.? This will also make it harder to convict him in a criminal case should they want to.
The big problem for the democrats is that now they are in charge they have to pass the $2,000.00 stimulus package and cure the pandamic by 2022. Otherwise they stand a good chance of losing both houses of Congress.

I doubt Trump will resign. I also doubt Pence will have him removed. Any agreement for Trump to leave office will probably be based on Trump and his associates being pardoned. As far as impeachmrnt is concerned Trump has a little over a week left and it’s doubtful he can be impeached in such a short time.
As far as state prosecution it is doubtful once Trump leaves office they will go through with it. Many states need Federal funding and although the Democrats control both houses of Congress it’s 50 50 in the Senate and the Democrats have only 5 more seats in the House of Representatives, which will make it very easy for the Republicans to hold up funding for those states.

So unless you believe that Trump is going to be sworn in January 20 you can forget about impeachment. As far Harvard Professor Tribe he is entitled to his opinion but it doesn’t make it true anymore then Attorney Lin Wood’s claiming voter fraud.

After the 2016 election the Democrats claimed foriegn intervention was the reason that Trump won. They even impeached him and it wasn’t substaniated. Now it’s the Republican’s turn and they are claiming voter fraud. What is the differance? I doubt the courts will get involved at this late date.
    The problem for Biden are:
    A) In the 2020 election in which there was suppose to be a Blue Wave in the senate Democrats only won 2 races and lost 1. Now in Georgia they are going to beat 2 incumbents. Voter fraud is going to be harder this time becuase Trump is not on the ballot and Republican controll the election process.
    B) The Progressives are getting feed up with him and Pelosi. Right now the Democrats have 222 seats with 2 seats undecided one of which in Iowa the state declared the Republican the winner but the democrat is appealing to the House of Represenative to decide who won the election. The other in NY is still in the courts. If 5 Democrats don’t vote yes on their bill it wouldn’t get passed in the House. In the Senate they need to win both run off elections plus have every Democratic Senator vote for their bill in order to get the VP to cast the deciding vote so that the bill can be passed.
Biden maybe the next president but I am not sure he is going to get anything done

In the Iowa 2 the Democrat candidate is appealing to the House of Reprentitives, not the courts, the Iowa election board determination which declared the Republican candidate the winner. The vote will probably be on party line and the Democrats have 222 out of 435 seats so the Democrat candidate will probably be elected even though the State of Iowa determined that the Republican candidate won.

Lock downs, masks and social distancing aren’t a cure. They just slow down the rate of infection. What is needed is testing and vaccinating those who don’t have antibodies for covid until we get herd immunity.

If people wouldn’t even wear masks or maintain social distancing how can you expect they will stay in their basement until herd immunity is achieved. In order to get herd immunity you need 70% of the population to have been vaccinated. This will require the states to administer the vaccines but the funding that the Democrats & Republicans agreed to wouldn’t be enough to fully funded it.
You do realize that no one knows how long the antibodies created by the vaccine will last. You may need to vaccinated every year, so by the time you vaccinated 70% of the population the first ones have to be vaccinated again. Also no one knows what the side effects are going to be.
