Back to the matter at hand, don’t you think that Joe Girardi should put A.J. in Game 6 after CC pitches Games 1-4, and Andy Pitches Games 2-5 , and Phil Hughes will pitch Game 7 if needed?

If you walk into your computer room and see your kid on Yeshiva World would you further look into which of the threads he’s reading (even if you would, it’s probably because you participate in these threads, but what about a parent who doesn’t blog, and just knows about this site and that it’s a clean one?

The thing I find interesting about Pizza is that the Pizza Man doesn’t look like he has a specific recipe, they just roll around some tomato Sause, sprinkle on some cheese and put it into the oven, and yet they have different tastes, and every pizza store makes all their Pizza to taste the same

I don’t think writing about sports is any worse then writing about 1)Secular Music 2)Movies 3)Girls wearing inappropriate clothing (very graphically described here), etc.

    Sac,

Just for the sake of argument, you say that if a teen reading a thread has any questions heshe should ask a Rav or a Machaneches, but what about us adults, should we not be asking a RavMechaneches all our relevant issues in Judiasm, but rather be writing about it on a thread online with perfect strangers?

Phil Hughes is going to really keep up his pithcing in the 3rd start for two reasons:

1- Because as you said they need a 3-0 lead for A.J. to keep him calm and focused (if that’s possible at all)

2- Because he will be pithcing against Cliff Lee

I once heard a cute story about “Aravot on the Aron Kodesh”. A Chossid was once davening by his Rebbe’s Shul and wanted to see his Rebbe so he went on to the Aron Hakoidesh (Chassidim used to do these things), and his rebbe saw him and gestured that it’s inappropriate, so the chassid promply responded “Ich bin nisht erger vi a tziklapte araveh”. (Trans. “I’m not worse than a beaten Araveh”)

I’m not commenting about whether this thread should be on “Yeshiva World”, personally I am loving this thread.

But regarding what you said that who lets their teenage children on the internet unsupervised, and if you do this is your smallest problem, I’m not sure you’re right about that, because if you have filtered internet then they can’t go on obscene sites, and yet can go on Yeshiva World, so that’s what 1987 is talking about

I think you have a point in general that the respect level of today is not what it used to be, but regarding respect for this President, he doesn’t have respect for himself why should we have respect for him.

    apushatayid,

I heard 2 very cute stories about Yeshivah Bochurim who were into Baseball back in the 60s:

    1) In the Telshe Yeshiva during one of the World Series Games the boys were in middle of learning in the Mishmar Seder and did’nt want to stop learning, but wanted to know the score, so the shut off all the lamps on the yartzeit Board on Mizrach and made up that one side was the yankees and the other side was the opposing team and one guy listned to the game, and when either side scored a run he would go over to the board and turn on one bulb on the the designated side and all the bochurim would look at the board every once in a while and stay updated.

    2) The Boys used to say when someone had a very good “Kushya”, “It’s so Shver that even Mickey Mantle ken es nisht upshlugin

Yeah, the song Unity was done beautifully, but I think that they gave each singer to few lyrics. But not withstanding, it was done very well.

There was a story with one of the late Gerrer Rebbes, The Imrei Emes ZT’L, who once said that he has a few thousand chassidim who don’t wear teffilin, (He meant children), the analogy being: He might be a frum man

Kudos! I always say the same thing.

Why should a man NOTICE a woman’s lack of Tzinius in the first place??

    Aishes Chayil:

There was a story a few days ago in the NY Jets locker room, where a female reporter came in dressed very provocatively, and obviously the men in the room said some minor offensive comments.

The feminist groups got all upset about it calling it a chauvinistic offence.

Now obviously I’m not comparing Heilige Yidden to these players, but you have to understand that men have Techinos and will have nisyoinos to be oiver aveirois, if you dress inappropriately!
